Starlight Accolades

«1
Does anyone know if a sim other than the actors, or video editors, can win awards at the Starlight Accolades? I have a sim who's written many musical pieces and another who paints masterpieces all the time, but it only ever seems the actor sims win. Is that how it is supposed to work?

I've had writers win for best book. Not sure if I've had anyone else win for anything else, but writer is a definite.

I think in order to get called you must have a starlight accolade reward in your family inventory so they can pull it up when they get their reward reward the easiest one is hosting a fan meet & greet not a celebrity meet & greet. When you become a rising star you can host a fan meet & greet and be able to sign autographs and talk with fans in a location you choose and if you get a gold the reward is a Starlight Accolade.

I have had a 1 star celebrity receive one for a video she had edited. Perhaps I just have to wait. I always just show up at the awards and then find out if my sim wins. I don't think I've even actually received a call saying they should go.

sims can receive the award for any number of things... acting, media production, writing, even 'wearing really, really tight pants that make you look good but we hope you can still breathe'. it's more a matter of how many famous sims are on the lot...the fewer there, the more likely your own sim gets called up

also, @Sid1701D9 that's actually a bit reversed. once your sim is nominated for an accolade, you have to have them click on the microphone and and 'accept award'. that will cause them to do a short speech, hold up the accolade and it'll then be placed in household inventory. the fan meet and greet trophy is a totally different monster. there are six different ones introduced with get famous

here's a screenshot i'm shamelessly stealing from my own post in another thread:
    47c85d35368189494a90d6e00c6940fc.png

the left-most is a drama club award
next to it, with the two palm trees is the starlight accolade
next to that, with the globe in the middle instead of palm trees is the meet and greet reward
the weird one in the center is the 'annoying airhorn accolade' and i'm not sure if anyone's figured out how to get that one yet...
next to that is the flaming toilet award, from the bad reputation unlocked party (in live mode, there really is a fire over the toilet)
the one on the far right is for 'charitable acts' and is the unlock for the good reputation party (it looks like the drama club award, but has different color swatches)

The fan meet and greet does say its a accolade though if you look at it in your family inventory, the horn one is from skills or hobbies I would think and yes you got to click on the microphone to accept the award and do a acceptance speech.

quite a few of the get famous awards are called accolades, as we can see in the spoiler below:
    accolades:

but remember that the aspiration specifically mentions 'award for acting'. technically, the drama club one might work, but since that's only available in high school at the latest...

You're not alone in that. I read on these forums your Sim has to attend the awards. So, I've done that at least twice now. Still nada. The guy makes 10,000 Simoleons per concert, too. He writes music, makes CDs on that machine thingie. Suffice it to say, he's doing really, really well. Made Global Superstar just after he became a YA. Started his career in his teens. Still, no love for Erik. :'(

I'm very excited. Erik Cantrell my Global Superstar just held two separate Fan Meet & Greet Events. Both were Gold Star Awards. Happiness is, that in the next two Sim days, the Accolades will be held. Let's just see if he gets noticed, now. :)

Well, unless it doesn't happen right away, this was an epic fail for me. My Sim hosted a FAN Meet & Greet and got the Gold Award. I double-checked and the trophy is in the family inventory, which is too bad because he won't be living with this family forever. He did earn a second one, but still there is just the one in the inventory. I made sure he went to the Starlight Accolades award night. Nope, nada, not even a hey, how are you? Well, sure, other Sims recognized him and some even threw confetti, but no awards. Ho-hum. What does a Global Superstar have to do? Kind of reminds me of how Bob Hope never once received an Oscar, yet he was wildly famous as a Comedian. Don't know who he is, look him up. He's gone, now, sadly. But he always entertained our troops over in Vietnam, back in the day. Made many Road to … movies with Bing Cosby, and Dorothy Lamour.

