Club Ideas?

«1
I’m setting up clubs in my game for everyone to get involved with and I’m wondering if I’ve overlooked some options.

I have several art clubs, from elder down to child age specific. Same with music oriented clubs. I have a club for political and business specific sims. Boy and Girl Scouts for child sims, and a co-ed program for teens called Adventure Scouts. I have a few basketball teams and bowling teams, elder through child. A homework club for teens and children. A few ladies coffee clubs and mens gym clubs.

Any inspiration for clubs would be greatly appreciated. What clubs do you have in your game that you’ve ever enjoyed playing?

I enjoy the club system a lot. I've made quite a few with all my sims:

A male only romantic club that pleases the ladies (basically Ouran). I have 2 of these actually, and I set them up to be rivals against each other.
A female only gardening/fishing/nature enthusiast club
An astronomers only club for exploring space and visiting Sixam
A wealthy club for the ambitious and career-driven
    A gamers club
A creative club for painting and writing
A club for childish adults/teens who refuse to grow up and play all day
A mean/evil sim only club for causing mischief and havoc
A genius only club led by a detective that gathers and researches in libraries
A purely social club with no particular requirements
    A workout club
    A partying club
A club for musicians and singers
A club for "alcoholics" so to say

i've got tons of clubs and always others in the works it seems.

some of them are professional, like clubs for critics or writers or whatnot, and some go more in depth, like the astronauts have two clubs, one for space rangers (just now getting off the ground, finally) and one for interstellar smugglers. some of these also double as 'clubs to make certain lots feel more alive'. like the smugglers hang out at an alien-themed nightclub in my 'faux sixam' district (magnolia promenade, the three other lots in it are alien-themed retail, restaurant and vet owned by my half-alien family and all have 100% alien staff). the criminals club, led by nancy landgraab, hangs out in an upscale lounge with the top room exclusively for their use, decorated with all kinds of criminal career decor and other ill-gotten gains. also have two small, but competing, clubs of politicians that like to debate and argue constantly if they see each other.

there are clubs tangentally associated with careers as well, like my oracle leads one that is full of people with decent programming skills but from various walks of life. this is to simulate her 'anonymous hacker army'. they meet in a hidden hackspace beneath the penthouse nightclub not far from where the oracle lives. while my alien supervillain runs a family club (evil, inc: a family company!) that has free reign of his secret hq beneath his plain looking house, i'm hoping to expand on this and give him minions if we get the superpowers pack that was in a survey ages ago.

vampires have several clubs, too. the noble vampires from the trailers have 'the council of masques', which is a nod to vampire: the masquerade, while the rebellious vampires from the trailers are in 'brute squad', which is a nod to the anarch faction from v:tm and also to the princess bride. the two hang out in the same bar beneath a graveyard (loosely based on the one from sims 3's bridgeport) and enjoy tormenting each other. the leaders of both clubs are also in 'the dark council', a who's who of the most powerful and influential vampires in my game, led by vlad himself. i'll eventually solidify another club run by a vampire that swears she's not a vampire (just divinely gifted and/or cursed) and heads a competing criminal organization to both the dark council and the earlier criminal empire.

various families (like the supervillain) have family-oriented clubs specifically for helping the families keep strong relationships with each other (and to occasionally help members work on specific skills). one of the families is so big it takes two overlapping clubs to keep them going. one member is in both, so she can start both gatherings at once.

a club of dog-owners that meet in pupperstone park, hopefully with their pets and hopefully try to train/run them on the course. wish we had more direct control over this, since i want it to be a sort of showdogs thing.

several trait-based clubs (the alien and vampire clubs technically count as these, too). like a club for bros to hang out and chat and watch sports with each other, one for snobs to drink nectar and badmouth everyone that's not them while also critiquing whatever passes for art in their current location.

skill-based clubs or clubs that are just to make lots feel more alive. i have two competing child-only clubs that are all about playing voidcritters. each one meets up at a different central park for the two base game worlds. three different bowling clubs currently for the one bowling alley i have. one of these is the rockin rollers from the bowling stuff trailer, the other two are gender-specific alien clubs. only set them up this way because i have way too many aliens in my game for just a single 8 member club. karaoke singers, a group of retired sims who hang out together in a bar, kids that constantly visit the imaginatorium (a kid-centric museum with toddler area and all the kid-friendly collections on display, as well as a smattering of things from other collections like frogs and insects), even a club that is entirely made up of ghosts (this one's not easy, since 'ghost' isn't a trait to pick. gotta meet and invite them individually...once they're playable). also considering an 'abductees anonymous' club for sims that get abducted by aliens.

there's more, but i feel you get the idea. not all of these are intended for playing, but they're all there to enhance one aspect or another of the game somehow, including just making certain areas feel more like i think they should.

