The two underrated packs that I can't go without

Comments

I don't think they're underrated, but I'm just going to list all the packs I own, from cannot play without, too can play without.

Realm of Magic, It could have been better, I'm loving the modded spells that are coming out of this.
Get Together - All my builds rely on this pack specifically. and clubs of course

I think those are my top two Packs at the moment.

    Seasons - I can't go back to eternal Spring/Summer.
Dine Out - I needed restaurants.
Vampires - Vampires, and Amazing CAS, Build/Buy Content
Vintage Glamour - amazing build/buy Content
Romantic Garden - amazing build/buy Content
Get to Work - Need Police and Retail... at the time photography
Cats and Dogs - I like Huskies, German Shepards and Kittens.
Outdoor Retreat - Fire pits, wood flooring, Pine trees!
Perfect Patio - Hot tubs of course.
Get Famous - I liked the furniture and I guess I need acting, I like that we can stage sword fights hoping we get a pack where sims can blacksmith make custom armor, swords, maces, and practice sword fighting as a hobby. Get something For my Knight Club to do, but the pack was on sale for 60% off.

Is Dine Out underrated? But .. but ... I love DO. I honestly wouldn't want to play without it!!

My two underrated packs would be ..........

    Strangerville
I just love it! I have gotten so many hours of use and fun out of this pack, it's ridiculous. I mean I couldn't play my military academy without it right. It's one of the best non-active careers we have, I love playing in Strangerville & I enjoyed the mystery (twice). The atmosphere of the town is just so different and fun from the rest. It's really one of my favorites!

    City Living
I know it gets a lot of hate but I really adore CL and am so glad it's there. It's not my favorite EP - those would still be Seasons & GF, maybe also DU now - but it's right up there. Could I play without it? Yeah maybe I guess. But I definitely wouldn't want to! I love the city, the BB, the introduction of semi-active careers, its lot traits, the apartments, etc. If anything I think DU took a lot of inspiration from it. Even improved on it in many respects, but that doesn't make me love CL any less! :)

I got Strangerville on a whim, and while I haven't really played with it (haven't really played TS4 for many months, except when building), I really love the world itself. I still want to set up a cute and cozy old-fashioned, TS3-feeling world for my gothic sim to live in. These days, I get pretty bored with the look of TS4 worlds as many of them are kinda similar in general colour scheme and "suburban-ness." Oasis Springs, Strangerville and San Myshuno really keep me sane when I want to have a completely different aesthetic.

I also used to be against City Living before I actually got it, and while it doesn't add a tonne of gameplay (that I use), the dynamic of the world and the apartments are nice. I like filling up SM with lots of lots so it feels more alive and I have more to do with my sims. The build/buy is also very useful, and I built one of my absolute favourite lots there: a fancy but cozy library that fits in perfectly with the world. If you want to see it in the gallery, its name is "San Myshuno Library" (Louise_Goethals)

Thanks for suggesting your lot. It's very pretty! Just put it in San Myshuno :D

And I agree, it's mostly the dynamic of these two worlds - and how different they are from the rest - that makes me love these packs so much. :)

I probably like and use something from all the packs so I don't think any of them are bad. I don't like clubs though from Get Together. It bugs me how every sim that I add to a club gets the bored moodlet when ever they haven't gathered for a while.

GT is my favorite pack. When TS5 gets released I’ll be on this forum and cry „wHeRe Is ThE cLuB sYsTeM fRoM TS4?!?!!!“ 24/7. GT truly deserves the title „expansion pack“ imo.

I agree 100%! This pack totally Expanded the game with full of possibilities and content across different packs and I love it. This pack puts Island Living to shame in my opinion. That pack didn't felt it expanded the features we already had in the game rather than just add new content like a gamepack. But honestly tho, even Parenthood expanded the gameplay compared to that.

If there is one thing that they did bad with Get Together, it was the Awful Cringy Gamescom Presentation :D If you are not in the forums back then, I must say you are so lucky! :D Heck the reaction is even worst than the no toddlers announcement :D

I use Movie Hangout Stuff constantly, mostly for the movies, because it’s an easy way to force guests to socialize with my sims. 😄 I also love the furniture, curtains, and I absolutely adore the ceiling lights.

