The fact that they "announced" the pack by prefacing that it wont have cars or bunk beds or babies makes it sound to me like its something they know people will complain about. I'm guessing it'll be something that some players will deem unnecessary and pointless when they should be making --- so they had to cover their tracks in advance.

    Or farming🙁

I haven’t been really happy with a pack ( except nifty knitting which I liked) since before University, I hope they are going for something many people have been asking for like romance, wedding, honey moon spots, amusement parks casino’s and hotels, or some such thing.....

I'm not sure if it needs to please everyone. After all, everyone's gaming style is different and obviously what we want is different. TBH, I don't understand when one says, "we don't want this" or "we want that". :|

I'm pretty sure whenever we're getting a new pack, everyone is divided into at least 3 groups. We're either, love it, hate it, or somewhere in the middle.

I’m hoping for a crowd pleaser!

I didn’t want eco lifestyle but it’s got so much sandbox play to it that I’m loving it!

So I hope it’s something like that. Nifty Knitting and eco lifestyle have been my favs this year. If this EP gives us something our sims can do (like keep their electricity bills down or make candles and clothing) I’ll be all for it. But if it’s like Star Wars (I’m playing it and it’s boring as heck) or Strangerville I’ll be upset! 😡😡😡

Well, if a pack comes out, and nobody wants it, then that can't be good for sales or their reputation.

Babies, cars, farming, hotels, casinos, winter resort, romance, family play, warewolves, fairies- these are the things I see people asking for the most.

If they come up with something that no one wants again (like Star Wars), then the outcry from the community will be unbelievable, potentially causing a PR nightmare for EA...

I don’t really care for the winter pack tbh would choose the back to school or even the reality shows pack over it. I do want to run a hotel though but don’t want it to be just winter environment

I’d be curious about a winter theme pack. There’s not really any lots that contain elevation changes, so it’d be interesting to see how they’d deploy something like skiing. Hopefully not just a rabbit hole 😑

I don't believe they've put much use to the terrain tools that were released about the same time Get Famous came out. Could be a first. B)

Fixed it for you. Unless you're saying that those of us who do enjoy the Star Wars Pack don't count in the community.

The thing is, there'll be someone who will buy the packs whether it's what they want or not. For example, most of the pack that have been released are not something that I want or even need in my game, but, I'll try to find something from the pack to understand what makes others want it. So, at least, they'll be getting a sale from me. I'm pretty sure they're more people like me. I like this game, so, I'll buy it at full price if I like the concept & of course the gameplay that comes with it (for example, like the Star Wars. I bought it at full price) and other packs that I bought it at a discounted rate because I don't need it in my game upon the released).

All that you've listed could probably something what people want, but it's not what I want. It's nice to have, I might need it, but it's not something that I will buy at a full price.

Just to reiterate, everyone has a different style, and we can't aspect what you want is what I want.

Like I said before, there are several key things that the majority of the Sims' community wants, babies, cars etc. Repeatedly ignoring these requests is a bad idea in the long run. The things that I listed are not just things that I want, they are things that the community has asked for about for years.
I am happy that some people did enjoy the Star Wars pack, but the majority did not. This is evidenced on the forums, Reddit, Youtube, Facebook, and Twitter. It was and still is an unpopular pack. Yes, some might like it, and that's fine, but the majority of the fanbase did not want this pack.
So, this pack they basically caters to a small niche within the Sims community, and not to the whole. If they keep catering to niche audiences, then their brand will suffer.
If they want to attract a larger audience, they need to give content for what the MAJORITY of the community wants, not a small section of it.

    Doubt it.

I have no expectations of EA and I somehow still get disappointed.

:| Two duds in a row would be crazy. I also just dont understand why they would intentionally make packs they know fans will be disappointed with. I thought most people wanted to be rewarded for their work, not boo'ed. But it seems the sims devs either dont care or have their heads up in the clouds.

They don't build packs where they think most fans will be disappointed. It's more like shock when they find out most were not interested. Their focus groups tell them that's what would be fun, gurus convince themselves because they like something most players would like it. It just shows how out of touch they are with even the core fanbase of TS4 let alone the core base of the franchise. I don't know who they listen to about this stuff but it's usually not people on forums by the look of the backlash on this forum so often.

People, somewhere, keep buying this stuff making what Drake say the truth. They don't worry about the base they know they will buy anyway, no matter what. That's what she said, and she was right. I'm rather happy TS4 helped me break a Sim addiction. If people can keep buying packs where they only get use out of a few things in CAS or BB then why turn up the nose at the TS3 store? It would be the same difference. Paying a price for one item or a bunch of stuff you have no intention of using just to get the one thing....none of this current marketing of TS4 makes sense to me.

I personally feel that if they marketed Eco Lifestyle differently (focused MUCH LESS on the eco features and MUCH MORE on the community features and how your sims lifestyle impacts their community, also released it in a non buggy state) then the pack would’ve been less of a “dud” and much more successful. That being said I really hope the next pack meets or surpasses the communities standards, fingers crossed the new expansion pack adds features that quench the communities’ appetite.

I know what it is!! I refuse to believe the cook off the gurus are having are for nothing. It has to do with a chief, a cook off, or reality tv or something in that category. I just don't know how they're going to present it.
I called it. Will people be happy with it? No. I'm neutral but if it turns out to be any of these things I believe many people will be outraged. They want babies, cars, etc
Some say it's a winter pack but we had no hints of winter

Nifty Knitting had a bunch of hints to new snow activities.

