I never understand the the "sims4 is rated T for Teen argument" whenever people are asking for stuff. Because if you go by the ESRB ratings, here are some other games that are rated T for Teen: Fortnite, Destiny 2, Overwatch and Apex Legends. All are games where you run around and shoot people, but as soon as we start asking for stuff like more ways for our sims to die, then it is suddenly "because the game is T for teen".

What plum me off, as well few other people I talked to, when one of the developers use said argument why they aren't willing (from implication) to create casinos/gambling of some sorts in the game. Like hell, said developers also pull other two weak arguments, one of which is absurd and the other speaks for the player that clearly is incorrect or pretending to be oblivious to own's misinformation. I guess renaming the activity just like drinking bar's juice (which for some reason exists despite others resentment due to the rating) wasn't in their heads. Though the term was never dysphemish and I don't think the term "gambling" still poses rating threat.

There is a reason they drop using the "You rule!" slogan, as it was the opposite thing how the game represented itself. Nobody but the devs rule and what we say we want they disagree that "but you dont want x/y in the game". It's a vicious cycle I tell you.

Ts3 has a casino venue, has blackjack, poker and roulette tables (group activities), plus slot machines and poker machines. Your sims can also buy lottery tickets. And TS3 is rated T for Teens. I don't know why the dev said they can't add them to TS4?

I would guess development team still (at least the leading personal) all cared is about marketing the game than compiling with popular demands. It was all about attaining the new casual players, introducing them to the latest game. Kinda of explains the Alexa pet project thing in a way and why people were bated to watch the stream affliated with it before giving any information what it will be about.

Could it be the nearly 16 million followers The Sims 4 has on facebook, most of which sound overjoyed at everything they are doing on Sims 4 be the ones they are listening to the most seeing there is rarely more than 400 players on this forum. The only time I see a differing of opinion on facebook Sims 4 is when someone from here posts over there and many followers quickly disagree with them. I only go there because all the younger set of my family goes there to post - I never post there but read what my young family members say and believe me they are thrilled with SIMS 4. Also note many young folks like the juice thing - they are not into alcohol like young folks were even 10-15 years ago. I see that a lot. They all want juice health bars at gyms and spas even. Today young folks are not the teens and twenty somethings many of us older simmers were. They are also anti-killing of any kind. So perhaps with Facebook feeding directly to EA and Maxis - it really covers over what is posted here.

Bringing up the forum here get you poo-poohed over on facebook. They think the forum are awful with nothing but complaints from what I have seen in the past (I haven't mentioned the forums lately though.)

I know they all love Island Living too. Only a small handfull agreed with hotels - many seemed to like it like it was but to maybe allow apt building there or rentals. Being a vacation spot also was not mentioned a lot.

Uhh, what? Go to the post where they updated their cover photo and announced the redesign (not linking here due to real names used on FB).

First comment, " Now just fix the neighborhoods and let us create our own towns. The TS4 neighborhoods are the most disappointing thing of the entire game. Such a stepback." Then, amid some positivity, there are comments very consistent with the forums and the subreddit of how people think the color changes are a headache to look at, some people asking for a reverse, some asking for TS5, etc.

The only difference is the forums tend to have more passionate and enthused fans, as you really need to go out of your way to register and start posting here as opposed to just clicking a FB page with the account you already have.

I agree, it’s very mixed. People complaining (How dare they??) about bugs, asking about university. Not all sunshine and rainbows no matter how people may want to perceive it.

    I 2nd that agree.

All I see is people asking for either University, open world or TS5 in the comments lol

It's called scrubbing. FB does this to make you think something is trending when in fact over on Twitter, (facts) 80% of everything trending on Twitter is generated by only 10% of users. People are being controlled by 10% of a population or 'community'.

    Wow didn't know that!

It's why google, FB, Twitter, and now Youtube are echo chambers. You see what you want to see, and not the truth. They show you what they want you to see. That doesn't mean it's reality.

    Very useful marketing tools.

A lot of people do not understand how that stuff works. The developers chose to make this game super kid-friendly, it wasn’t like the ESRB was twisting their arms about it. They could get away with a lot of things without jeopardizing the T rating.

Like they did with the other versions of the series.

Couldn't agree more to be honest - the main selling point for me is the core gameplay and I felt like TS4 really lacked.
I was actually really disappointed (like a sinking feeling) when I first played in 2014 and didn't have the heart to say anything as it was a birthday gift).