Another one I think is under appreciated would be Backyard Stuff. I love the drink tray, especially for holidays they like to drink on, and it’s also super convenient for storing aspiration potions and hiding them away in the attic (because it would be a shame for sims to die with all those wasted aspiration points.) I also love the wind chimes, sometimes they’re just a nice touch, and pretty hilarious if you have a hot-headed sim (anybody hear that prank caller on Howard who has the really loud wind chimes?? LOL) Then there’s the bird feeder which is also cute and funny for hot-headed sims. Oh, there’s also a pinwheel that comes in handy if you need your sim to get dazed to shoot a trending video.

I like Get Together well enough, but Dine Out has always promised more than it’s delivered. The idea is sound, having restaurants is nice, but it’s never quite worked the way I want it to, either due to bugs or poor implementation.

    @LadyKyn
The main reason people complained about Get Together was because of their sims being constantly invited into going to the clubs with them (pretty much all the time, which can sometime sometimes be true), but they could've just simply declined or done something about said lot to help solve that issue. :/

Wasnt really talking about others complaining about that? More so addressing if people mentiones clubs really being the only thing noteworthy thing brought to the table.

Ususlly have my sims phone on vibrate as I nevet see any messages. :*

City Living and Dine Out for me

City Living has so many features i love from karaoke to bubble blowers. i've loved it from the first day i got it and i'm still not bored of it

Dine Out is a must for me. can't live without restaurants in my game. i love all the gameplay options from eating at restaurants to actually owning and running one, great build mode items and some pretty nice CAS things too. it really says something that even though it's pretty buggy it's still fantastic

I use the clubs from Get Together pretty much every day. They're so versatile!

I know I go on and on about this pack, but Strangerville is still my favorite underrated pack. I love the world so much.
Ooh Be Gah!! Whipna Choba-Dog? Whipna Choba-Dog!!

I don't use DO a ton, but 100% agreed on GT, and it always perplexes me when people rank it near the bottom for EPs! For me, it's my favourite along with C&D and CL! My Sims adore going clubbing, I love having cute cafes and cafe stations through my worlds, and Windenburg is just gorgeous and full of detail and life (have you seen MLys' Windenburg Old Town builds? I use all three and the library, and they're amazing!). Absolutely wonderful EP.

For other underrated packs I love, apparently Romantic Garden Stuff is consistently rated near the bottom, which I don't understand. The items are beautiful, CAS and BB alike. For the GPs, I love the oft-maligned Outdoor Retreat, and it was one of the first I bought. And yeah, adore Strangerville too!

I'd say my top three of each pack type are Get Together, Cats & Dogs (animals! Brindleton Bay! The items!), and City Living as my number one favourite (I adore San Myshuno, I love decorating apartments, and it adds so much detail to the world!). For GPs, Jungle Adventure (my favourite TS3 one was World Adventures, too!), Realm of Magic, and Vampires (I like supernatural. And I like the Vatores and Morgyn!), although honestly, I love almost all the GPs with the exception of Spa Day and Dine Out, which I just like. And for SPs, Movie Hangout (the boho aes!), Laundry Day (mostly for the aes, not so much the... doing laundry), and Romantic Garden.

What are the bugs in DO? I keep seeing people, on this thread and others, talk about how buggy it is but I haven't seen anyone mention specific examples yet.

Anyway, to answer the question, I would have to say DO haha. I only have four game/expansion packs but I really like DO so far. I really missed having actual restaurants in the game, and I like how other Sims will do things like invite my sim out to eat to talk about a recent loss, or to try and repair their relationship.

I also love GT. I use clubs for everything. I love having all the kids come over and do their homework with my kid! And then they sit around the fire pit and tell stories :) When my guy was working on Angling Ace, the fishing club really helped keep him company. When I was pollinating my town (no mods here), the Love Club really came through for the romantic interactions and easy pregnancies. My elders get bored, but we have the gardening club and the yoga club. We even have a club for cleaning and repairing, because the butler is too lazy.

The second one I can't do without is Seasons. I just like the changing weather - especially the thunderstorms. Nothing special about the pack, it just gives me what I want.

I enjoyed Dine Out a lot when I took my family out. The only problem is I don't tend to get them out as much as I should...
Same with CL and OR... had fun with it when I was using it, but just not using it often.

Gt and DO are great and I agree with all the love that has been expressed here.

I love Spa Day. There is not a build I own that doesn't contain about 25% spa day products. The tiles and wall textures are so beautiful and very different from other packs. I love the candles and other decorative objects. I love yoga and meditation as gameplay additions. As well as giving a new skill to work on.