Maybe they‘ll finally add deep snow, after hearing player requests

I hope its something entertaining. This whole year for me was a dud in general. Eco Lifestyle is okay since I like the trashy BB, but its so buggy and I had to find a mod just to stop sharing is caring. Everything else from this year was from "whatever" to "why the heck does this exist?" I havent been overly excited for an EP since Get Famous, and though I dont expect to be blown away, I really really REALLY hope that it makes up for such a lackluster year.

I don't think they're ignoring any request, just that I believe it's getting harder to please this community.

I don't think that those who are hating on the SW pack should be considered majority just because they're voicing out their hate, because, I for one, still like it no matter what. We're still part of this community, whether one like it or not. Can you please provide me with the statistic of the niche players that playing with the SW?

What does the majority want? Do you have any stats for all the items listed at least on a percentage out of the whole community? This claim can't be verified if one can't provide the figures because since we're talking about the majority, I want to be convinced that at least 51% of this community would like to have what the said claimed is based on what the majority wants.

Again, to reiterate, everyone has a unique gameplay style. Babies & cars? Mind if I ask you, who ask for it? Are they the one who play, the gameplay or one who builds and playing with CAS? Yes, I like cars IF ONLY it comes with a good gameplay, I don't even mind if it's not the best gameplay.

Baby, how many of us who actually enjoying playing toddlers/babies? From what I see or read, people prefer to play with YA and skipped all the other life stage. How about you? Do you play with babies? Do you get your Sims interact with the current babies? I do, and they're doing what I can see the babies are doing IRL. They cry, they poop and they want to be fed.

At this point I don't even care anymore. Sims 4 in its current state is too broken for me to risk updating and potentially ruining my saves, and you can't buy new packs from Origin unless you update your game. So yeah, ask me again after at least 3/4 of the bugs have been fixed - if it ever happens. Until then, I'll be playing Sims 3, where I at least know that there won't be new bugs added every month. I do miss my sims, so I am currently in the process of recreating them and their houses in Sims 3.

Based on what they've said it's not going to be, I think it won't be something most players will be excited about although I'm easily satisfied.

Honestly, I think it's going to be a good and "popular" pack. They KNOW our opinions about the most recent packs, so I just can't see them not taking this opportunity to redeem themselves and keep the Sims 4 fire alive. Plus the november/december EPs are usually crowd pleasers.

Sure it's not going to be what we want the most, as they stated themselves, but it doesn't mean it won't be good. Since it's not going to be generations or farming, I'm expecting either a Showtime kind of pack, a romance pack or winter vacation + running hotels.

But what are they doing in the meantime? They felt they needed to be politically correct and do some skins that already most are saying are not an improvement and it's TS4 players (not those of us who have stopped playing) saying those improved skins are horrible. Go figure. But negative Nancys who aren't playing will get the blame for the negativity. As seen in this thread. It's the TS4 player who is still buying who is saying the new skintones/same ones, are not improved. They also just did a release celebrating a partiuclar class/group of people, again feeling they need to be politically correct with all the content they keep producing for this game. How many are thrilled with all that? Not many is my guess. I read same CAS assets just a different texture/recolor. Catering to niches of groups all for the sake of diveristy isn't cutting edge technology or gameplay. Based on what they just did, again, to gain some new player somewhere, I doubt the next EP is any better than another politcally correct ploy. Expanded view, it seems to me they work with all these groups and organizations to help make the game more politcally correct while they ignore what people say, gameplay, stuff that belongs in The Sims, and better personality traits and meanings and consequences for those, but they keep going down a rabbit hole. How many will use the clothes in the new update, compared to an improved baby, and or farming tractors and farm animals. Just sayin'.

I disagree and just don't see the connection between what you said and what I said. Yes, they're definitely worried about being politically correct, certainly cause that's a good marketing strategy nowadays and also because the community is asking for it (like all the requests for more skin tones and also the gender options). But I don't think this plays any role on the packs. If it did, we would have already gotten an african-inspired world, a proper asiatic world and etc. Instead we get loads of European and American worlds and even Star Wars stuff.

Being "politically correct" is the right thing to do, and adding more inclusivity in the game is always a good thing. However, they have been doing it for free (which obviously, is how it should be), and not on the packs, so I don't think the next pack quality will be related to how politically correct it is. And also, how can someone complain about FREE inclusivity? Just cause you're not pleased with hispanic content, it doesn't mean the hispanic simmers aren't or just any other simmer who likes to represent different cultures in their game. I mean, it's free.

It's not like they decided to add hispanic content instead of improved babies. They have the team and the budget to do both. Go figure why they're not.

I don't understand why you think the Sims team is oblivious to the what community wants, as there is plenty of evidence on the forums as well as on social media about what they want.
It is quite obvious that Star Wars was not a popular idea for a pack, and that they catered to a very small audience. The outcry and anger caused by that pack is proof enough.
And if the Sims team messes up the next pack and does something that most people don't want, I think many people will leave the series altogether. If the next pack is something totally out of left-field, I will probably uninstall the game completely.
The Sims team may want to be "creative," but when core features and long desired things are still missing after 6 years, then they need to take care of those thing first.

Very difficult to please or are we just sick of the Sims team ignoring us for 6 years giving us empty packs with no replability or even worse packs no one asked for when we don't even have the promise of ever getting the basics. We hear you for 6 years and never getting what they hear is it truly surprising we're not pleased.
Sims 4 went from "You Rule" to "One of the stories we want you to tell"
