Would you like pre-teens?

No. Definitely a no. EA needs to improve the lifestages it already has, not add new half-baked ones. I'd like the teenagers to be a bit shorter, but preteens? No.

    Yes
Preteens are not something I need in my game, but my opinion is more yes than no. Teens look too much like young adults in Sims 4, so it would be nice to get one more age group in between child and these older teens.

Maybe. It really depends on how well their made.

No I don’t think I would like this. Seems redundant to me.

The jump between toddler (2-ish) and elementary school child (6-12) is way more abrupt than from child to teen.

No, I do not want to have another sim-height that will require new animations. Children are already excluded enough as it is.

In a world with unlimited resources for animations I would like to have different heights of adults and then preteens could have been fun. As it is now kids cannot bike because that would require new animations. Adding preteens without adding a good increase in budget for animations would just mean that kids would get left out more.

For my part I would rather see kids getting more new things to do.

I don't think preteens are needed. I'd much rather have a system or feature that gradually aged all of our sims. Like child sims start getting acne or they suddenly need braces, or maybe they get uncomfortable in their clothes because they are out growing them. I could see it being more as a moodlit thing but it would be cool to see their age progress physically. It would also be the same for teen to young adult and on and on. I can't imagine what would set preteens apart from teens or children other than the obvious height difference.

How sad it is that people vote no because of a lack of resources/poor expectations.

But maybe if we all voted yes we would get pre-teens in the sims 5.

Nope. Unnecessary time and effort and resources to be put in. Plus, people are probably gonna complain how every other group other than YA have nothing to do in the game.

I voted yes because I'm not against it, but with that being said, I'm not sure how that would contribute much to the game.

Yes absolutely. For me, Teens in TS4 have always felt like the much older teens (17-19) who are right on the cusp of adulthood. Its just rather a jarring change from being an 8 or 9 year old person to 17ish over night. I feel like..."Woah? Where'd that 10ish years of my sim's life go?"

    As the title says...

    I wouldn't mind pre-teens. o:)

I'm on the fence about the issue honestly. part of me wonders what pre-teens will bring to the table, another part of me wonders what the modders will end up doing with pre-teens. another part of me wonders if it is just more of the same. However part me dislikes the current teenager in this game because of various reasons and having another life stage could fill in the gaps a bit more.

I'd sooner see the developers work on tearing out the game cas choices and rebuilding it so it is fit for purpose. if you want a theme or color running through your sims, all you have to do is pick one and it will randomly cycle though outfits that mix and match correctly and then half the trouble is eliminated in one go.

I agree with what others are saying about CAS, i find it a real tedious drag to go through, especially with more than 4 sims at a time. i must of gone through that CAS over 100 times over the last few months and i very much dislike going through it honestly.

No guarantee that saying yes will change the minds of the developers anyway, can't bet everything you have believing it is the only option.
And like the developers, people have their own opinions on what they wish to vote for and against on, nothing sad about taking a stand as we are all entitled to do.

I personally feel like it would be a waste of resources, and I’m happy with how the teens in my games look

Hard no, not only would it be a waste of resources, it feels entirely unneeded. What IS needed though is more differences between Teen and Young Adult life-stages. They're too similar, making the jump from Teen to Young Adult as it is in TS4 is almost pointless, since they can practically wear and do the same clothes activities that YA and up can do.

I'd rather they focus on improving the life stages we have. An additional, unnecessary, life stage would take away development time that could be used elsewhere.

That time could be used making our teens more distinguishable from adults.

Well, it's not as if resources are unlimited. (And that goes for all gaming companies.) They can't just do whatever they want; it has to be profitable or they would lose money. That's why budgets exist.

What I'd really like is for all sims to gradually increase in height, over time. But obviously, that would cause problems with animations and the unfortunate reality that resources are always limited.

    We need more ages.
Also, the tweens will be shorter than the young adults & be able to tell the difference between the ages.
Unfortunately, the teens are an exact duplicate to the young adults.

I've said yes purely because I really dislike the lack of differentiation between all life stages - basically as soon as they age up from child they are the same life stage until they die - just because there is really nothing that distinguishes them. If current teens were reworked to make them actual teens rather than what feels like YA, then I don't think there would be a need for pre teens. I guess I just dont feel like our current teens are teens.

No, for what everyone else said, plus then, how do you define the "preteen" stage anyway? Onset of puberty? What it that happens at 8? Boys in my family start at 8, even my father did back in the day.

Yes, one of my most wanted thing... along with preschoolers haha

What in the world is a preschooler?

Officially? 3-5 year olds, depending on school district. For how they'd apply to the sims? I personally don't see much difference between that and a toddler sim who has all skills (including potty) at 3 or better...

I knew what a real-world preschooler is, but I've never heard a 3-4 year old described as a preschooler, just as a child or toddler. That's so bizarre.

It's due to the mania for pushing formal education down onto early childhood despite the practice not producing any lasting gains and possibly doing harm when children under 6 or 7 need to be spending most of their time in free play, discovery, and using their imaginations, not sitting at a desk and with all sorts of codes, interventions, and specialists, because they struggle to accomplish too young, what could have been learned without all those issues, simply by waiting til a more appropriate age. And parents lap it up. *packs away soapbox*

No. Not this late in the game, anyway. The amount of CAS items they will have is pathetic, modders adn CAS makers will have to play mass amount of catch up to get up to speed with the amount of stuff they have... why not jsut allow kids and teens to do more? and add things like auto acne to teens, and make them less easy to look like adults? add more cringy teen fashion, and more stupid choice hairstyles, makeup and things for them to do? like a Pokemon go type activity, arcade machines...

You can already make pre-teens in-game. At least I do. On normal lifespan, the kid stage lasts 13 days. For the first half (about 6 to 7 days), I dress the sim to look between 6 to 8 years of age. The last half I dress the child stage to look between 9 to 12. The same can be done with the teen stage since on normal it is 13 days. The first half, I dress them to look between 13 to 15 years, and the last half they are dressed to look 16 to 18 years. I don't need a height difference to show age.
