Resort Island file name

ParaleeParalee Posts: 1,166 Member
So I was poking around the files today cause I'm new to modding and I just wanted to see what everything does and looks like. Anyway, in the Island Living expansion one of the file names in the world file is EP7_ResortIsland

I find this strange since once of the things the community (including myself) was disappointed about with the pack was the lack of vacation spots or keyword, resorts in a world that would be perfect for such things.

Do you think this means we will in fact get resorts? Cause to me with that odd choice in name that it means they actually did/do plan for us to be able to do more with Sulani in the future
My speculations on hints for future content:
-Cars Update
-Spiral/Diagonal Stairs Update
-Hotel Pack
-Romance Pack (possibly combined with Hotel Pack)
-Bands Pack
-Royalty Pack
-Fashion Design Pack
-Fairies Pack
-Werewolf Pack
-France-inspired World

It's possible that they originally wanted to make it a vacation world, but ended up going with residential instead.

I'm glad they didn't include resorts. The team decided to focus on an island world that centers the residents who actually live on the island, rather than doing the Resorts thing and making it about wealthy outsiders building on top of their homes for profit.

If that's true, I'm heavily disappointed. The main reason I lost interest in Island Living was the lack of hotels, which would fit perfectly with the tropical world imo. I do hope they add hotels and resorts in the future.

I'm glad IL didn't have hotels. It was different from the same old, same old that they always do.

I'm glad they didn't add hotels (or active scuba diving and lifeguard career) to the EP. I'm also glad that when they didn't add those things that didn't replace it with anything better. Because if they did, then we'd actually have something fun to do there and not get quickly bored with the game. :DB)o:)

Isn't it wonderful that that those features are available in Sims 3? I never did complete the Lifeguard career so I'll have to check that out when I get around to playing 3 again.

What big feature would you say we gained from past Island packs that would take the development time of a resort system that makes you happy about having less. Seeing as ocean swimming is a given and done better with actual diving is it trash Island? I really cant think of anything else major added in this pack that would make me think yes we lost a feature and got this.

Yes, TS3 is a much better game and Island Paradise a much better EP for it! There's so much fun things to do! You'd think if they weren't going to add those things to TS4 that they would at least add more different things to the EP for TS4 to make it a legit EP (not GP) so that people aren't so quickly bored with it.

Pro-Tip: For the lifeguard career, add things to the beaches where they are patrolling if you want them to do other stuff in between rescues like build skills and such (add gym equipment, easel, invention station, etc.). You can manually send them to people that are drowning in the ocean or fainting on the beach. Also, you can you have them automatically patrol the beach and do the rescues themselves if you don't want to manually control their active career - there is that option in their pie menu.

Thanks for the tip! I still have so much I haven't experienced in TS3 but I find it confusing to jump between games so it's on hold for the time being.

I would love to have a real hotel/ motel pack that we could use, also a casino pack. I thought maybe they would add one as a game pack. But, I add my own hotels to the game. I team them with a bar, night club or lounge. I added another basement to the ship wreck lot and made it a night club on the first basement and below I added a rustic kind of hotel or rental. It works well when I have a DJ I want to make money at night. I can send the rest of that young adult household to sleep or work on work assignments there at the same time. Sometimes I will send sims to a residential lot in Sulani, like I am renting it. Since I think we can now give people money, or so I read somewhere, you could send your sim to someone on the island ( pretending they are the owner), and give them money for rent. I also have a lot I downloaded that looks like a dragon that is marked as a bar, because they have one incorporated. They have bedrooms/ kitchen, rest rooms etc. it is really a cute lot and I have used it as a hotel for a long time. Another lot I downloaded looks like an old fashioned western town, with a cemetery, saloon, home, railway station, etc. I have it marked as a lounge because it has instruments and a mic in the saloon. This was made long before ‘Get famous’ and I used it as a tourist attraction. After get famous, I added spots with cameras and X marked practice scenes. My sims can spend the night there too. I think you could also make hotels with restaurants or cafe’s if you want to also. Probably pretty much any lot.

I think Island Living was originally made as a Gamepack with resorts but they changed it at the last minute to an Expansion Pack. Does that mean we're not getting resorts? No I just think we'll get a Hotels Gamepack.

Probably it was planned in an early stage of the process and abandoned later.
Maybe they prefer to do it better in a Hotel GP like they did for the restaurant feature separated from the Downtown EP.

Surfing hotels renting a cabin and buying a holiday home its like they took out all the features and said here's your game pack at this price of a expansion. The survey sounds like so much fun so much game play could be had and we got the mess known as Island Living.

What do you mean by this? I have Get Famous, but I'm not aware of any way to create my own x-marked practice scenes. Do you mean, similar to when people are doing the active career, and stand on the x-marked spot when they do a scene?

Ooh Be Gah!! Whipna Choba-Dog? Whipna Choba-Dog!!

You can buy many of the acting things in build mode to place in any lot. This includes those "X" spots so you can act out scenes wherever you'd like.
