Script error (to do with facebook) on Sims 3 launcher.

«1
Every time I start the Sims 3 launcher, I get:

An error has occurred in the script on this page.
Script error.
https://connect.facebook.net/en_US/fbevents.js

I used to have facebook, but have closed my account a few years back. This computer was bought since then so I've never told Origin or Sims 3 to connect to Facebook on this machine, but it looks like it's trying to, maybe it remembers it from my account? Any way I can switch this off?

This is an error on EA's end, not on the player side. It's come and gone over the years, but I've seen many reports of it just lately. Is it not possible to click through or accept the error and play anyway?

Yes, I can click no to something like "continue running scripts on this page". I just thought it was trying to connect to my now closed facebook account and thought it would be best to stop it doing so.

I get that error message too, I assumed it was because the launcher is so old that the coding it uses was not updated. I am not sure linking to old pages that does not seem to be supported by EA anymore is a good idea. Is the sims3 store still supported for that game?

No idea, I never used the store. I just bought Sims 3, then bought Seasons pack, both through Origin.

Same here. Started about 3 days ago. Doesn't seem to matter which answer I choose regarding the error message, both do the trick.

And here too. I'm inclined to blame facebook. They're pretty clueless. Although I don't even use facebook! Why is Sims contacting them?

    Ikr...
If I'm correct, since I'm on a family computer, one of the browsers' homepages might be Facebook... I'll try eeeing if we can change that and see if it solves it on my end anyway.

The computer I play the Sims on has never logged into facebook. My facebook account was closed (by myself as I was bored of it) about 2 years ago. This computer was set up only 2 months ago.

I guess it's not the end of the world.... it's not like it does it in the middle of the game, now that would be annoying!

I'm glad to see this isn't just a problem with my game.

I've been getting this on my launcher. From doing some investigating it seems to be some kind of Face Book tracker. I have never, ever had a FB account. The onlysocial media I engage in is Twitter. Anyone have any idea how to deal with this?

This is a javascript error, again the issue being on the EA side. It does not matter if the player has one, several, or never had any Facebook accounts. Most players should be able to click Yes, No, or probably most reliably the "X" widget in the upper right corner to close the dialog box and play anyway. If it seems to be producing a more lasting problem, then perhaps try playing not logged in and while the computer is completely offline?

@igazor Thanks for the reply. I don't think it's causing problems but I was very curious. I never log in to play TS3. I'm not patched up to the last patch and I'm not going to do that. I'm at 167.2

It seems this is a common problem. I'm relieved it has nothing to do with my computer because I also never had a Facebook account. It only started in the last few weeks and I can still play my game. It's just irritating see something like this pop up, though.

I agree. It's the irritation factor.

You will all miss the error when EA fixes it on their end and it's gone. Sort of like when a long-running case of the hiccups suddenly stops. :)

Glad to find out that I'm not the only one. It made me go, "Oh no!" the first time but since it allowed me to still play i'ts now an irritation. I look forward to it going away.

I've been getting this too since Friday, but in my case it's usually when I install items from the Store, however my laptop updated recently (I don't play The Sims 3 on days my laptop updates and the day after that). But I can still play the game