I have a nightclub that I've built in my game that holds 3 clubs. I have the more icons mod by Zerbu so that enabled me to get a lot more inspiration flowing which is great.

I have a club (slash 'gang') that are pretty much hardknocks/bullies (unlike Max Villareal's club as I don't like my sims breaking everything!) that tend to hog the bar and I've built a makeshift fighting ring for them to use as they mostly spend their time getting into fights, drinking, using the dart board/card table (no harm in a bit of sneaky bets!) - and they bring their dogs now which is a pretty cool feature! Lots of pitties/dobermans/etc about.

One of the other clubs that reside there are fans of comedy, I do a stand-up night with Johnny Zest and another guest entertainer on Tuesdays and Saturdays and this club are always there. Obviously with the club activity to watch live entertainment. Always nicely filling up the tables!

The last club I've built an exclusive hangout for underneath the nightclub and they're hackers/programmers on the side of mischief, so while they occasionally socialise up in the bar, they're usually filling out the empty computer chairs downstairs getting up to no good.

The club feature went from unused to now one of my all-time favourite features pretty quickly. :D

This has been a very informative read. Thanks everyone, for all the details! I love the blurb about the astronauts' club "just getting off the ground", literally, lololol. And I agree with the premise that Clubs meeting at venues can liven them up, even if your Sim isn't in the gathering. Especially that knockabout Club--that could really give a Dive Bar some interest.

I always put all my Sims' extended families into Clubs with them. It may take more than one Club, but that way family gatherings aren't missing any aunties, uncles, or cousins, and they're really easy to start.

I also have one Young Adult lady Sim who has several single elderly ladies in a Club with her, and she takes them out to dinner once a week or so just to get them out of the house for a bit of socialization. She's a Good Sim, bless her fuzzy socks. I've just gotten the idea for her to convince her guy to make one for elder gentlemen. Then they can have the two Clubs meet at the same time to see if anyone hits it off. They'll have to sign a waiver absolving my Sims of any responsibility for woohoo deaths, tho.

Also, another future plan is to make a Campaign Staff Club, meeting at a Coffeehouse, for my Sim who is a Politician as the OP and others mentioned, along with a rival group. I'm hoping he can make his speeches to the staff and tangentially the patrons of the Coffeehouse , thus avoiding those sad, empty seats in front of the podium downtown. At the very least, they will be ripe for the Vote Securing.

    Cinema club.
    The trophy wife's club.
    Boy Scouts.
    Choir club.

That is the only ones I created. The rest is from the game.

    What great ideas, everyone!

I created a municipal building (classified as a museum) for my City Council Club. The city council is made up of sims in the political, secret agent, business, and detective careers. The building has a room for weddings, wedding receptions, balls, charity events, and prom on one floor, and a private meeting room, a mock up court room, and an assembly hall on another floor. It’s been really great for that club, as well as the Future Leaders of Sim Nation club for the teens with political, business,or criminal justice aspirations.

I’m definitely going to add in a few yoga a meditation clubs. Considering a LGBT and ally club too. I really need a club for some ruffians for my dive bars and such. Will add in a cinema club as well, seeing as I have a movie theater placed already. Ditto for a comedy club, for all my sim comedians. Some gamer clubs will definitely be in my future, along with some science themed clubs.

I decided to make a club for grandparents and grandchildren to get together for play dates in the park. I wish we had a fancy usable tea set, but I have an upscale cafe now for a ladies High Tea club. I’m looking into how to incorporate personal into the clubs, like maybe a cat cafe meetup group and a group to meet at the dog park.

