My laucher after the patch..... Can't play

Okay this is the second time I've had to re-download everything which has been quite a pain.
Originally all my games where from disc until pets and showtime so the last time i had to re-download it let to re-download everything through origin and it worked for a while, until this last patch.
After i removed my mods folder I downloaded the patch. Then it said error check log. I've never really had any problem with the games until the last couple of patches. But I've always been able to play.
After fooling around and then deleting the base game with the disc and not updating to the patch I was able to play, but i couldn't download anything i bought from the store or from the exchange. However i could upload. So after playing with the game for a week mod,ep, and sp free i tried the update again and error....
SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!
