So, thanks to Prime Day, I order a laptop solely for gaming. I did all the research and asked around and finally settled on an MSI.
I really only play two games -- the sims and an online rpg Tera. And several people told me that the specs (below) would be more than enough, but I'm getting a low disc space warning and the C: drive is practically full???
Is there a way to fix this or did I spend almost a grand on a laptop I can only use for the Sims? (Not that that's a bad thing but it's not what I spent so much money for).

It would be best to move /install the game on the D drive.. It would also be best to move your documents folder to the D drive also.
Make a new folder on the D drive where you want to install the game and name it.
To change where the sims 4 game is installed , go to Application settings in Origin , and the setting will be under "Installs and Saves " Browse through until you can find the new folder that you have created on the D drive. Set that folder as the place to install the game.
This link explains how to move your sims 4 game to another drive without needing to uninstall , download and reinstall it again.

If you would prefer, you could just uninstall the Sims 4, then reinstall it on the D drive, rather than using the using the link that I posted, that saves you from uninstalling /reinstalling the game. The link just saves you from needing to download the Sims 4 game again,
Perhaps you could ask a family member or a friend who is used to computers, to help you do the things I posted

Rose gave instructions on how to move the documents folder over to the much larger HDD. On top of that, you can change the default download location on your browser over to the larger drive via settings. Game clients like Origin and Steam let you change download location via settings as well. Whenever you download most things, it should ask what drive you want to install onto. Again...
default will be the C drive but you can change it to the larger drive.
So, not exactly a weird glitch in the system happening to new computers.. it's by design. The only reason more people are coming across this is because SSDs are expensive but faster so manufacturers use smaller SSDs for the OS - default drive (C). Before they were common or even around, computers for the most part came with one writable drive of relevant size and sometimes a disk reader.
