Create a pack

JustinJustin Posts: 731 Member
Curious to hear some ideas people might have if you were asked by the gurus if you could help them create a pack from scratch. What would be your theme & main focus on it? Gameplay elements etc?

As for me. I would create a pack with a real story (similar to strangeville) where you go on a vacation trip by boat or plane & it crashes & you and the group of survivors have to live off that island & find a way to SoS. But have to deal with a tribe that would kidnap your sims one by one (they wouldn’t kill you ) but they would imprison you for trespassing on their lands & you have to prove to them that you Mean no harm to them. So you do little task for them & this pack would introduce farming & hunting . CAS & BB will be similar to sims castaway. This would also introduce two new traits “vegan” for those who don’t want to hunt & only eat the fruit & vegetables the island provides & “archery”. This trait will make your sims a natural at hunting with a bow & arrow. Archery would be the new skill that your sims can learn. Don’t want to hunt animals? You can shoot your bow & arrow at some of the new hard to reach plants. Star fruit & mango trees. This would replace the harvesting animation . A reintroduced but unplayable occult would be imaginary friend. After being in the island for a long time he would show up & your sim would be the only one who can see them because they’re going insane lol. A new death would be “death by the pack” & basically while you’re hunting boars there’s a chance that a pack of boars can kill your sim because you failed to hunt them (chances are increased if your archery level is too low)

I'ld create a pack all about real estate. It'ld bring hotes, b&b's, resorts, hostels, the ability to own multiple homes and the ability to rent homes to npc's. A real real estate empire pack.

I never created a hotel in the sims 3 but I do miss being able to own multi houses. Owning a vacation house like in the sims 2 would be nice again.

Something like "Hot Date" maybe 🤔 Have a loose storyline to follow for your romantically involved (or those who want to be!) SIMs where they woo and spoil their partner for the evening at some kind of event; formal dance? Night on the town? Dinner and a movie? They'd all have different "goals" to achieve and would gain relationship points depending on the success level. Might be fun to incorporate destination worlds too, sending them on holiday to see how they interact with fewer distractions.

In a similar vein, I'd love to see a spooky storyline where they get left an old (haunted) house and depending on choices made, end up clearing it of spooks and living happily ever after, making friends with the spooks and living an interesting life or maybe... joining them for all eternity - willingly or not...

(I know we could easily do these storylines ourselves, just thinkin it might be fun to have them as more gameplay styles ^^)

A Sims Magical Quest game, like Jungle Adventure, where you get a world to explore and different ancient secrets to unlock, but unlocking new areas/ secrets requires different magical abilities (would love to have more to with all the spells in my sims' spellbook).
For example, you need to cast inferniate on some torches to activate a door mechanism or drink a potion of masterful insults to beat a spirit in an insult match so they'll give you one of the secret magical artifacts.
There could even be hidden areas that can be unlocked with mermaid and vampire abilities too (e.g. diving down to a shipwreck or an area guarded by a monster who can only be subdued by vampiric hypnosis).

    Sports & Leisure.

I’d create a pack that focused on adding interactive sports (golf, baseball, soccer, etc) as well as other games/activities that give our sims more stuff to do together. Using the framework of the club system I’d allow for the creation of teams and leagues.

And I’d make certain that, unlike bowling, scoring is tracked realistically.

I want a neighborhood style pack with large empty lots. I want to have terrain paint and floor tiles that match the neighborhood. Sort of like the Agrestic neighborhood in Weeds but not exactly that style.

A neighborhood set on a hill with cul-de-sacs and lots of trees and paths that lead to a neighbor park. No travel needed if you live there. Like a small mountain town aspect. Something not suburban.

Better yet, a pack with create a world (caw) aspects.

A build pack with lots of swatches. Little touches like window screens so I can build a screened in wraparound porch. Curved walls and improved stair railings. Just more architectural features like ceiling rosettes or paint on the ceiling. Little touches that will seamlessly pull my the build into the neighborhood style. They gave us thatched roofs and matching roof trim for Sulani. This makes the builds fit into the world. We need stuff that for another kind of world. Just anything that is not desert or suburban. Maybe a small town Midwest vibe or a mountain town.

    A very interesting idea!

For me, I would LOVE a Generations remake. I would add in new key life moments for Sims of every age, such as high school graduation and prom, bachelor/ette parties, new hobbies and activities for Sims of all ages; and more group/family-based interactions.

The pack of everything. KIARA'S ALL

Royal Families - Your Sims can now be royal! Create a Kingdom, give out titles to family, attend royal events, try to hide royal scandals, make decisions that impact the community and announce royal news! Own estates, castles and multiple homes on one property!

Hobbies - More hobbies like gambling, casinos, bingo, art classes, book clubs, etc

Celebrity Change - When Sims do bad actions in public the word spreads around. Like if a sim cheats on a spouse in public, you lose fame and you can sue like you did sims 3!

Divorce - If Sims divorce w/ kids they can now go to court for custody and maybe pay child support. Brings out realism!

As said above we need more real estate- Hotels, B&B, Resorts where we can own them!

More jobs like Get To Work - Office Job, Firefighter, etc

I would love to make a Greek themed pack, it'd most likely be focused on the architecture, maybe even similar gameplay to Jungle adventure where there can be artefacts that you can find in and about the world increasing your skills in archaeology.
And some love to CAS, maybe some outfits based on the mythos, hairs, some everyday outfits...
Cool story, needs more dragons - Cries in baguette

African Safari / world music pack. Complete with instruments and dance styles from different cultures.

