Note To Self: Make Sure You Have What You Need Before You Plan That Holiday …

«1
I thought this might be a fun little thread. I switched to the 4-week season calendar in my game. Since all the usual holidays were in the completely wrong season, I decided to 'create' my own. Problem is, I started in the summer season with this game save and before I knew it, Liberty Day was upon my Sims. I flat out forgot that we could neither get fireworks via the phone or buy mode. Face/palm.

I actually missed going to the Hijinks Festival, which is where you can purchase said items. I'm not even certain it showed up, let alone for me to remember. :open_mouth:

Okay, that's my story. Please share your 'Note to Self' moments, in which you wish you could go back and fix what went wrong.

Oh, and thanks for playing along. :)

Note to self: Always check your sim's energy level before sending them out at night to a party/dance/outing or anything else that will keep them out till late in the night. Helps to take a nap earlier in the day. Just yesterday my sim got a phone call from a guy she likes asking her not on a date, but to go dancing. She got there, chatted a bit, and then crashed. lol

Note to self: make sure to lock the door to animals the moment you decide to use the home trait dog/cat hangout. If you don't do it, dogs/cats will start entering your home, sleeping in your couch... And it takes a lot of time to make them leave. At least that happened in my game.

NOTE TO SELF: Check the quality of a Pufferfish Nigiri dish at a 1-star seafood restaurant before eating it. During a date, my sim's girlfriend ate some Pufferfish Nigiri (she was still in a good mood at the time) and collapsed :( .

Before stealing the spacecraft at the Geekcon and setting off in it my Sims need more building spacecraft experience. I got accused of conspiracy by the space police and crashed.

I did have that thought in mind, but for some odd reason, I couldn't find them. I may have only checked the phone, though, come to think of it. d'Oh!

Yes. I found Father Winter building a spacecraft there and helped him for a bit. I found a complete one on the lot and was offered the chance to fly it so I did! This game has some very funny and surprising moments.

On the "wish you had done before you go on holiday" I wish that I had put heating in all my lots in Outdoor Retreat after I got Seasons. I killed quite a few Sims off the first time winter came around.

Lol I remember turning up to Bonfire Night at the local park without fireworks... I cheated them out of buydebug ;)

Note to self: do not take toddlers on holiday with no toys. Do not go camping without a tent or food hamper. Do not throw a birthday party without preparing the cake.

Note to self: Don't put a party bush on the property of a family with pets. Doesn't matter if it's a cat or a dog, they will constantly pick fights with squirrels in the bush and, more often than not, come out sick. Would have been nice to know this before I started designing my garden around that stupid bush.

Note to self: Don't work from home in the Social Media career until you've met at least one of your co-workers, or know where one lives, otherwise any tasks related to chatting with co-workers become impossible to fulfil before the next day. Trust me, you don't want to run around asking random strangers about their job just so you can find someone to talk to.

    Play with my Vampyra Sim:
Note to self, please do not forget to breed frog every 3hr and half for the endless supply of Plasma Juice. It's nice to do some fishing, but such activity takes time, not suitable if the Simpyra has other tasks to do. Also another, Plasma Fruit should be use for Plasma Salad material ONLY. More economical compare with Plasma Jane. 1 Plasma Jane Drink cost 1 Plasma Fruit material vs 8 bowls of Plasma Salad cost 1 Plasma Fruit material.

Note to self: Pay attention to vampire needs. I just created my first vampire yesterday, and within about an hour he was dead from sun exposure. 😯

Yes, they do. And it can be infuriating! LOL

Yep, I exited without saving as fast as I could! Unfortunately, I discovered I hadn't saved since before I built his house, so I basically had to start over.

On that note, I wish we could turn off mortality completely. There's enough death in the real world. I've turned off auto-aging, but obviously it doesn't help with crispy vampires.

Note to self: when your sim lives in a warm/temperate climate area like Del Sol Valley, remember that if you send your sim off to another world for a festival or a dance party in winter it could very well be 🐸🐸🐸🐸 snow storming out when you get there!

Note to self: Before you go to Selvadorada with your cats, visit the vet to buy wellness treats from the vending machine. Otherwise, guess who is cutting their vacation short after they play in the woo hoo bushes one too many times?

This is another reason why I use MCCC. I can change their clothes with two clicks. ;)

Changing clothes with two clicks doesn't require MCCC, it's a base game feature. (Well, it's technically three clicks, because you first click on the sim, then "Change Outfit", then the outfit itself, but still.) It seems to me that MCCC works like coffee, it makes people think they can no longer live without it, not remembering that some things were just as easy before. :|

Note to self: Check on your dog's needs before going for a walk. I have this stupid fox who always whines about not being walked enough, and when I do it, he gets tired halfway through and slows everything down by walking at a snail's pace.

I agree to some extent about MCCC being like coffee. I never used to use such cheats in the past, so whether they're there or not, I find it easy to just click the Sim, click on MCCC and then click dresser. It's actually four clicks by the time I click on the desired outfit. ;)

I don't play with pets anymore. They're far more trouble than my RL Beagle pups! Would that we could have a bird in the game, again. Ah, me …

    @GalacticGal
I once tried MCCC, but when it started doing stuff to my game I didn't want and didn't know how to stop, it had to go. Two years later, I'm still discovering things in my main save that only MCCC could have done back then, because I never installed any other mods that could have caused unplayed sims to have babies and unemployed premades to get jobs on their own. I don't need this kind of coffee in my game, but I also don't drink real coffee, so yeah.

I know what you mean about pets, or dogs at least, they're too needy for my taste as well. This game has actually convinced me that the whining of a dog is the most annoying sound in the world, even more so than a baby's cry. I assumed getting a cat would be easier, and yeah, easier it is indeed, because they are basically just moving decoration, never requiring or doing anything interesting. Too bad, because unlike coffee, I actually love cats in real life!

Note to self, related to the above: Have a baby instead of getting a pet (in TS4 at least). The little one will at least become useful at some point.
