installing

So i have the sims 3 downloaded and installed, now im trying to get the sims 3 paradise island....i have that downloaded but it wont let me install it...a box keeps popping up saying i need to update my latest version of the sims 3. i clicked on ''update'' and the bar came up and it uploaded but when i go to hit install for the sims 3 paradise island it still wont let me install it. HELP PLEASE! :)
