Crashing Upon Exit

Is anybody else experiencing a game crash upon exiting? I always save, first and then hit exit game. But, since the very latest patch, I find my game ends up crashing, as opposed to simply exiting. It does exit and everything seems to be as it should when I get into it again, and it isn't crashing while I play, thankfully, but having the box pop up in Windows that the game has ceased to function instead of the game just shutting down, is a bit disconcerting. Need I worry? Please, and thank you, in advance.

This happens to me periodically but I have no real idea what causes it. I usually do a bit of game housekeeping when it happens: delete the localthumbcache file (it will regenerate) and repair game. At seems to help, albeit possibly temporarily. I find that it happens mostly if I've been in Manage Worlds for a while, making over townies.

Yeah, this has been a thing for me all along. It doesn't happen all the time, but sometimes it will just hang when I try to close the game, and eventually crashes.

Thank you, Both, for your responses. I was wondering if I was alone in this. I almost always delete the localthumbcache.package before playing. I also delete the LastExceptions and the crash notice thing. It's annoying, but as long as it won't hurt my game any, I won't worry about it. I will go ahead and do the repair game, just in case. But, yeah, the patches are great except when they aren't.

I'd notify @SimGuruNick about it. Some patches back, it was pretty widespread problem. It happened to me nearly every time I exited. But, a patch fixed it, not sure which one. SGNick, would probably like to know it's still occurring.

I am sorry that you have been having this issue
Sometimes it can be caused when windows is trying to update when you are playing the game. It may help to go to Windows Update and make sure that your computer is uptodate.

Thanks, rosemow. I run Windows 7, which if I'm not mistaken is no longer, or shortly will no longer be, supported. However, every night when I shut down for the day, it tries to update. I say try, because they either have a boatload of updates, or my machine is refusing the same 11 updates! I've just learned to turn off my monitor and let the machine do its thing. It shuts down after a time. I also just ran the registry cleaner,CCleaner, trying to keep things cleared off and running smoothly.