This has been an excellent read, thank you for all the ideas!

I always have a club per household, just to help with skill boosts when they get the perks they want. Then I have a club per career, sometimes two (like entertainers and musicians are separate, same with chefs and mixologists). I've set them meeting in fitting lot types, like athletes meet at the gym 'n do gym things, writers meet at the library and read and write, secret agents meet at night clubs and have drinks and talk to people, and so forth.

Then there's also special clubs, like Space Changelings that is for the sims whose parent was abducted by the aliens, resulted into an alien child being raised by a human (or a vampire). They use alien powers in their meetings, figuring out their heritage together. I also have Gamer Geeks (both videogaming skill and being a geek) meeting at an internet cafe, a voidcritter club meeting at the same cafe in the voidcritter arena room, and such.

I should really set up a club for elders, 'n more kid/teenager stuff.

I really wish they'd add dog/cat related things in the activities or requirements, and also more skill-level-based requirements for the really elite groups. Skill level 2 can be almost an accident.

Yes! I have a club called “Animal Lovers” which requires sims to have either the Dog Lover or Cat Lover traits, but I’m not very happy with the club itself because I literally can’t think of anything to put in the club activities besides “Look for Frogs.” I have a few other ideas for clubs but I feel constrained from making them due to the lack of club activities. I know it isn’t really necessary that they have club activities, but it just feels wrong to me. I really want more club activities.

Also as for changing requirements, I wish they’d increase the requirements for the financial statuses (at least for wealthy). 30,000 is considered wealthy, but that’s incredibly easy to get in this game.

I have a city council club too but it's strictly politicians. Set up in a community center building with a podium and audience. The center also has meeting rooms for the student council, the local business owners, PTA, various home owners association's for the different neighborhoods, abduction support group and group therapy clubs.

Outside the community center I have three clubs dedicated to filling up night clubs and dancing. Various career specific clubs, a hacking club, a grannies club that meets to play cards, a city beautification club that cleans and fixes things at parks, a gym club, a swim club, a cheerleading club for teens, two rival bowling clubs, a football team club for teens, fishing club, gardening club, alien club and a cult of the cow plant club (my favorite).

I make a lot of clubs to add specific activities to lots and cause drama with rivals always fighting.
I know I have more but I can't think of the rest right now.

I don't usually use clubs, except to keep family and social groups together. This thread gives some really useful ideas.

i have a question about the scout club

how do you play that club ? what did you set as the club's activities ?
    where do they meet ?
what do the scouts do exactly ? how successful is the club ?

    edit

i am asking because i've made now two scout groups, one for boys & one for girls
i tried to make a meeting at a park with the girls, i had to ban all friendly interactions with everybody just to do something scout related other than the usual talking
after that the only thing they did was catching froggs in the lake, one after another like maniacs, this began to be very boring, so i've sent them to Granite Falls, it would be a perfect ground for scouts only there is a club meeting not possible at all
so they can't meet between the lots where all the dig sites & plants & froggs are & they can't meet at Granite Falls, where all the nature things are
so where should scouts meet then ? & what can they do at all ?

I have several scouting clubs; 3 Boy Scout troops, 3 Girl Scout troops, and one Adventure Scout troop for teens which is co-ed as I feel that, just like in real life, a lot of kids would outgrow the program as they got older. Adventure Scouts is kept to teens who either have the Loves the Outdoors trait or have an aspiration related to the outdoors. I typically have one adult in the group, a parent of the Scout leader usually, as scouting is pretty much always supervised by someone.

Anyway, I heavily edited the park in Oasis Springs to serve as the base for all my scouting clubs. There is a camp site, a recreation room, a grill and picnic table area, horse shoes, a fishing pond, a swimable lake (a pool with green water and lots and lots of rocks and vegetation around it) monkey bars, and a few bathrooms with shower stalls. I have the club activities set to swimming, looking for frogs, fishing, playing on playground equipment, and socializing with fellow scouts. Sometimes the club stays overnight and camps, telling stories around the fire and roasting marshmallows. You just have to get kind of creative with it, I think.

I tend to create clubs that build a certain skill and have sims join them to build that skill. They end up with quicker promotions and more friends.

