This is crazy-insane. I did a repair game, hoping to end the crashing of my game that has been plaguing me. This after removing three mods that were new to me, thinking those might be the issue. I learn they weren't the cause. The game crashes upon trying to save, but not always. I let the repair run until it goes through all of my packs. I was surprised to see the number 30, I will admit, but I let it finish. I didn't play the game immediately, but once I did, it suddenly was verifying my game files yet again. It reaches 29 and finalizes. But, since I didn't expect this additional verification, my Mods folder was still in. My Sims looked a tad weird. Some of them were splashed with bright red and white, but it looked more deliberate than a random mashing of colors due to a video card failure. I decided my saves must be corrupted. I replaced the saves folder for an empty one and changed out the Mods folder for an empty one and reinstalled all five mods. MCCC and RTF were already cleared by their creators. Meaningful Stories, I saw on the page had been updated, too. Then I went ahead and placed in Improved Relationships, also cleared by the creator. The last one is Private Practice.
With everything fresh and new again, I decided to recreate my families for my game save. Family number one, the two daughters, both children, are the ones with the strange coloring. I took them all back into CAS (full edit mode) to see what could be done to fix this situation. I hadn't selected all categories of clothing for them, and thought perhaps it was a particular category that had gone wonky. Changed one daughter from the winter category to another in that category and she's back to normal. No such luck for her sister, though.
I need to snap a photo of my strangely colored Sims before I pull part of the one mod I think may be causing the problem. So, I fire up my game. Guess what it does? It's back to verifying my game files! What the heck is going on? Do I need to call my priest? If I grab my own vial of Holy Water, will that be enough to exorcise the demon?
This whole fiasco sharply curtailed my game play yesterday afternoon. I'm truly vexed. I all but want my money back at this moment in time.
Thank you for allowing me to vent. And if you have any suggestions I'm open to them.
If so, you’re likely missing a mesh for one or more CC CAS items. You may have downloaded a recolor or retexture without realizing you needed the original mesh.

Very similar. But the only cc item I have is Khitsule's Pointy Ears. No meshes involved.
You might need to contact EA’s help services about the file thing. I had to do that when my game would do that every time I opened origin.
I could probably replace Origin again. I don't like dealing with help services who take so very long to get back and the day is lost and again no play.
The only items I have are official EA items. Like I stated the ONLY cc I have are the pointy ears, no mesh involved. But, I'll pull my Mods folder, since I'm uncertain, now if the mods are unaffected by the 'repair' process and I'll just see what happens. I do need the MCCC mod, however and I flat out refuse to play my game without Road to Fame. I'm going to pull one element out from one mod and see if that helps, first.
ETA: Oh, wait a minute! I just discovered I do have one other piece of CC in my folder. BEO butterfly headband! I just removed it. Will see if that's the culprit.
So...does it do that even if you use all base game or official EA CAS items? What if you take out your mods folder? Does the problem remain even then?
This problem is one others are having. One person stated it's not a mod problem and gave me a link. I clicked on the Me Too and posted a picture of my 'infected' Sim. Hopefully, EA will get on this, as it's distracting and a game-breaker.

It took under an hour when I had to get the issue fixed when it happened to me ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.
Well, I repaired my game, again, this time without the mods folder and still no luck. It cannot be the mods. I've ditched the new game save I barely started as my Sim, depending on which hat I chose would have his face go red and white. Change the hat and his skin goes normal. Gr.
Let me reiterate. I have no mods and no cc in my game! Also, as I was scrolling through my saved households (having deleted the original one from yesterday, and the copy of it, other households are now 'infected' by the mysterious red/white coloring. I really don't wish to dump my saved households, not all of them. This has to be the patch. EA, please, oh please FIX this!
I dont think it's a mod issue, because i had sims that are like that and it passed down to her children, i used default skin, the only way to fix her was using custom skin overlay.
Have you tried reinstalling the game and all the packs? Since this is so similar to a problem in which you're missing the mesh for a cc item, it sounds like one of your game files might be missing or corrupted?
@GalacticGal have you tried resetting your Sims4 folder?
Apparently, I'm not 'allowed' to that entire refreshing by removing the entire folder out. Any time I try anymore, it tells me I have to close the program that's using it. :O But, removing the saves basically puts it back to square one. I have one more 'trick' up my sleeve. Seems there is a copy that has a Scratch folder in it. I probably moved that over into whichever file I found it in. I'm going to seek out and remove that to see what happens.

