Leslie hoped the monkeys wouldn't come for him. He wasn't sure if he had the strength left in him to run. Expecting to wake up and go on with his day, but instead nearly drowning and ending up on an island really takes its toll on you, y'know.
He leaned back against the tree. He should be building a shelter, but he couldn't move. Plus, Lyra needed him. If Lyra was here, does that mean...no. His wife must be still at home. What would she think? Both he and their child were gone. She'd be heartbroken. Maybe she already had found out. Maybe a couple days or weeks had passed back at home, or maybe just seconds.
Lyra made a frustrated sound, and Leslie realized she was trying to reach the spoon he was keeping away from her as he was zoning out. He gave her another spoonful of the baby food he found in the bag, and then scooped up a bit more. The writing on the bag was smeared, but he still recognized the penmanship. It was his. There was enough food for a couple days, but after that he'd have to find more. If there were monkeys on the island, there must be food that he and the other people could eat too.
He had to survive, and even though he was exhausted from the day, something told him he and Lyra would make it.
Ena: *feels the monkey's grip* Oh.
Niko: I have an idea, but I don't know if everyone would agree with it.
Auburn: Turn into an enormous **** you dragon?
Niko: *nods*
Leslie cradled Lyra in his arms as she started to doze off. He fought to keep his eyes open. He was exposed here, and falling asleep could be the end of him. Leslie gently tossed another piece of wood on the fire, and hoped that the others would come back soon.