The game collected dust for about 4 years before I played it again and I still feel as though it's missing something... comparing that to when I first played TS3 and spent a long time just running on the streets in the neighbourhood just because I could now, it was just new and so immersive.

If you ask me any future The Sims game (if there even is one) needs to sell me on the core experience before I even consider investing any time and money.

All of what happened since 2014 its annoying for players that don't get along with TS4 but still love this series!

Many thanks. I'm keeping an eye on this one for sure. I'm not crazy about the art style. However, if the 'characters' are anywhere near as innovative as the build system... <3

    We'll see. ::crosses fingers::

It took me a long time to get into TS4, but I'm loving it now.
I find it hard to find time to go back to TS3, but I have to since I have so much history there.

Opinions about The Sims 4 have always been pretty mixed/negative, despite the gurus and the game changers trying to sugar-coat everything and pretend they are excited for freaking door recolors. (Are our expectations THAT low? Really?) But they don't care, they never did. They act like they listen to our feedback but it's a lie, if they did we would already have cars, burglars, firefighters, they would be working in improving the game's AI, the traits, and basically everything this community has been asking for since 2014. But what do we get? A Moschino stuff pack! Amazing.

I think this team (many were on TS3) are burnt out and really they have mentioned before it's hard to come up with new ideas for this series. I dsagree with them there, but I think burn out shows really evident all over TS4.

I don't feel it's necessary for the devs to be suffering from burnout. It is possible that it may well indeed be difficult to come up with new ideas but from my own perspective, it's not necessary. All they need to do is provide tools which would allow their players to come up with their own ideas, of which I'm sure there are many.

For instance, let players place lots where they want to within a world.
Let Players create visitors lots where they can put various items which npc's would automatically use, no matter what the lot type. I'm not saying make them all like this, but at least allow for it, as in Sims 3.
Let players create their own environments, like creating hotels and guest houses, prisons, hospitals, farms .... players have been asking for these things for a very, very, very long time.
    Give players a colour wheel
Give players a create a pattern tool and a create a world tool
Bring back a town centre which Sims could visit, with the possibility for players to add their own grocery and book store, town hall, etc.
Bring back cars and bicycles so that we can watch our sims travel on the map.
Let Sims walk together, sit together, go on dates together without interruptions and group chat everywhere they go.

If these things were implemented back into the game, I would begin playing the game again with a vengeance. Until then, the game remains a little on the ...pfff side.

The sims 4 has been the strongest entry at least in visual and inovation in the whole franchise. I must admit something about the lack of randomness and too much control made the game feel different that its predecessors but still the game has some many details and by now we all the expansions its a very complete game, hopefully the redesign means we have sims 4 years to come

Yes it was strong for Visuals but Innovation I would say not so much but then it is all subjective.

Careful what you wish for. I fear the Sims 5 will be a disaster filled with microtransactions and surprise lootbox mechanics.

EA wants constant easy money, and gambling addicts spending daily on microtransactions is even easier money than releasing half baked expansions for the Sims.

I'd prefer them to stop releasing content for Sims 4 for a while and fix the game. It runs like garbage, performance varies so much that it never makes sense.... I can get as much as 80-120 FPS on some lots at times and then it tanks to sub 30 fps for no reason at all, even when the game is paused.

No idea what the hell the game is chugging on either, performs the same at the lowest or highest settings, obviously a cpu optimization problem somewhere. Maybe they need to look into adding a directx 12 or vulcan mode to unburden the game engine onto more cpu cores.

It'd be nice if they found a way to allow the game to use more cpu cores, i don't see it more than a few and that's a joke in 2019 to have a game so poorly optimized.

It's been like that since strangerville patch, sometime pausing the game(pressing esc) works and stabilise the fps, but most of the time it wont.

Can you use "Set Affinity" to allow for more cpu cores or is it hard coded that it will only use a certain number of them?

It's going to be a good while before we're even told what TS5 is going to be like. They've already said TS4 got a few more years left in it. With that all being said, I think what the sims truly need is something to rival good to rival the series. For instance how Cities Skylines rivaled Sim City. I'm not going to insult the Sims though. I personally enjoy TS4, even though the latest "EP" and I put that in quotes because I feel that the "EP" was more like a SP. But overall I still enjoyed it a bit.

What that all being said..I'd be careful with that. We know nothing of TS5, we don't know what it's going to be like or anything like that. Also, I truly wouldn't be looking forward to buying the same DLCs all over again.

