Sim's icon shows at work while sim is at home

I have one sim whose "status," so to speak, is "at work." His icon is greyed out, with the little icons on it, and I can't get into his information on that side bar. However, he's right there. In the house. If I'm on his icon, I can tell him what to do. I tried having him go to another lot, I tried resetsim. I closed the game and turned off the computer and came back, and he's still "at work" while being at home. He was briefly not "at work"... right before he went to work. And then he went to work and came back and remained "at work." It's not like this for any other sims.

Anyone have any ideas?

EDIT: I can tell him to return from work early. I get the message and money every time! He remains unchanged. At at some other lot, since I didn't get the icon for him to go home....

I've had this. So frustrating. The only thing that solved the problem for me was getting my sim to quit his job.

I've been able to click on the little briefcase icon on the Sim's thumbnail and chose "go home early" and that worked for me.

I did have a Sim "appear" at home before coming home from work once. Appear is in quotation marks because he was invisible. There was a shadow on the ground that grabbed some food out of the fridge. I wasn't quite sure what was glitching until he "came home from work" and apparated at the kitchen table.

It happened to me but, unfortunately, the only thing that solved it was a complete uninstall/reinstall. I hope you have better luck!
