I’m still looking for a witches hat without the spider and a Dracula’s cape.
- A singer career tied to the fame system. We have actors, 'YouTubers', why do we not have famous singers? And give them different styles, make some jazz singers, or rock, opera, folk. We should have a career track for our singers to specialize in all the genres we have on the radio in game. If you can select listen to, then singers should have the option to choose that as the genre they will focus on singing.
- Or famous musicians. Why are musicians a rabbit hole career and not active. Same for standup comics. All entertainers should be active.
- Obviously if we have musicians we need a lot more instruments, drums, bass guitars, but also what about orchestral musicians, we need a lot more than just pianos and violins. Trumpets, trombones, tubas, saxophones, clarinets, etc.
- I'd love to have height sliders for all ages. Some people are shorter or taller regardless of age.
- Werewolves, but I'm pretty sure this one is coming off the list soon.
- Fix the romance/attraction system. Stop random flirting by every sim. Make monogamy the default and add a 'player' trait for those sims we want to be outrageous flirts.
- Speaking of traits, more of them and add two more trait slots. Traits should be more like they were in TS3. The custom content creators gave us the extra trait slots and hundreds of traits, so it's doable.
- And while you're at it, make the traits actually affect a sims actions and personality. They feel superficial at best for most, but some are overbearing and completely wreck a game if you use them.
- Aspirations need the same treatment. There aren't enough of them and they feel shallow. Some of them are too easy to complete quickly. If the aspirations get an overhaul why not make some of them lifetime aspirations? I suppose a few of the ones we have now are lifetime aspirations but that's only if you play on the shortest lifespan. Those of us who play long lifespan or like myself, aging off, would love to have aspirations that took more time, effort, and involvement to complete.
- Fix the Dine Out bugs.
- Allow us to make live-in businesses. I would love to make a bakery and have a sim live upstairs. A florist shop would be lovely too.
- Finish the pack refreshes. We've gotten one so far and I'm pretty sure we've had more than one pack over the years.
- Permanent PlantSims with some special gameplay for them. More than just gaining gardening skill faster. Make them eco-warriors, or something.
I haven't had my coffee yet so that's all I can come up with for now.
ETA: Add turn ons and turn offs to the romance/attraction system. Bring back things like favorite meals, favorite colors, favorite music genres from TS3.
This is best divided into expansion pack content and the core base game functionality. For expansion pack content I think we are close. However, the core base game is undesirable to me and severely lacking in features I care about the most in the Sims 1-3
Wow! Seems like a common thread was hotels... interesting!! I also agree with that, especially when paired with the "make all worlds livable: looking at you selvadorada and granite falls!!!"
Also bands. Definitely want that myself.
And better retail/active career/dine out functionality.
Updated occults!!!
And of course, romance pack. How could I forget?!
:-)
My updated list thanks to you all is:
Get Famous refresh w/ bands, and an additional coastal neighborhood
Get to Work refresh w/ updated aliens, at home businesses, all careers active optional (easy right?)
Werewolves GP
Hotels GP w/ update to make all vacation worlds livable except Batuu
Generations EP w/ fully developed additions like babyshowers, sleepovers, proms, and funerals
Romance EP w/ attraction system, online dating, and uneven relationships such as unrequited love and secret crushes
That gives us about two more years worth of content right?
When I read the question, the first thing I thought was "Blow on it, and the whole thing falls over (that's how it's "finished")" but being serious, those all look like good ideas, and most of them just boil down to "Make it have the function and gameplay of its forebears, because newer game editions are supposed to build on and expand what came before, rather than die, and come back as insubstantial ghosts of their former selves."t
This sounds like I'm hating on Sims4, and I had turned my back on it for a while when it wasn't working properly, and refreshed myself with more Sims3 and Sims2, but recently started playing 4 for a change again, and enjoy it, but as a thing to put me to sleep. I literally play it so I can nod off at my keyboard before bed. When I play Sims2 or Sims3 at night, I tend to stay up too late, because they are stimulating. But Sims4 makes a wonderful sedative, and that's worth noting: it's not without charms.
But I couldn't help but notice, in the lists of things people say would complete the game, that people want the gameplay that was there 13 and 17 years ago (respectively, in Sims 3 and before that, Sims2) that still hasn't shown up in Sims 4 nearly 20 years later.
Expansion packs for Sims3 were incredibly rich with content, each one encompassing the same content (or more) than was parceled out and sold onesie twosie, and often with inferior animations and shallower gameplay, in Sims 4.
Consider for example, Ambitions, the second expansion pack for Sims3, which added professions you can accompany your Sim to, such as Architectural Designer, Firefighter, Ghost Hunter, Investigator, and Stylist, plus laundry, plus Create-a-Pattern, plus the ability to get tattoos, the ability to register as self-employed with skill careers such as fishing, gardening, painting, writing, nectar making, photography, inventing and sculpting.
It also added Simbots, the ability to collect scrap and fabricate, and upgrade existing objects (which in Sims4 is from Eco Lifestyles); a real-estate system in which you can invest in existing businesses and buy real estate; new lots including the consignment store, junkyard, hangout, laundromat, and fire station; being able to ride motorcycles; a new way to die (meteor strike), and the ability to blow things up (as an inventor).
How many Sims4 packs, kits, etc would it take to do most of this, but not all?
So it looks like the financial strategy with Sims 4 was to break apart the pizza and sell people the crust first, with no sauce; then charge extra for sauce; charge again if they want cheese; and then again for every topping, and not a pittance, either: the toppings each cost more than the crust. And you won't get your toppings until you've had your plain crust with sauce, for a very long wait. And when your toppings come, some of them are not quite right: the mushrooms were canned instead of fresh, and they used green pickled jarred olives instead of sliced black ones that you were expecting. But sometime later, you can get a patch-in for black olives. Only it makes the pepperoni fall off.
By then, your pizza has been cold and undesirable, and you've covered your napkins with doodles, ordered 3 more rounds of drinks, run out of conversation with your tablemates, and gotten quite sick of the boring breadsticks that only cost $5 per order, but at least arrive promptly.
Then the server shows up and asks if you'd like to finish with a look at the dessert menu, but your order is still incomplete, and the pepperoni is still having some kind of conflict with the black olives.
The sad thing about this allegorical restaurant experience is, you came to that restaurant, fully willing to spend good money for a great time, based on that time you ate there 10 years ago, and it was about the most expensive pizza you'd ever had, but boy, was it the BEST! And now you're left wondering, why couldn't they just take the money, and give you a great pizza: hot, fresh, fully loaded, and just like it was described in the menu, this time?
I apologize for being so flatfooted in my criticisms, but I still have a use for Sims4, and I LOVE Windenberg and its inhabitants. In fact, I'm off now to play Sims4, Windenberg in particular, so I can become comfortably sleepy and get to bed at a reasonable hour.
I'm not sure how much I would like more content, because while I would like to see Maxis attempting to make cars, high schools, underwater worlds, horses, bands and hotels I also don't want them to keep this game going forever.
They could keep the game going for 10 more years and it would never be finished.

I can agree with that for content is nice but features for me is better as I can do more with the content.

Most definitely 2 things for me personally, I don't need more fluff and stuff for it to feel finished. I use CC for that.
But I desperately need ................

At least let me modify the world by letting me change what is in it, so I can have more usable areas with things to do so I don't hit a loading screen! Let move that tree that is blocking my view! Let me get rid of those eyesores that don't fit my world!
