What's your opinion on kits?

«13
Personally, I'm conflicted. I really like the country kitchen kit, but I don't think it's worth 5 bucks. (None of them are worth 5 bucks maybe
2 or 2.50 at the most) Maybe if they added more natural light and dark wood tones.

I don't like the CAS kit. I just don't.

Bust the dust kit should've been a base game update. I'm sorry that's just how feel.

All together, I think this just seems like a unnecessary cash grab. And they were finally starting to listen to players more. Two steps forward, one giant leap backwards.

I just bought both the dust kit and the kitchen kit. I think it worth the money, the dust kit will give my maid something to do rather than just standing around. The dust is a bit much at first, but I am getting into the groove.

I see the good side to them, well first of all we dont know how many packs the sims 4 has left, all packs go with a theme and all items and gameplay have to go with that theme, with kits because they are smaller they can add content they cant add through packs because it doesn't go with the theme that's coming next, we can have endless possibilities with this, a sleepwear kit, casino kit, arcade kit, smoothie maker etc

Exactly this!! A lot if people fail to see the endless possibilities this brings to get stuff we normally wouldn't. I love them so far. I have all 3 and it's a blast. I personally have no problems with the price. I think it's fair but that's just my opinion.

I have mixed feelings, the bust the dust kit seems good, it adds a lot to your daily life on your home lot which is something that the game lacks, I just worry that it will get old pretty fast.

I think it's sad that the community have asked for more kitchen furniture for ages but the team have always prioritized other furniture so they have to make kits to bring them into the game. I guess it's good that we finally get more but it's sad to see that we have to pay more to get it.

As someone who plays with CAS a lot I feel that the throwback fit kit is not something that we were really lacking but the items look nice enough.

So I'm not super negative but I do worry that this will lead to an oversaturation of stuff and small gameplay features and larger gameplay features that will require more development will be more rare.

Sorry, but I will disagree with you on the price. All three of these kits combined have less content than 1 stuff pack (except maybe the first few created) and cost nearly as much as a game pack. I think 2-3 dollars would be a little more fair unless they decide to add more content to the kits later on.

That doesn't mean I'm not hopeful for later kits. I'm just not entirely sold on the first 3 (except maybe the kitchen, I just want more swatches for versatility).

Honestly I hope they do more collaborations with cc creators. And personally I would love something like a skin details CAS kit. It could be an opportunity to add a lot of CAS assets players have been asking for. Body hair, vitiligo, more tattoos, stretch marks etc. Personally I would love more freckles options and those cc eyelashes the simmers I watch use. They're so pretty, I want them! Maybe also some nailpolish?

I love the kits. I had a gift card so I bought them all. I disliked some of the newest packs so much and was glad to finally see something that was not Star Wars or supernatural.

My opinion on the Kits is kind of mixed at the moment. I have seen the trailer and the livestream on this. And I have seen some things that I did like and some things that I have doubts about. Which is causing me to have mixed opinion on Kits right now.

I am mixed myself. They have good and bad points. I do not think $5 for a smaller pack is outrageous and I really like the idea of doing something that can fix content droughts. They may not be able to tell us what is coming, but we can play with a new kit in the meantime. Plus kits are the quickest, said the livestream, and let them do more nonstandard ideas since they do not have to appeal to as many people as the bigger packs. (It gives niche players a shot a proper niche content.)

More specifically, I like Bust the Dust and think the gameplay kits are a good and fairly inexpensive way to stack new gameplay for a more complex game. I am encouraged by the exemplary gameplay kit.

The BB kit I am torn on and do not think I can evaluate accurately just yet. I have really wanted a rustic style for my kitchens for a long time. I was always going to get this kit. It was more assured than Bust the Dust, even though gameplay is the most important thing to me. So my bias is kind of cheating me out of a proper evaluation of BB packs right now. All I know is I like my new kitchen, the fridge looks like the one I have in my real house (except an actually normal color), and they work off the grid so I am thrilled with it. I built a farmhouse with it today.

As for Throwback, the CAS kit, I do not see it being worth $5. A CAS kit with just clothing is a BB kit with just clutter in my opinion. Sure, it is still a value judgement of how much you will use it and how much that usage means to you, but I have a higher expectation of CAS variety for an exemplar kit. No hair, no accessories, no jewelry, no tattoos, and certainly nothing new like body hair was added. I am not expecting gameplay or miracles in CAS kits, but new clothes alone will not keep my game fresh. CAS deserves meaningful expansion, too, even $5 at a time. Throwback just was not it.

Whether the content is worth the price depends on the way you play, which is the whole point of the kits. I bought the Throwback Fit Kit and I absolutely love it. I am having a lot of fun creating outfits with the new items and older packs. Just posting a few examples under the spoiler to show why I enjoy the new items.
    Y08Pne0.jpg
But I spend at least 30% of my time in CAS, for me this is a big part of playing the game.

On the other hand, I never wanted dust in my game, so I am not getting that kit and I think the Country Kitchen is cute, but not worth 5 bucks for the way I play my game. And even though only one kit appealed to my playstyle I do enjoy seeing what other players do with the kits that I didn't get.

And of course the kits are a new way to make money, to "grab our cash". That's what every company does, search for new ways to make money. We'll see if this will turn out to be a successful idea or not.
If I just posted an outfit you like, I have good news - there is more where that came from!

They're microtransactions with a cute name. That's all they are and all they'll ever be. I'm not paying $5 for virtual dust or anything like that.