Get Famous is hated on a lot because of its small world. The celebrity lots are so beautiful to build on and have marvellous views. The CAS is extensive and beautiful plus adds a lot of costumes for cosplay etc I also find its build buy very beautiful and versatile and use it in every build. Plus the stage set objects make great decorations for community lots etc.
I love the fame gameplay and have played through the acting career plus 4 other non GF careers so far gaining celebrity status in each. The replayability is high as you do different things in each career to gain and maintain fame.

The premades in this pack have so much personality. Thorne Baikey and Judith especially. While initially annoying their potential to add drama and storylines far outweighs that.

i think it's that sometimes the gameplay for Dine Out doesn't always run super smoothly. like how talking to the sims at the table, waiting for the food and eating the food can be a little iffy at times in terms of action cuing. overall several things need to go right for it to function well. that's just my experience though, i don't speak for everyone. sometimes there are specific bugs like that one earlier this year when random sims would come and steal food. things like that

For me Strangerville and Island Living. Strangerville is one of the few packs to add completely new features such as the linear mystery storyline. The town is the best we got in any game pack and it us very different from any other world we got in the S4. The other one is Island Living just because Sulani is yhd most visually stunning world we have in the S4 and also swimming in the ocean feels pretty basic to me.

I love Get Together. I pretty much use all of it's features. I use clubs the least but it depends on my play style. I have used them for my single sims who are making friends and romantic interests. I love Windenburg. I love the nightclubs as it's great for socialising with other sims. I also love it when you are in a party and you can perform dance routines with them. I also like the pool for my kids to get together. I also take my sims on dates to The Bluffs and Von Haunt Estate.

I adore Dine Out. I don't find it that buggy but I do have to make sure that bladder and hygiene are full though otherwise it is a pain. But I always download pretty restaurants from the gallery for my sims to go out on dates together.

I love Get Famous too. I love the fame system. I love how you can get famous by writing books and painting.

I probably use Get to Work and the Vampires packs the least. I love active careers for single sims but I hate it when I'm playing families because I like to micro manage my households and very gial orientated. That's the only thing I miss from TS3 really is that I could manage all the sims in a household at once. For Vampires I really don't use any content at all. I don't have Strangerville or Realm of Magic.

I love Brindleton Bay in Cats and Dogs and I love making animal companions for my sims. I also love the Wellness skill in Spa Day and I use the yoga mats and Spas for my sims frequently. I've only just got Island Living so I'm yet to explore Sulani and I've also got to explore El Salvadora.

    Spa Day besides Dine Out.

Spa Day came with several premade community lots which are pretty useful.
The pack might be underrated, but is very useful when sims come stressful home from work or their muscles hurt from training. Frankly, do you prefer calming down in a mirror or pay like §150 for a massage when you are stressful? I prefer sending my sims for a massage.

To me, Dine out is most useful together with City Living and Jungle Adventure as it offers the option of adding dishes and drinks from some food stalls to the menu in order to allow sims to learn how to cook the dishes around the clock at known lots.

Get together is definitely one of the packs I personally consider must-haves after things like Seasons and Parenthood. I originally got it just because aesthetically speaking the world is stunning and is right up my alley. But considering the club aspect just keeps growing with each pack that comes, it's something I find myself relying on and making use of quite a bit. I don't think I would spend as much time with extended family, friends etc. if it weren't for the club system. I've had voidcritter guilds between my active household and their cousins and friends, cul-de-sac housewife clubs, vampiric poetry club, elders often meet up to bake, garden, and will soon also knit. I put the top tier celebrities in a club together and they escape the spotlight to hide out in Sulani for dubious activities.

The possibilities really does it for me. It can be simple things like children spending time with their grandparents or complex cults or whatnot. Definitely making a coven for my spellcasters soon.

Get Together is ok, but Dine Out is so buggy that it should be retired unless it's fixed.

Lol no. It should just be fixed.

But right now after the latest patch it's working quite well. There are still bugs surrounding the experimental food photo's though.

I liked (Edit: Vintage Glamour), because it gave me a butler, and I'm always using one if I have a rich sim. Plus the furniture is good, so it's definitely underrated. My second underrated pack is probably spa day since the wellness skill will let your sims teleport, (even though there are lots of teleport options in the game now.) I love the interactions with the spa day items. My other favorite packs would be Vampires, RoM, GTW, GF. University is growing on me, but the act of stressing my sims out is simultaneously stressing me out too lol!
