I was happy when Eco Lifestyle came out because that complimented my gameplay style. But when they announced the Star Wars pack, I was thoroughly disappointed. I'm more excited about the stuff packs over anything else most of time. But I feel you.
Adding the newspaper back is one of those things that would be such a fast, easy, low-maintenance fix that so many of us have asked for that it's hard to imagine why they wouldn't add it to the list.
Personally, I think Eco Living would have been a great opportunity to add newspapers, because here you go, here's one more household item to recycle... and since it comes every day, it would really have helped scratch that itch for the recycling-crazy sims.
I agree and it wouldn't need to be universal. You could order it as a service like maids, gardeners and pizzas, if you wanted. I have sims who watch the news, politisim, weather or sports on TV just because it's in character, and plenty of them would order a newspaper.
How about both? Introducing: The Happy Haunts Cooking Contest! Contestants will work in our Ghastly Witch (TM) Kitchen, using our special Gingerbread House oven and matching appliances on our newly distressed Witches Coven or Harried Villager countertops. Brew up your most ghoulish concoction! Bake your most terrifying Evil Cookie recipe! Make use of slimy worms and frogs in an Occult Stir Fry! Compete for the coveted title of Ghoulmaster Chef!
I have high hopes. I think it's going to be something a lot of people have asked for eg a Winter Vacation Pack.
I think so too, set in the mountains and with hotels to manage and the option to buy second homes. People have asked for hotels forever, and that was *not* on the list of things they said we would *not* get, so I think there is a good chance. I would be happy if they announced that, but I'd have a dilemma since I haven't bought anything since EL and I'm fairly determined not to until they fix some of the major bugs.
Running a hotel would be interesting. I hope they scrap any food pack they have in mind and go with something that hasn't been in TS4, yet.

I'm sorry if this is harsh words to some but I have a much higher bar than any of this.
@Cinebar I don't think it's any harsher than the other comments you've been making for the last six years. If that's what you think then you're entitled to say it without apologizing.
I don't have any particular expectations for EP 10. Just looking forward to more fun experiences for my sims.
I wouldn't say I've been saying the same thing for the past six years. Maybe the last three. I'm pretty sure I wrote positive threads about Toddlers, Vampires, Dine Out, possibly some cheer about GTW and I loved the WB 'world'. I think I liked so much stuff in some packs I actually put many, many built lots on the gallery. It might be because some people have left TS4 that I don't think the last three years have been all that great since their visions for the game's direction isn't here anymore. Hm, maybe that's it, maybe the loss of particular developers and or creative directors has a lot to do with why people haven't been all that thrilled with the direction, the bugs and or the themes. I don't know, but I think I have given credit when I felt it was due. Come to think of it, I think I actually said something very nice about CL's Spice District and the fake people (agents) in the background and how far my Sim could go on those back streets no one ever travels. lol
I think I sometimes say something nice about some stuff I found interesting. It's just that in the last three they have failed to interest me anymore with the bugs and poorly designed themes. Wait, I think I also said something funny and nice about Parenthood, I think I loved kids made messes in the unused areas of NewCrest. And I think I said it was funny my Sim parents were teaching their kids to be gross and ignorant and mean. lol I think WB inspired me to recreate my DS videos in TS4, it's a shame the direction and the themes and especially the bugs have made me so jaded since some with vision left the game's development. You know, those who knew The Sims is a life simulator and not a trend simulator.

This pretty much confirms reality TV. And that, my friends, is why it’s good to be a pessimist.
I really don't think it means anything. A previous Patch Notes had a sequence from a Telenovela (Soap Opera) as part of the patch notes, and we haven't gotten a better romance system.
That and I'm not seeing anything in that quote that's particularly Reality TV. Soap Opera maybe, but not Reality TV (Then again, I don't watch Slice of Faux-Life reality shows like Real Housewives.)
I hope they‘re playing it safe. No more experiments, no more „never done before“. Just give us generations, hotels, bands, cars.
Freed infants with clothes and infant items(passies), real farming with animals, fencing, feed, tractors and implements, ability to sell and buy at Co-op, new crops, and recipes like soup beans and cornbread. Bread machine, pizza oven, hammocks, bunk beds, hotels, casinos, graveyards(how come no one is complaining about this; ghosts without graveyards), happy haunts/ dangerous, more grim interactions, wedding planner and more wedding stuff, belly chains/diamonds, a world with more 60x60 lots, and more real careers (real babysitting, interior designer, housebuilder, wedding planner, farmer, governess/live in nanny, ect). Also second the cars and loads of toys for all kids.
To be really honest, I just don't care. I very rarely check in here, see what's up, haven't updated my game, don't know what's in the patch, don't know if anything has been announced for the EP and I also don't think I'll be buying it. Seriously the laziness in that SW pack killed the sims fan in me 😂. Maybe the love can be rekindled, who knows, not holding my breath for it. Got myself a switch, have even more beautiful games to play now, and whatever the sims team decides to do with this game or not, I just don't need to know rn.

Do we get to use children as ingredients?

@Simtown15 What is it from? A reality tv show?
I don’t get it.
I found it in the patch notes.
Indeed, I saw it in the patch notes. What I mean is, does it refer to anything? Is this a scene from a show? 🧐
...oh dear...
Hee hee. thanks.

I think that's the key for all EA games at this point in time At least they haven't patched 3rd party ads in the game.... XD