I personally don't see that much of an issue with them? I personally think developing them more into stuff packs with the same amount of content as a stuff pack. I feel that Kits may be a bit too much of a niche for me personally. Granted, I have only used Country Kitchen and Bust the Dust (I think it's called that?). Either way, I entirely understand how some can see these as nothing more than a cash-grab, and I may be ignorant to business, but I don't really think that the Dev. team or marketing team want to rip off their customers. I hope everyone has a wonderful day! :)

It's a business. They need to make money, so other people can too. You can always choose not to buy it of course.

Anyway, I really like the idea of kits. I actually love stuff packs, so when they announced kits I was really excited. I bought them the day of and the day after when I got to play, I loved them all so much. I actually love everything about ALL 3 of the kit packs so far. I built a new kitchen, played with dust bunnies and filthy fiends, and created a few throwback outfits. I think they're all really fun.

Summertaffy68 has a really good point about having to make money, particularly in these dark times because their employees have families too and they need to eat.
Calico45 also has a good point on the cost of these Kit Packs. Five dollars is not to outrageous for these micro-mini packs. Especially if they add new gameplay to the game.

I personally like the idea of the kits, I only have the Throwback kit at the moment. I doubt I will use the Bust the Dust or Country Kitchen kits in my , so I’ll likely pass on those, but it’ll be interesting to see what’s in further kits.

I fail to see why we need both Stuff packs and these.

I feel like it should be either stuff packs or kits, not both. Because they are both cheap and both offer a small amount of content, I don't see how making that amount even smaller is beneficial in anyway.

"Kits" sure is a funny way to spell microtransactions. You know I like to think there was a conversation that went something like...

"Ok how do we get the community to buy more things?"

"Uhhh...release requested packs in the quantity and quality they've been asking for and be more transparent with them?"

    "You're fired. Next!"

"Maybe...since we're already cutting up big pack ideas into smaller ones, how about we cut up the small packs into even smaller packs and cut them again?? And we price them individually since the community will buy anything!"

"That is...the most brilliant idea Ive ever heard. I want you to have the keys to my car."

I see the potential and I enjoy the bust the dust kit...
as far as the price goes...well...all the packs are overpriced imho especially the EPs, so nothing new...wait for sale, put on the birthday-/christmas-/whatever-wishlist as usual. Dont think EA will ever change their pricing.

I can see future potential for these kits. I have no problem with the concept whatsoever and in my opinion €5 is not too steep, depending on one’s play style and what one would like to see in their game.

However, I personally think some of the current kits feel a little incomplete as Kits:

Ideally a CAS kit should also offer at least 1 hair for female and 1 hair for male to finish the look. Throwback Fit kit only comes with clothing.

A kitchen kit should offer a matching kitchen table and chairs in order to have a complete kitchen in your game. This goes for every future room/ BB kit.

I think the kits become more acceptable if there’s a clear balance of certain items that come in each kit thus making the customer feel that the kits are complete. It doesn’t even have to do with the quantity of items, but more specifically that the items offered are the ones needed to complete the look or feeling.

I don't see how these little kits bring big possibilities. I mean, look at them. Two of them are BB and CAS? Oh, I like the country kit, but it hardly adds 'big possibilities' when I reconstructed my kitchen in Brindleton Bay. Also, I am genuinely surprised that there is no natural wood swatches.

And dust? With the speed dust accumulates (slow at first, then constant), the only gameplay possibility seems to be that you'll spend all day vacuuming your house - that, or hire maids or summon Bonehilda.
Prepping a list of mods to add after Infants are placed into the game. Because real life isn't 'nice'.

Well I don't think I will be buying these
    1. I didn't like the CAS kit
    2. I am not into building kitchens that much so that I will be buying that kit
    3. The dust kit looked kind of funny, but I dön't want my Sims hanging around their house all the time, I want them out and about, diving, bowling, skiing, having adventures. Not caught at home being tense about the dusty house. As for the family play, their agenda is already pretty full, with work and then doing the work chores, helping their kids with their homwork, fixing dinner and all the other stuff. Adding a lot more clean to this....

Not much. Haven’t bought one, honestly don’t have any time to play anyway. But from the 2 sentences I read about them they kind of look like a cash grab to me. Think I’ll save up for something with more staying power :)

I love the idea of kits - especially if EA release more in the future. One thing I find the game and EPs/GPs/SPs lack is a variety of more objects... not just style variants of the same objects/furniture over and over again, but different objects altogether. Kits seem to do exactly that: they are a collection of themed objects or outfits that can offer an extra touch of realism or details to your gameplay.

I bought the country kitchen kit straight away and I love it. It might not add much to the game except some objects, but I love designing country-themed lots and kitchens are one of my favourite rooms to create and decorate, so I was really excited about this kit.

I like the concept of the Bust the Dust kit, and would have bought it if it also included non-electronic cleaning tools, otherwise it would kind of ruin the gameplay in some pre-industrial worlds I have created.

I'm not personally interested in the Throwback Fit kit, because so far sports and exercise have only been of marginal interest to my Sims.

But i bought definitely buy more kits if they revlved around themes I'm interested in - like musical instruments, historical or ethnic outfits, more pet accessories, etc

Stuff Pack on sale is often $5--end of story. Lots more features.

If the Kits get 50% off like the other three regularly do, I may be interested. But too little at $5.

My real opinion is that kits take away from stuff that should have been in other packs. And if a Generations successor as well as a farm pack are in the horizon as heavily rumored, two out of the three kits belong better in those packs. Hopefully, these are mere teasers.
