Over 224 names!
Fun Fact: I love names. I’ve have several lists I’ve been collecting since I was twelve. I also like the Sims, and with the Sims I like having themed legacies, and with those themed legacies, I like to have names to match the theme, thus those name lists come in handy. I thought I’d pass that handiness onto you.
This particular collection of names is a modified list I made for the Sims 2 for the Mermaids (
which are the confirmed Lifestate/Creature) that are coming with the Island Paradise (*squeals with delight*), but they work well for pirates, surfers, beach comber, beach bu ms, people living by the sea, people who like the sea, people who swam in a lake that one time when they were seven, people who like pretty names; anyone, really. They just happen to be all water/ocean related because, obviously, Mermaids would have human names that are sea related. Amiright people?
I am. There is no doubt.NoteThese names are all aquatic themed, that is, no Ariels (as Ariel meanings “lion of god”) nor Ursulas (“little she-bear”) or even Madisons (whatever THAT means). I’m debating on whether or not to include blue and green names (sea colors), island names, and sand names but all names are just water or sea related: No rivers, lakes, creeks, etc.

Need Some More Name Ideas?
Unicorn related names for them “maidens” and racehorses!
Spooky names for all those babies you made Mortimer spawn!

Since this is a forum, you may comment or even add names to the lists (after my approval), or ask questions about the names or names in general. If you are contributing names, make sure that you include meanings and origins, especially in a long list; no need for gender.
If I have the wrong meaning or any other inaccuracies, please tell me. I don’t mind.

Including Just Water Names, Actual Mermaid Names That Have Nothing to Do with Water, Just Island Names, Just Sea (Related) Animals, and more!
(Please note: Not all names have all origins listed; for instance, “Marie” is an English, Hebrew, French, AND Swedish spelling, while there may only be English, Hebrew, and French listed because of human error and laziness.)

Neat. Thanks for the info.
Oww that's weird, spooky names works for me :?
Thank you for providing inspiration Op.

MissCee

Leucothea - Leucothia Greek "A sea nymph"
Laraine Latin "Sea gull"
Lage Swedish "From the sea"
Lethe Greek River of oblivion
Acantha Greek "A legendary nymph."
Scylla Greek A sea monster
Lorelei "Siren"
Merdachan "Mermaid"
Sirena "Named for the Sirens"
I really wanted to include Lorelei on the list, but for now, it’s all just sea-related or water meanings, even though she’s an “actual” mermaid. Even my founder for my legacy, which I created intent for MerSims, was named “Lorelei”. (She wasn’t a Singer, though, since I don’t have Showtime.)
However I’ll credit you on the list with Lorelei when I decide to put non-water related names in (which will be under the section “Actual Mermaid Names That Have Nothing to Do with Water”) . I’m not sure when that will be. Hopefully I’ll be able to find or have some Simmers suggest some more water names before that.
Thank you very much for your suggestions! Hopefully I'll have enough names to update by Saturday/Sunday, though I may update before then. The list is really badly formatted.
EDIT: Ah, it seems that Laraine IS Latin for "sea gull" while at the same time a Latin alternative spelling of Loraine ("laurel" ). Pardon me. This is why I always double check name meanings! Some names can have two meanings while having the same origin and pronunciation, and that gets confusing. ><
I'll be adding it to the list then!

If you have a different browser, try copying it into the address bar, though sometimes just refreshing the address repeatedly works for me. If your still having trouble it’s probably the website itself. It’s really buggy. You shouldn’t worry, though, you’re not missing much.
And you’re welcome! ^^ And you are welcomed! It’s not really hard work since it’s a hobby, but you’re welcome anyway. Kaia is a great name! But I’d have to say my favorite so far is “Marjani”. Close second is “Sango” (if only because I used to really like Inuyasha  ).
I’m happy I helped you find a name.
And you're welcome. ^^
Surname: Maid
Forename: Mer
Full name: Mer Maid. (Mermaid)
Mind = blown.
Found these online
Doris: An ocean nymph from Greek myth
Ianthe: Another ocean nymph
Ianthe, however, actually means “violet flower”, and while she was a sea nymph, the name won’t be on the list quite yet. Ianthe will be under "Actual Mermaid Names That Have Nothing to Do with Water" whenever I put that subcategory up.
Thanks for the name! And I'm happy to know you'll use the list! ^^
Names added and formatted so it isn't too weird looking anymore! Yaaaaaaay!
Half of me wants MerSims in CAS but the other half wants them to be uber special, like Aliens and PlantSims. I just hope they’re interesting looking, have lots of variation, and have great game play. And can have babies with Sims so this list is worth it. XD
Second, your quote is SUPER long. Keep in mind you can use the "[ spoiler ]" and " [ /spoiler ] " code to hide long quotes.
Thank you for bringing back this thread though and linking those websites as I'm working on a list of Sim name ideas for my blog!