    Medieval pack.
New world set in the past. Going there through time travel(optional).
    New features.
    Horses.
    Death pit.
    Swordfighting.
    Treasure hunting.
History book (like the spellbook from ROM). Available only in the present.
Whatever you do in the past may have an effect on the present. When you play in the past you can take on different historical missions. These missions may have a minor medium or great impact in the present.
Minor impact: Once you complete the mission it will be recorded in the history book.
Medium impact: Once you complete the mission an object will be unlocked in the present bb for everyone to buy. Ex: If you build a famous historical statue usint the new sculpting skill, imitations of this statue will be available in the present for everyone to purchase.
Great impact: Once you conplete the mission the present will change fundamentaly. For ex. you might get sims speaking with a different accent, like rey from JTB(because the past sims lost a war with another nation), or it might introduce the forgotten religion of the Watcher in the present. If you kill a sims ancestor their present sim descendant will die due to time anomaly.

Team sports with real tournaments and school/uni leagues. Creating animations for 16 sims at once that also play together instead of simply at the same time (looking at you, basketball hoop) would be time consuming, so to compensate for this the pack would have almost no build/buy and only very few CAS items. Probably a few baseball caps for the fans and customizeable trikots (team name, logo, player number, player surname).

Take adult only mods out there, do tweaking to make sure they work in tandem with no issues, bundle them up in a pack. Done. "Adult Games". A shame it is not going to happen, but - oh, wait - I have this already.

I understand this would be not for everyone, but this is my honest opinion.

    A pirate/medieval themed pack!

    Underwater lots/ gameplay area
Pirate ship lots (or houseboats in general)
Princess Cordelia lore expansion - would be really cool if she were a premade
Pirate themed story line similar to StrangerVille/JtB
    Monarchy system
Underwater Kraken boss fight (please more bosses in the Sims - they are really fun!)
    Dragons

A mash up of TS4 Island Living/The Sims Medieval/TS3 Island Paradise basically. I definitely want more fantasy elements in The Sims 4!

We technically have space pirates now! It’s time for sea pirates 🏴‍☠️

I would like a pack where we get to explore caves. All those cave entrances that lead to nowhere, will now lead to an underground cave system that is actually one or more open neighborhoods that we can explore. New activities will be rock climbing and abseiling, canoeing down a cave river. New career Speleologist, you get to discover caves, hidden chambers in the caves, draw cave maps and find relics, ancient cave drawings or interesting rocks. It's now possible to live in a cave, and you can carve furniture items, stairs and windows out of rock, use plants to draw on the cave walls. Fur rugs and bed throws make a comeback. There is also a population of BigFoots that live in one of the caves and you can meet them if you go deep in the forest. BigFoots are friendly people and are very good at identifying useful herbs and berries in the forest, and they love honey from wild beehives, but they need to be house trained if you want to take them back to your place. They are slobs by nature and can go weeks without showering.

I really like the ideas of Real Estate and Sports packs. As the Decades Challenge is proving popular I think a series of small packs containing fashion, decor and furniture appropriate to each decade would be good.

I would love a sandbox of sorts where you can actually make the map itself your own theme with its own objects etc., then have objects that can be recolored right in-game to match your theme. maybe provide furniture, hairstyles etc from different eras.
The Sims is NOT a game, it's a lifestyle choice.

I'd make a The Sims 4 Society pack. I miss ways to connect households. It would focus on generations - both as life stages and family lines, but also on deeper personality and better awareness of other sims' status etc. One big focus would be on having community groups like family tribes (including nobility) and more political groups. There would be a feature where certain "traits" or other values could be passed down to only the next head of the group. Members of a group would be ranked - optional per group whether it should be a simple or more advanced system, but there should at least be 3 levels where head of group is alone on top level). Next leader could be elected, or chosen by the previous head, big event when this happens.

The pack would also introduce *traditions*, which of course should be different for each group/family/clan, and would be constructed by the simmer based on whatever assets and background available in that group. Trigger and elements would be picked from a list - could be implemented with the throw a party feature. Traditions could also be triggered by the leader, whether s/he is actively played or NPC.

Head of groups (or top 2 levels) will randomly call other members, asking them a question with 2 or more optional answers. These answers will effect your sim's relation to the sim who called, a relation that might have some impact on your future in the group.

The genealogy bit would include an easier way to get good family portraits, have framed genealogy poster ordered. Easier to throw family parties (able to invite a relative or group member without needing to meet first). Weddings, funerals and birth announcements/events. Possibility of awarding a dead sim with individual statue, for a garden, community park or the grave. Testaments and a lawyer gathering the family to reveal the dead sim's testament. Individual bank accounts (or just split cash accounts in household). Possibility to break out from a group/family starting a new rivaling group with a different setup.

Groups need accessories, but this should be more serious/formal than GT club system. Accessories could connect to dress code set for the traditions/events. Buttons, sashes, rings and flags are possibilities. This system could be rather advanced.

Would also introduce a flexible system for the simmer (or perhaps this should be done by via the political groups?) to set tax factors on either hood-, world- or global (save) level. Each factor will have 1 good and 1 bad element picked from a list (tax reduce, career or skill benefits, extra tax based on given asset, more costly school, more expensive services etc). Top level member(s) of certain groups could be charged extra tax while being a member of certain groups could give a tax rebate. This is set per group. The tax thing is what the NAPs failed to do, so we need more :)

I could go on, but dinner is calling, ha! :)
