More Musical instruments in future packs?

«1
Hello everyone,

So my question and speculation is really simple: Do you think we'll have more musical instruments in future packs?
As we know some people speculate a lot about a music band and a music pack but if I remember well, the previous games (sims 1, 2, 3) the musical instruments were Piano, Guitar, Drums, Bass, Synthesizer, Violin and the lazer intrument from into the future. So only Drums, Bass and Synthetizers are missing (knowing that The sims 3 didn't have synthesizers). We also had Organ Pipe and Dj Mixing (if we count that one) in the Sims 4.
So do you think we would have more than Drums and bass in the future or will it be these two only (if they even come)? And if so, What kind of instruments do you think we'll get? I hope we can have Saxophones; Harps; Accordéons; Djembés; Kayagum and more...

I admit to being extremely puzzled why they haven't given us more musical options in the game, particularly instruments. It seems like a easy win for Maxis, but maybe I'm wrong about the current social climate and music.

Anyway, I'd love to see the classics instruments of course: drums and electric guitar, but I'd also love to see flutes, saxophones and pretty much anything else woodwind. My Sims are generally quiet, except when it comes to the music! B)

@Kironide oooh yeah wind instruments would be amazing: flutes/Piccolo, Clarinettes, Oboes, Native American flutes or even Chinese flutes

If they make a pack inspired by arabic culture or Indian culture I hope to see some Ney, Duduk, Alghoza flutes.

You've definitely got my vote! I love the sound of wooden flutes and more culture is always good! <3

Thanks so much for posting this subject. It needs to be raised. :)

I hope Maxis hears you! it is necessary. And with the reputation system it could be a very cool thing. It depends on your reputation they could call you to play venues. How I would like to have bands in this game!

I think we will have them and they will add. Bass - Drums - Saxophone and maybe you see some more instrument like the Contrabass and some flute or clarinet? I am sure that they will not miss this opportunity, they will use this letter when they need it.

Exactly a band/music group/musician career would be awsome (it could be different from the entertainment career or be an enhanced version of it in the pack); the clients would call for gigs and then our band or usician perform at a specific place with their instruments (the quality of the instruments and the sims' skill would influence the performance so the reputation). A pack like that should include varuois music genres so we can have specialities (the in game instruments already have some music genres associated with them but they need more for such a career). There are lots of possibilities in this idea: Rock bands, jazz bands, classical orchestra (depending on the culture classic music is not the same though), pop bands (more like a dance group so no instrument involved, out of topic) with Strangerville installed we can have military band marches. All these bands/orchestra would need new musical instruments. But now that I thing about it, a simple game pack won't be enough, it needs to be a whole Expansion Pack for that (or else they have to choose one very specific type of band so less instruments)

I really want all the percussions. Drums, djembes, marimba bands, etc.

I agree we need more musical instruments, as well as upright pianos. I would especially love a lute and a harp. I am really hoping for a music pack.
  • jomilejjomilej Posts: 190 Member
@annaliese39 Totally. I always wanted harps in the game so bad. I never thought about uprights piano though (maybe cause we have the city living keyboard so in my mind it was okay), but you're right we need one (at least one model).

I would really, really like an accordion and drums set.

    I second that accordion!

Transferrable skills would be great too. If you're a great pianist, you'd be at least a passable organist.

I badly want to see more musical instruments and it's sad they haven't given us more already. All we have since is Organs. Of course this would be because EA doesn't want to commission any musicians to create the music, as there have to be numerous songs of varying quality and possibly new animations. And that costs MONEY.
Prepping a list of mods to add after Infants are placed into the game. Because real life isn't 'nice'.

Well most of the time when it comes to instruments they already have the music cause they use well known pieces (that are now copyright free cause they're mostly public domain)...the only time they had to create music is for the Singing skill at the karaoke machine. Of course it costs money but the last time we got a new instrument was vampires so it's been a long time that they didn't spend money on a new instruments.

I don't think this makes sense. It is obvious that they get the money back after the GP sales. It would be more of an investment, not so much an expense.

The Digital Mixer in GF is basically the Synthesizer from TS2, just the modern iteration.

Yeah I thought so too but I wasn't really sure as the musics are kinda different but now thinking about...years have passed and synthetizers evolved so yes I agree

I think a band GP would be something I would like if you could make your own band (not all necessarily in the same household ). I play rotationally so if I would love to put 4 or 5 musicians from different households in a band that did gigs. Of course only the current household being played at the time would be paid. It would also be nice to go to see bands preform, rather than a rabbit hole. They could take from our set up bands for concerts, the musical instruments New instruments I would like to see are drums, saxophones, and trumpets, in that order.

Of course, I’m still wanting an EP with farm animals, a romance/wedding pack, and hotels and casino’s too.

I would love more musical instruments and interactions around them. We need drums, electric guitar, and I think a horn instrument like the saxophone would really mix things up. Bands should also return with the ability to play at least 4 genres. They can rehearse, jam, and perform songs in gigs. Also, I think the relationship of the Sims in the band should affect how their performances go. For those who want to do stories of band drama, for example.

I don't know much about music instrument. The only music instrument which I have learnt is piano (Grade 7 only).
However, I want to see harps, flutes, shamisen or yamatogoto in Sims 4!

Other than a Sax, which would be cool, I don't fancy many more instruments unless musicians can form a band and instruments joining in on the same songs. I'd accept 5-6 songs to play together, it's okay if they skip adding this possibility for all existing music pieces.

*Imagining Vlad playing his pipe organ while daughter Bonehilda (not the maid version) accompanies him on her Sax* ugh... maybe not...

That option would be very limited if they use the sinstrument as a whole (cause they need to re-code them then). I think sets would work better: a set with a piano, microphone, sax for exemple that does count as one item or a set with a guitar and drums. "Join in" seems limiting the potential (like how duet on the karaoke machine are very limited compared to solo songs).
I still want more musical insstrument though as Get Famous is my favourite EP (with City living) and I love making famous Sims: artists, musicians, actors and more so more instruments give more possibilities :)

I agree with all these suggestions for more instruments and bands playing together, but the one thing I want above all, which we didn't have in the Sims 3, is the an option for sims to sing with bands. You could have a jazz band with a jazz singer, a rock band with a lead singer, a classical trio (piano, violin and bass or cello) with an opera singer, etc. There could be instrumental bands as well, but bands with singers would be important. After all, we already have singers with accompaniment on a piano or guitar, able to sing a couple of different genres with a few songs each. These songs could just be expanded.

Agreed. It would also be fun if a singer had to audition with the band to get the job, and perhaps s/he would get sacked if not doing so well. Bands could get NPC singers, and singers should be able to join NPC bands.

In TS2 sims could in fact sing with a band. I just checked an old video of mine, and as the second performance in a charity show is a punk band with singer (P.U.K.E.) LOL. I had forgotten all about this show (made in 2008) and I'm surprised how laggy my game must have been. I also tend to remember my TS2 sims as a lot more beatiful than they actually were, LOL.

I don't think she's singing with the band. That is the "Freestyle" interaction, which is basically rapping for tips. The band is playing together in synch though.

Hm, you might be right @EmmaVane . It's been 13 years, I left TS2 tricks long ago :)
