I have no CC and I think all of my Sims I've created are lovely. I'm not quite as creative as most here but my first generation families look great to me.
@S_Empress I can't speak for others but, in my case, it's not that I think that CC free sims are all ugly but that I am unable to achieve the look that I want without CC, especially when trying to make a sim based on a real life person. For some, it's a matter of styling sims to their own taste.
@izecson, I've always stated "Learn to use the sliders..." The custom content only augments what I can do with the sim AFTER I make the sim with sliders.

I just don't particularly feel like pulling my entire mods folder out every time I create a sim. But rest assured I can use my sliders just fine.

I personally think that the default sims are pretty, they are like Barbie and Ken (Except certain pre-mades).
Right, i agree with this part! This might seem crazy but i am in a phase right now where i feel like i prefer the look of the vanilla sims. I agree they can be made to give the vibes of some of the barbie movies, which is something i personally like right now. I find that type of look cute.

i try to keep cc to a minimum. i used to use a lot but these days i just pick a default skin a few clothes and that's my lot. i find my game borks less often
