With this iteration's obsession with being current, they should put in Twerking, flossing and all those Fortnite dances. Appeal to them Tik Tok kids.
I can see them taking notes of this which saddens me.
I remember Sims 3 University Life had a Gangnam Style-esque dance right when it started losing popularity and it felt... forced...
Instead of the Highland dancing, how about a Cèilidh? Or a Cèili (as the Irish call it). It's partnered step dancing, but done as a group. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=livvgMe5I2k
And then there's the English version, known as Old English Country Dances. (if you've ever seen an adaptation of any Jane Austen, it's the dances you'll see.) They're slower, and more stately than the previous styles. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dBgaO9Va5cA
Old English Country Dances have been danced for a very long time, they're often called The Playford Country Dances due to a dance book from the mid 1600's, but are believed to have been danced for at least 100 years prior. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9jE2asniQKE
Square dance is a modern adaptation of Old English Country Dances.
They use the same sets of steps, but you don't need to learn the individual dances.
And on the topic of adaptations... American Tribal Style. It's an adaptation of middle eastern, north African, and Indian belly dance. Like square dance, it uses sets of steps, rather than requiring dancers learn an entire dance. It too is a dance for groups of dancers. Though typically danced by women, there are men who also dance. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wMDytfkQJx8
And I guess I could throw in a Northern Aussie type dance... I don't mean the first part.
Meet Djuki Mala, previously known as the Chooky Dancers...
Watch it the whole way through, because it totally changes pace part way through. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hXLw36sN5no
Apparently Baker Boy was an original member of the group.
Slow dancing should definitely be the first to come before anything else. That’s the one thing I miss about having my sim be in a relationship. Honestly there’s not much you can really do with your partner in game besides woohoo all over the place or dance away from one another lol.
Sims don't even sleep "with" each other anymore... no snuggling... just side-by-side. Where did the love go? xD
I do think there should be more. Specifically slow dancing needs to be in the game and should've been in the game already. I hope for a return of ballet
I would love any kind of dance in this game. I spent 10 years doing everything from swing to hip hop, tap, waltz, salsa, jazz and ballet. It's so much FUN! My sims should be so fortunate.
I'd find it fun to see just more different dance moves according to a Sims's personality. For example, Clumsy Sims doing some really goofy dancing and falling over, Art Lover and Creative Sims being able to do their own interpretive dance, Music Lovers rocking out and head banging. And parents being able to do cheesy disco moves that embarass their children. 😆

but also id love some slower styles for one sim dances because it looks stupid when they start dancing like crazy to slow music
graceful performance dances
ancient styles/traditional styles and such would be cool

Well, since you asked...
Lets start with dance for couples.
Swing. It's made a huge comeback in the last couple of decades.

Tango.

Bollywood? I admit to having seen this movie.

Not that I'm adverse to Bhangra. It's apparently a warrior dance type, martial arts as a dance?
Which leads to...
Georgian folk dance.
Which can also be a combat dance.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8OsAsJejxJY
Or a folk ballet.

*Sigh*. I’m getting old.
This was in The Sims 1! Why not?
I would like my Sims to couples dance. Slow dance, tango, swing dance, whatever, but please, dance with each other — not just next to each other.
Sims don't even sleep "with" each other anymore... no snuggling... just side-by-side. Where did the love go? xD

Indeed.
Indeed.
Like ‘dancing with’ and ‘sleeping with’ this is possibly too much Raaaawwwrrr for 2020.
Please no. It gives me indigestion.
