To me that wouldn't make sense. Laundry is exactly what I didn't have in my home when I first had my own place. A stove and fridge? Check. Laundry? Who could afford their own washer and dryer? (I did wash things in the sink sometimes and dry them on radiators, though.) A sofa bed would be more a "fit" as a gameplay object here for me - multi-purpose but available-cheap furniture. Maybe half-fridges and hotplates, for semi-kitchens.
I'm also, like you, not convinced laundry fits in "Eco" either unless we only get high-end front loaders and hand laundry with line drying. And I really want laundry! Honestly I'd just rather see a separate laundry pack.

Laundry for me wouldn't fit in starter home because you are looking at cheap and small when you first get a home. I'm in total agreement with @luthienrising there.
Public washing rooms/places could fit. When I first move out I shared one washer and dryer with 18 other people.
+ I don't think the names/themes are set in stone yet. If the laundry theme and starting house get the most votes they might combine it.
Space saving laundry could become a thing!

Ya instead of used furniture it's re-used furniture. Instead of buying furniture you could help the earth vy buying furniture that's already in existence. That could get us used furniture. An space saving if you want to save the earth you would want to live in small quarters and if your saving energy why not save some space. This could also work in CAS having used clothes that were recycled.
When your Sims move house and sell all their furniture off - that furniture could be put into a "Store" or "Charity" shop and resold to poor Sims as secondhand furniture.
I bought a lot of that when I bought my flat/apartment and gave most to the Charity shops when rich enough to afford new stuff. (Mortgage paid off last Sunday)!!

I wish the stuff we sold could end up at the flea market in San Myshuno, instead of seeing the same items over and over. I know venues aren't part of an SP, but it would be cool to have a second hand shop where we could sell and buy our used stuff.
Where I live almost everyone has a washing machine and a clothes line or clothes drying rack (but not a dryer), even in starter homes. It's considered a basic appliance just like a fridge or a stove. Laundromats do exist but they are not that common. That's also the reason I really want laundry in the game, because it's not so realistic to me not to have a washing machine.
I don't think laundry fits either unless they make a venue, laundromat. I really don't much like the idea of laundry in any of these suggestions that we got. I know a lot of ppl are hyped to get it but to me it was more annoying than anything. Having a pack focusing on laundry and be named something else doesn't seem right. I think laundry should have its own pack.
Anyway, a starter pack could also be IKEA type furniture, although I am more into funky.

It worked, it made a lot of noise, but it worked.
But I don't think laundry really fits with starter homes.
I think there needs to be a chores pack... maybe with a 1950's vibe (forthe outfits)
