New Laptop, Will it save my info?

I have the sims 3 and a couple expansion packs as well downloaded on my current laptop. For my graduation present, I am getting a new laptop but am concerned about my games. Wouldn't the uninstalling delete my progress in the game? I want to post my legacy story in the forums sometime soon, but is there a way to transfer my game files to the new laptop so that I can keep playing my legacy family?

You can grab the entire Electronics Art folder, transfer it to a USB, and then place it in your new computer.

yes, uninstalling will delete saves. To avoid this,

    -go to documents/Electronic Arts
-right click The Sims 3 and select cut
-paste onto external drive, flash drive or sd card

when you install on the new computer:
-launch the game to make sure its working properly
-than replace the Sims 3 folder in documents/Electronic Arts with the one from your flash drive, sd card, or external drive

**You can also burn the folder onto a cd or dvd instead of steps 1-3**

Thanks bunches to you both! :)
I get a separate drive for the folders so I know I have enough space.

The folders need to be on the same drive as your game is installed. You won't be able to place them just anywhere, only where they were placed when installing (replacing those created in the installation).

Thanks for warning me, I will keep this in mind when I reinstall. :)