Yes, I've recently put my game through a repair. It finished listing 30 packs, to which my eyebrow was raised. Then it verified my files again once I decided to try to play and it finished with 29 packs. Then just yesterday, it verified my files again, without my prompting, leaving me with 28 packs. And, the red/white problem remains.
I dont think it's a mod issue, because i had sims that are like that and it passed down to her children, i used default skin, the only way to fix her was using custom skin overlay.
Yikes, I'm just not big on cc skin … But, I'm also not keen on it's being passed down to children. What is up with that?
So if I understand correctly, does this issue occur when you start a new game even if you disable mods and custom content in the game options?
Yes, I totally cleared out my saves file to start anew. What I found is that some of my Sims saved to My Library have the red/white skin glitching. Seems this has been a reported problem. Another person gave me a link and I clicked on Me Too, plus posted a picture.
I hope you can get it fixed. I haven’t been able to play myself for nearly a month due to a family home renovation project and won’t be able to for at least another couple of weeks and I am as tense as a cat in a room full of rocking chairs. This game is the thing that unwinds me, so I understand how frustrated you must feel.

There are many cc skins that are maxis match and not over the top or barbielike. Try luumia ooh smooth skin

I hope the renovation project goes well. That can be a real pain in the tuckus, for certain! Hubby and I were discussing a built of an addition to our very first house (built in 1913), because the two bedroom/one bath just wasn't cutting it once we had the third child. The Pediatrician looked me square in the eyes and told us to sign an agreement that we wouldn't get a divorce over it. Apparently, she'd witnessed a few or her own marriage was nearly wrecked. Take care and Happy Simming!
The more I read your threads, the more it's looking like you might need to do a full uninstall and reinstall of the game.
It's weird that it won't let you move the Sims folder though, as long as you have the game closed. Maybe try and see if you have any stray processes running, whether for Sims or Origin that might be stopping that.
Also a possibility: if Origin is set to launch on startup, maybe if you turn that option off and try to move the TS4 folder right after you boot the computer and before you launch Origin or the game. Then it shouldn't have any issues moving the folder as nothing should be using it.
Thank you @darrenfroggy. This is crazy-insane and playing my game was a good way for me to decompress. Instead, it's serving as an irritant and stressing me out more than I normally am. I don't have Origin set to startup at launch. And I used to be able to pull the Sims 4 game folder out and let it regenerate. I was beginning to wonder if there's a limit to how often this can be done, though? I was able to finish a build I started yesterday without the game crashing, at least. However, even when I get my family created in CAS and they have normal skin tones, I did notice that one of the teens ended up with the red/white skin upon landing in the game. I'd send them to the hospital, but I don't think that would help.
I'm comforted to a small degree that others (a whole 7 of us) are experiencing this strange phenomenon. Perhaps, EA will get it fixed and we'll receive a small patch and voila the problem with be gone.
I also noticed that I can't place a build from My Library, either. Which means my restaurants, my houses, et al are trapped. Every single time I tried to place a lot, the game would crash. Third time around, I decided to just move my family into Hounds-tooth, Hounds-End, Hounds- something or other in Brindleton Bay. The house is very limiting and I'm not happy. I may just build the lot again, that it won't let me place. Ho-hum. More building and not so much playing today.

She no longer had her entire outfit involved, so I changed her in CAS again, hoping to 'cure' the problem. Here is an example of the question mark:
