I don't really like EA worlds because in my experience they tend to be glitchy and laggy. My favorite world is Eltham's Drift. It's a very small world but it loads super fast and there is no lag. I use it together with Nraas traveler, so my sims can visit other worlds too if they want to go the casino or enjoy a tropical beach. My current city world is Arkham city, another small but gorgeous world.

I absolutely adore Riverview and Sunset Valley. <3 Maybe it's nostalgia, or maybe it's just the simplicity. I also have fun editing them with stuff from the expansions.

I only have a few custom worlds. I downloaded them to add more places for my Sims to vacation using Traveler. But one custom world I really enjoy actually having a family in is aaronrogers8i3's Strangetown (Sims Catalog or tumblr).

Like I said, maybe I have a nostalgia thing. I'd love to find more good recreations / remakes / etc.

From EA worlds, I love Bridgeport and Roaring Heights. City worlds have always been my favourite! From CC worlds, I loved Parisian Life by SimCookie! :)

For anyone who is a fan of Sunlit Tides will love this world, it's a remade version that has tons of new things to it, awesome features and lots! Check out the video and follow the links to download this amazing world!

@Mallymaks I have that world already (it's huge and I LOVE it) and I ADORED your review. I think my biggest issue was that there are quite a few lots that seem to be purely decorative or for pose purposes. An example would be the skate park lot. There's no skateboarding that I know of, and there isn't much to do on the lot otherwise, so...?

That was a fantastic review, though!

Yeah I know what you mean, I found that as well, I need to add some little things to lots like that so it will make it more complete and such, especially to the apartment looking buildings that are com lots, I want to make into an apartment or something that my sim can live in.
Thank you for the positive comments! Means a lot!

Picaroon Island by @Rflong7 is a world I play a lot. It's small and really pretty.

I can't do Lucky Palms because it's so DRY and DUSTY and it feels kinda empty to me. But that's definitely just my perspective!!!

I played in Lucky Palms for 3 generations and I absolutely love it, but I get what you mean. But I agree with Karritz, the scenery will grow on you. I have always lived in a place with lots and lots of greenery so any place that isn't super green instantly isn't as pretty to me, so LP took some getting used to but it is definitely one of the prettiest worlds I've ever played in.

Thank you everybody for some great tips! Ziwa Bonde especially looks absolutely amazing! Although perhaps a bit tricky to install.

Too bad some of the mentioned worlds have ended up on bad downloading pages, where you only get a lot of spam instead of a nice download.

I'd like to contribute with one of my favourites: Bleake Islands. http://modthesims.info/d/538514

It's a really bleak world, wonderfully designed - the only thing is that the spawners are a bit too generous for my taste.

I will have to learn how to handle CC and mods, that's for sure... Will perhaps be easier when I finally get around to setting up a gaming PC, instead of only having my trusted old Mac. As most helpful programs are PC only.

My search has brought me to this site:

    http://galadrielh.wixsite.com/kreative-ecke/welten

where you can enjoy the wonderful works of Galadrielh. She's also somewhat pedagogic, so I get less scared of trying CC, which is needed for most of Nilxis' worlds (i e Ziwa Bonde) also.

My jaw is dropped, when I look at the way these artists uses and bends the Sims 3 raw materials!

I haven't really played in all the worlds but my favorites are Midnight Hollow, Dragon Valley, Lunar Lakes, Twinbrook, Riverview (if for no other reason than nostalgia) and Oasis Landing. I would also love Isla Paradiso if it was playable..but alas, it's not. I've tried everything with that world.

I love the gothic/dark feel of Midnight Hollow, the fantasy-ness of Dragon Valley, the alien-ness and being on the moon of Lunar Lakes, and the atmosphere of Twinbrook. I love the disaster of Dystopia and the future-ness of Oasis Landing in general. I know that's a lot of favorites but it's too hard to choose just one! :D

I was very late to the Sims 3 party and only bought the game at the time of ITF, though I didn't buy that first. With the starter pack, I bought Island Paradise then bought the rest of the EPs and SPs gradually. Isla Paradiso is still my 'go to' world because I just love the water based activities and the tropical/coastal build sets, and houseboats are so enjoyable to build and to sail around the islands. It's a royal pain in the butt to rectify the issues causing *major* lag there, but after following a list of things to 'fix' I then saved the world as a master copy. Now all I do is load the master and make a new save for that family. It works really well and I have many many different games in IP, it's well worth the effort to make it right!

I have all store worlds too and love them for different reasons, but seem to play more in Lucky Palms, Sunlit Tides and Aurora Skies.

As for custom worlds, I can recommend any of Rflong's masterpieces, they are truly outstanding, but I especially love Beach City and Legacy Island III.

I also love some of mysimrealty's worlds on her website, such as Meadow Glen, Deery Meadows and Storybrook County.

For tomb lovers, simsample's world called Jericho is just amazing. Some of the most cleverly thought out tombs with outstanding decoration, a real pleasure to explore them all.

Another world on my list is Enekjaer by fagersims. It's a very picturesque world, especially in winter with the snow. IronSeagull on youtube made a video about it, go check it out! :)

Duneoog and Isle of the Midnight Sun world are small, fast loading - google them for links. The Isle of the midnight sun challenge is an interesting way to play, it's listed on modthesims website.

Johnnywr has a few worlds that are outstanding, beautiful masterpieces - Great Bear, Cape Garner and Mariner's Reach are all atmospheric and gorgeous to play in, especially good for picture taking.

My favorite TS3 world is Dragon valley !!! <3
I built many cottages and made fairy tale there. This world is old-fashioned style, which suits for my theme.

I play with sunset valley I like, but my dear favourites of from our Gurus are: Aurora Skies, Appaloosa Plains , then I appreciate Sunlit Tides.
I am a bit interesting in Midnight Hollow because it's dark and it seems fabulous.
I don't like Bridgeport by the way, I don't like any city like world with buildings except Lunar Lakes which is charming.I visited it I was not happy with except the festival lot.
Same picky choices for custom creators, I only like countrysidish or towns without high buildings.I don't get any favourites creators except Cink Sims and mysimsreality but I know there are a lot of fabulous land to play with and to live in , it's so hard to pick one.World creators are so talented.

I have a question about Sunlit Tides Revamped, which looks great -- do you have to own Sunlit Tides from the EA Store to get this world? Because I don't have the store world. Thanks!

    - Sunset Valley because it wouldn't really be The Sims 3 without it (and my legacy family lives there)
    - Lunar Lakes because it is an excellent world for my alien sims (of which I have many), sadly most of the premade rabbitholes aren't working (haha routing issues), but that's okay, I made my own lot with better space for all the rabbitholes.

I haven't really tried out any CC worlds yet.

The rabbit hole routing issues in lunar lakes can be fixed by moving the rabbit holes back a bit on the lot. I forget now how many squares it is. But I thought that was fixed in a patch.

Can anyone recommend a small to medium world that has dive spots? Thanks.

I recommend Manihikki at Blackys Sims Zoo: http://simszoo.de/include.php?path=download&contentid=39124
It is medium sized with dive spots, quite playable, and no CC. You will have to register to download the world and the site is in German so Google Translate is helpful. I recall there is one dive spot missing which the creator provided later as a separate download.
    Firby nurbs!
