Am I The Only One?

I made sure to pull my Mods folder before I updated my game. But for some reason I have the sense that it didn't update all the way. Regardless, I can't get into my game. Every time I try to play it, the game crashes. I even tried to refresh the game folder by pulling that to let it start anew. Game crashes. This is frustrating as I was looking forward to seeing what's new and to perhaps try out some of the new careers.

If I'm the only one having this problem, can somebody please help me understand what I need to do? Please, and thank you, in advance.

Did you delete your local thumb cache file?

@GalacticGal, have you tried to repair the game? I'd think that repairing *should* replace any missing files...

Just make sure to move your mods, saves & tray folders out first ☺ (which I'm sure you know to do, but just a friendly reminder).

I updated my game, and it gave me every bug they tried to take out. I'm glad I'm not the only one having problems.

Does the game crash after you select a save or before? If it happens after you select the save you have to create a back up save and use that. If it happens before there’s a few things you can try.

    Try running origin as administrator
Try playing the game in offline mode
Try running the game in window mode
Also make sure if you have 64bit the game is running in 64bit.( this happened to me a few times with new updates)
Make sure also origin does not automatically open when you start up your pc.

Anytime Origin has an update, I wait till it says it is finished. Then I go to my library and right click to "check for updates" and......believe it or not, it updates again (usually only takes a second though) then Sims Deluxe pack? pops up for an update (because it would need one every time with patches)......then it is finished.
I always wondered why it would say it finished (sometimes would say 96% done, but after the Deluxe got done, it would be 100%) and it is finished then. So I always double check it :D

Always. I do that before I play every single time. I shall give it another go today. It's a new day, so it has to be better, right? I just discovered, too, that I removed stuff from the MCCC folder I shouldn't have when we got the hotfix. I think I've put back what was then missing, but we'll see.

If things go awry again today, I most certainly will give that another go. Although I believe I did try that yesterday. I also tried to pull the whole game folder so a new one would regenerate. :open_mouth: My whole worry was whether or not the game truly updated all of the way. I left my desk, briefly, only to come back to a curious message that left me wondering if things had been interrupted. Both my Beagle puppies disavowed any wrong-doing on their parts … Oh, well, today is a new day. Hoping for the best! Many thanks to all of you who have responded with very helpful suggestions!

If a repair don't get it going today, you might should head over to AHQ and post there and they might can help you get it sorted out. :)

All is well, thank you. I opened Origin and completed whatever it was doing. Finalizing my base game and then it went on to all of my packs. I can play my game, again. Yay!
