Game crashing to desktop (SOLVED)

I've had this happen once in a great while before today, but today has been an all day thing. When I let my game sit and my screensaver comes on, when I come out of the screensaver, my game will crash to desktop. It doesn't give any error message. No "Sims has stopped working". Just completely closes out the game like I hit alt+F4.

I took mods out, did a fresh folder test, new save, repaired my game. It's does it every single time.

And when I did the fresh folder, it wouldn't even load until I copied over my options file and put that in the new folder.

And of the guru's want my Crash report. I'd like to see this fixed. @SimGuruNick

Can you share with me your LastCrash.txt and Config.log? Both can be found in your TS4 folder in Documents. Thanks!

Make sure that your graphics drivers are uptodate

Try turning off origin in-game and see if that helps. To do that, go to Game Library in Origin . Right click on The Sims 4 picture. Click on “Game Properties”. Then untick the box that enables origin in-game.

Try playing the game in windowed mode

Sometimes having a large amount of items in the sims inventories and household inventory can cause issues. Try removing some of the items from the inventories and see if that helps.

Go to windows update on your computer, and make sure that your computer is patched uptodate.

@rosemow I always have had origin in-game off. I just updated my drivers. I always play in windowed fullscreen mode (though I wouldn't even start without being in windowed fullscreen mode). I never keep too many things in my sims inventories. And windows just did an update last night, which I find suspect as to today I'm now having crashing problems.

As for sharing the files, last time I had crashing and I shared files with Nick I used. Box.com, so I just used it again. I already sent them to Nick. If they are incorrect, I'll resend with another method.

It is good that you have sent the files to SimguruNick. He will be able to look and see the cause of the crashing issue.

It's definitely connected to screensaver. Everytime my screensaver goes "off" from being on, or I start adjusting the screensaver settings, it completely closes out my game.

I'm still testing.

I'd suggest just ditching the screensaver. They're no longer needed to protect monitors from damage from an image staying on them a long time. Just let the screen go dark.

What do you mean by letting the screen go dark? That's what my screensaver does. If it doesn't, it stays on the screen. How do I set my monitor up to just go dark instead of the screensaver?

Okay. I figured out what causes the crash, though I don't know why it causes the crashing. @SimGuruNick

Last time I my game crashed (and Nick helped me then) I figured out it was right after the Creators Update and a mixture of the update, RTSS, and Sims wasn't playing nice together.

So I took a chance. I checked the game without screensaver but still with RTSS, no crashing. I checked with no RTSS and with screensaver, no crashing. So it's when both screensaver goes "off" and RTSS is on that I get the crashing. My computer did update (windows) last night, so RTSS might just need to be updated, though I'm not sure when they'll update it.

No worries, I only need RTSS for sims 3, and I haven't been playing it much at all lately, so I can just stop it from loading on startup and go back to my Sims 4.
