What causes corruption in The Sims 4?

Hi!

I've recently noticed a weird graphic glitch around the Salty Paws Saloon in Whiskerman's Wharf. The fences there often don't have any texture and appear in plain black or white instead.


How the fences look in my game (left) and how they are supposed to look (right). It needs to be added that this glitch only occasionally occurs in this specific area.

I've already posted this issue on the EA Answer HQ, but it couldn't be reproduced by others, neither on Mac, nor on PC. I deleted old cache files, removed CC and Mods, repaired the game several times and even moved my whole Sims 4 folder away to start a completely new, clean game. Since nothing has helped, somebody assumed corruption with those specific textures.

I'm a little bit worried now. Does anybody know what causes corruption in The Sims 4 and what I can do about it?

My specs are fine and shouldn't have anything to do with it, but here they are:
Model: MacBook Pro (Retina, 15', Mid 2014)
Operating System: OS X Yosemite 10.10.5
CPU: 2,5 GHz Intel Core i7
Memory: 16 GB RAM 1600 MHz DDR3
Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M 2048 MB

Hello
Although I wouldn’ t usually suggest it, you may want to uninstall and reinstall the Sims 4 Game , and see if that helps your issues.
If you do, make a back up copy of the Sims 4 folder before doing it, and place it on an external drive.
I am not sure though if this will help your situation as you are finding that sometimes it is displayed correctly and other times not . I don’t usually want to suggest uninstalling /reinstalling.

Edit : With you playing on a Mac , it may be best to post in the Mac Section of the forums.

@rosemow Thank you. Since you don't usually suggest it, is this an risky thing to do? Do you also think it could be corruption?

Uninstalling and reinstalling the Sims 4 game isn’t risky, It is just that it sometimes takes simmers a long time to download /install the game because of their internet speed. Also some simmers are on a limited data download allowance each month, and the Sims 4 game and packs is a large download .
I don’t know if it is corruption or not . I am wondering if it is perhaps connected with your graphics card? I don’t play on a Mac so I am not sure.

@rosemow You're always so quick to help, thanks a lot! I'm going to reinstall my game once my internet connection is more stable again. My graphics card isn't bad, I'm even able to play the game on ultra settings, but yes, that still might be where the issue comes from. It's just weird only this specific area seems to be affected, though.

Maybe you could try installing the latest update for your graphics card just in case it's out of date? I often do that when I have graphics issues, just in case I've somehow had out-of-date software installed.

@NellyStardust Thank you. It should be up to date, but maybe I need to upgrade to a newer operating system.

So I reinstalled both Origin and Sims 4. The glitch still occurs now and then. Guess I'll have to live with it. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ At least it doesn't seem to be corruption.