I built a Soup kitchen using the club system. My sims would get a bunch of sims good at cooking join the club then make a soup kitchen as there base. They go there every Sundays to cook food and hungry sims come in eat, talk and hang out.

Cheekybits - That is a wonderful idea!!!! How do you set up another location for the club? And is it random townies that show up?
  • CheekybitsCheekybits Posts: 1,030 Member
@jennlynh So Id make a shelter add some tvs, chess tables, beds a little outdoor space and a giant kitchen with tables and such and make the lot a park lot. Random npc's would come by sleep eat and hang out and Id set the club rules to people can cook and be nice to people. All the townies would come by and feel good and fill there tummy's. You can set your hangout lot by the invitation bar.

I'm using the clubs to create social cliques. Just an example of the stuff I have...
The Desperate Housewives. (Who ofc all the snooty walk, & dress in fancy dresses & high heals.) & They go out for coffee's & visit yoga studios for massages.
The drunk dad's. Who have a bowling league, and play bar games, and drink bar drinks, etc. To relax & get away from their snooty housewives lol.
Then there's more basic groups, like the hipsters, and emos, goths, jocks, preppy girls, etc.
A few of my clubs are gender specific, and all the sims in each club are dressed in similar fashion choices or have similar interests.

I originally started building them up for my teen sim, (was playing a more "urban" household in san myshuno) & everyone she was meeting through RNG at school was like nice looking white kids. & Ofc I wanted her to have friends that actually looked like her, and seemed like people she would want to talk to instead of having hugo & luna villerial always trying to come over.

I'm probably missing out, but I don't use it. The only thing I do with it at all is make a gardening club to come to my sims house to do his gardening for free. :p<3B) This is totally selfish and I love it. >:) I'm usually doing too many other things in my games to worry with clubs.

However, reading your posts have made me feel that if I had a single sim that was in a simple game that I might try some of the things you have suggested. :)

    - Club for visiting museums for art lovers.
    - Club for gardening and prepping food for vegetarians.
    - Club for fishing and BBQ for very manly men. :P
    - Club for elderly ladies to go swimming.
    - Club for kids to play inside.
    - Club for kids to play outside.
    - Club for geeks to play video games.
    - Club for baking for stay-at-home moms.

Those are some of the ones I've had. :)

I've used clubs mainly to keep families together. In one save I was playing a pair of siblings, and when they both got married and settled down, I created a Sibling Revelry club for the siblings (and their spouses) to go out on the town (bowling, pub games, restaurant dining, etc.) and for their kids I did Cousins and Such. I've also done a Chess Club -- they meet at my Art and Science Museum (set as Art Center) and play chess (naturally). I'm also thinking of doing four kids clubs that all meet on the same lot, each one focusing on the four children's aspirations, so a Whiz Kids club that would do things like chess and the science center, a social club that would talk to each other and use the puppet theater, an creativity club with activity tables, toy box, etc. then an Activity club that plays on the play equipment and with the video game platforms. Haven't decided how to set up the relationships -- maybe the Whiz Kids are nice to the creatives and mean to the other two or whatever.

Just drop by, leaving a list of some clubs I created in the past:

-a gaming club with the main activities being playing video games and watching tv/movies
-a wellness club. It's very self explanatory
-a bro club, only sims with the bro trait can join (I actually like that trait and don't understand all the hate), they were usually doing anything which has to do with sports.
-a family club with members of one family who would usually go out to eat something or go bowling
-a party club (self explanatory again)

Some teen club ideas I already tried out:
-a cheerleading club - some teen girls meeting at the sports ground to dance
-an emo club - teens dressed all in black, playing musical instruments and writing depressing poems
-a basketball club - teens who would play basketball and play video games
-a "popular kids" club - actually just the paragons, but with my own sims. They would mostly just try out new outfits, dance or singing karaoke. They are enemies with the basketball club, much fun!

I still plan to make a karaoke club, but I didn't do it yet.

It's especially fun when you have this mod which adds more club icons: https://zerbu.tumblr.com/post/160488483060/the-sims-get-together-mod-more-club-icons
Sadly, it won't add anything new to the club doors, otherwise it would be perfect.