Congratulations. Perhaps my Superstar whose latest published work which pulled in over 1000 Simoleons in royalties will get noticed, then.

there's also the chance that the mod somehow conflicts with the way the awards are given out. i know it's been updated to interact with get famous, but you never can tell what one little change in code can lead to

also, as i said before, having an accolade of any kind in household inventory has nothing to do with whether a sim will get nominated for an award or get randomly called up if you have them on the lot during the accolades. it's random, and when on-lot, it seems to be easier if there are fewer other celebrities there too

I thought a nomination was just a piece of text. I didn't know you actually win an award, huh. Interesting.

i just sent two of my sims to tonight's starlight accolades, even though neither of them had been nominated. one of them, rachel stuart, won one for her video-making (this is actually the first accolade or award of any sort either of these sims had won and they'd been stopping by the ceremony every week for several ingame months)

since they're listed from bottom to top, i'll post the screenshots the same way. the end of the accolades at top, the beginning at the bottom, so you can see how many sims won for different things. and, it really does seem to help to have two mics at once, so those who win awards can come up and accept while the host continues to talk

    cb6877076a74c331b8903ad52799b485.png

editing to add the careers and celebrity levels of each sim that won:
brytani cho is the fame 4 comedian townie that came with get famous
rachel stuart is a fame 2 stylist that has maxed the media production skill
venessa jeong is a townie actress that came with get famous (she starts as fame 1, but is fame 5 for me now)
mariana ribeiro is a fame 4 actress
    jean-luc bretodeau is a fame 3 director
cecelia blanck is a fame 5 entertainer (she's basically diana ross in my game)

of them all, venessa and rachel are the only played sims that won, even though venessa was unplayed at the time (so i might have to go and add another accolade to her house now)

I was just going off of what others have posted on the subject. I'll still send him to the Accolades, perhaps his percentages will reap an award? Hey, I can hope, can't I? LOL

I have seen many of those awards given out. I especially enjoy the one about the too tight jeans and can they breathe one. Nice to know your Sim can get an award for being so doggone nice. My Sim has a Pristine Reputation. I'm thinking he's going to have to host many more Charity Events to see what that reaps him. (And let's hope I don't reap any more emotional deaths at the same time.) This in reference to my Sims' first venture into such an event. He lost both his sister and her husband from hysteria. Left Erik in charge of his twin toddler nephews, which I tried to play, but things went from bad to worse. I ended up going back two game saves to restore things. Oi!

Stupid cermoney is broken they keep rewarding the same poeple over and over again.
Edit: My sim started at young adult to adults and still have not got one reward.
Edit2: I decided to cheat by using my instant besties fame perk on all the celeberties that way when I get global superstar they only cheer me and not themselves than I will win the Accolades.
Edit3: Oh, I can't believe how high my rep went up doing it with celeberties even the not so good ones.

Yes, writers and musicians win awards, too. In fact, publishing books and songs (including lyrics) is a great way to increase fame.

Hm, must be few and far between. My Global Superstar has released 13 albums, and has released lyrics, too. So far, he's overlooked. Ho-hum. Maybe in his next iteration, you never know.

My writer just got nominated. Normally I switch my household on a Sunday but I'm going to give her an extra day to see if she wins. I wish we could change the day of the ceremony, or else make Monday the start of the week on the calendar.

So far, the one Sims who notice my sweet celebrity are his fans (Obsessed and Stan) and the Paparazzi. Thing is, it's not unusual for him to pack anywhere from 11-14 Sims at his concerts.

Ok that was a waste of time. I forgot I'd changed the type of lot the del Sol lounge was and had to change it back, and when I got the notification I never checked if it was referring to the one in Oasis Springs. As a result, my sim never found out if she won an award or not. Oh well. I'll switch lots in the early morning.

Bummer. I only have the one lot, it's a remodeled version by another player, but it never occurred to me to have a second venue of that type. The Pantages Theatre in California was always the location for the Oscars — for decades. They have since moved, but I no longer keep up. It was my Sim, I think I might cry.

Upon reflection I doubt the 2 other lounges in my game (which I am not even using at the moment) would have held the events as they don't have the Hottest Spot in Town trait, but at the time I forgot aboutr that. I get the impression I was too late in turning the one in de Sol Valley back to a Lounge (It was previously set as generic to stop sims randomly going there). Oh well, the awards probably didn't fit all that well with my Victorian theme anyway.