Anyone else just going to move onto that newly announced paralives? I’m getting the urge to boycott ts5 cos this 1 person dev fan game is shaping up to have more content in its base game than the sims 4 has ever had and it’s nowhere near alpha yet.

Sadly ts4 have a lot of shorten opportunity. No Memories from TS2 (i very big fan TS2 and so i'll be compare this games), no many cute interactions with kids (baby, toddler and child), for example family kiss, kids havent games interactions (show wheels, or hide and seek)... okay, its about interactions. Where is emoutions? No, the game have it, but its so not real. I mean in TS2 sims showing natural emoutions. Its cute and you sympathise him, you glad for him.
Every life stage done very well. Every have some features. Also sim have temper, in TS4 sim have not personality, when in TS2 every sim is different and not similar with other.
Where is Neighborhood Creator? In TS3 and TS2 has it. You could create your own neighborhood how do you want, but in TS4 you cant.
In TS2 every family have bio, family tree, but no TS4. Family there is just family, no different with other.
Soundtrack from TS2 its masterpiece. Sound beautiful and you can dance on some soundtrack. xD
DLC was big, include many interactions, items, clothes, hair... in TS4 not many.

Sorry for my english and my word confusion, i have many mind for this topic, but i cant remember all right now xD

And what’s even nicer is the fact that the single dev of Paralives has their own Discord where he communicates with fans and asks for ideas. Here, we can write essays and huge posts and EA would still rather partner with YouTubers to hear their feedback, over any fan who has invested probably more time and money into the game. It’s just disappointing, especially with all of the talented creators that make content that get hundreds of thousands of downloads with each of their uploads.

I just joined it! It's pretty exciting that you can post what you hope for there and that the dev interacts with us!

I’ll be the first in line!

What I love about that project is how it isn’t just about the fact it has habitable yachts, rideable horses, pets, weather, etc. (all the vanity stuff) in the BASE game but the fact the dev is focused on gameplay. Making sure choices matter, focusing on AI, development of the people we play with, and more of the sort.

The Sims has lost its way sometime between TS3 and TS4. It’s become too focused on the vanity — things we just look at and go, “ooh!” rather than things that would actually make for a fun game. In Island Living, for instance, we can ride boats. But there’s nothing else to them; you just watch your Sim randomly float around. It barely satisfies their fun need too, as watching TV fills it up far faster than riding a boat in paradise.

It’s the same way with virtually everything. They charge us $20 a piece for restaurants and spas, when those should be tiny components of a much larger picture. It’s why I love TS2; things of that sort such as restaurants were just bundled in a pack with the theme of socialization and night life and it felt like a small part of something much bigger. I just feel like I’m being squeezed for every cent with The Sims now.

And Live mode shouldn’t just be for people who like to tell stories. I love playing The Sims as a life simulator game — where I get challenged, work from nothing, deal with random consequences and events, have to actually use skills aside from making money through them. And I love the feeling of progression in my game, having a Sim go from poor quality furniture, barely affording the groceries, and a job that maybe they took because nothing else was available, to “fancy” everything, with their dream job. This all felt incredibly toned down in TS4, compared to all of the predecessor games.

And what’s even nicer is the fact that the single dev of Paralives has their own Discord where he communicates with fans and asks for ideas. Here, we can write essays and huge posts and EA would still rather partner with YouTubers to hear their feedback, over any fan who has invested probably more time and money into the game. 100% true!
I will try the new game for sure and I know many Simmers from Poland, who are interested too.
I like this game but after last patch I’m mad. They rebranding still bugged game. Children of vampires and mermaids are bugged (vampire without tree of skills, with mermaid powers... useless, unplayable Sims, catastrophy!), this is so important for players but they prefer to make new covers instead of fix things!). In restaurant other Sims stealing food front the table of ours characters, I can write all night and day!

It’s sad, that the producers focusing on graphics, when many of interesting interactions looks unfinished. For example „what do you think about other Sim?” there are only several answers, positive - „I like him” or „I love him” and negative - „I don’t like him” or „he is my enemy”. And where are: „he’s my ex”, „I crush in him”, „he is my good friend”, „my best friend”, not to mention of family connections. And I don’t believe, that is impossible to add some more lines...

I don‘t really like the design of the rebrand. And I also hope we won‘t be getting small worlds anymore, Del Sol Valley is pretty, but a missed opportunity to add more lots since it‘s supposed to be a city

You mean that mobile game that they call a PC game? No thanks. Unless the graphics surpass TS4, I'm not wasting my money on it.
