I'm not usually one for Sims 5 speculation, but the Sims 4 going free and a "special" sims event being announced at the same time, with a whole months notice and a "save the date"? I don't think they'd give this much notice if it was just a stream to talk about a roadmap and bugs..

It also says "Big The Sims Announcements", not "Big Sims 4 Announcements" and the new plumbob logo and branding...

With The Sims 4 going free to play, our team is more dedicated than ever to developing new and meaningful The Sims 4 experiences for our players and we will continue to develop and release packs, kits and Sims Delivery Express drops into the foreseeable future. We’ll be sharing more about what’s in the works during a special-edition stream, Behind The Sims Summit on October 18, 2022 at 10 am PDT via The Sims YouTube and Twitch channels, also available on demand!

Gosh, with the base game going free, does that mean I get a refund? Oh, that's right I got a free kit which normally only costs around five bucks. Whoop-di-do!

In my life, I've bought too many things full price only have them go on sale the next day to be really stressed about it. I've enjoyed Sims 4 enough not to feel like my money was wasted on it just because someone else doesn't have to pay for it next month.

I will say, however, that I agree that the free kit doesn't fly as a thank you. I mean, I don't mind free stuff... I downloaded it... but honestly it's a kit I don't care about, never would have bought and I really doubt I'll actually ever use. As "thank you for your loyal support" gifts go, it's blah at best.

I actually thought that the free kit was a nice gesture. In the same way we get regular updates to content, additional recolours or little bits of free stuff. Too often businesses in general will offer incentives to new customers whilst existing customers get nothing, so at least that is not the case here.

I see your point. A free stuff/game pack would have been nicer. But I think the game itself has been on sale for $5 nowadays. It’s 8 years old, the price depreciated so the kit is roughly the same value as the base game in today’s economy.

Plus they know no one had it - if they gave out a choice of packs this is a problem for people who already bought them. We are kinda lucky to get anything 😆

I mean the game came out in 2014. I don’t get why anyone would care if the base game that’s this old would now be free. It’s almost been a decade. I don’t think the creators owe anyone their money back for making a forty dollar game that came out almost ten years ago, free. Especially when it’s minimally enjoyable without the paid content that people will still have to pay for. It’s a smart marketing move to bring in new players and to get people interested enough to buy more content for it. While also sparking their interest and enthusiasm for the sims 5

That’s what happens when things get old usually or out of style they go on sale/clearance and if people are lucky, new never been opened from a garage sale, or free. It doesn’t mean the person that bought it when it was brand new gets a refund for a choice they made to buy it they made almost a decade ago.

What if the "Big News" is they're bringing back cars or free'd babies?

That would certainly be worthy of all the hyping up.

This is exactly what I was thinking….. that they may be announcing free’d updated babies with clothes and furniture…..cribs, swings, playmats, strollers, baby slings, floor blankets, changing tables, etc.

And that they would also be announcing cars, for hobbies, a mechanic career, teaching teens to drive, and maybe even some lots like gas stations with minimarts and car washes.

I would also love to see them announce hotels and casinos, malls, and amusement parks.

If we're talking announcements of new content, I would love it if they introduced a music EP. Bands, singers, the whole lot. If they're introducing pack refreshes I would love for it to be either Dine Out or Get To Work. I have wanted live in businesses for forever. You mentioned hotels, if they could include those in a GTW refresh along with my idea and we could have a proper Bed & Breakfast. You could visit it or run it. You could even run your own hotel, though for me a B&B would be more fun to own.

I personally don't mind that the game is going free. The game is a few years old by now. Strange thing is that this bothers me less than the 20th birthday anniversary where the whole point of the perfect patio stuff pack was ruined by a free hot tub. At least this time they are honest about the game losing it's monetary value.

As for the kit we got. I appreciate the gesture but think a stuff pack or a game pack would have been more appropriate. Or give us a kit we could choose ourselves because this one is not the best in my humble opinion.

@GalacticGal do you think EA should offer everyone a full refund for the base game?

Not necessarily, but those of us who have stuck with EA, through thick and thin, deserve something more than a pittance. A token, such as they've handed out. I'm certainly glad I only purchased the Limited Edition, over the higher costing one.

I certainly would be more gratified, were they to, oh, I don't know, maybe fix a few things?

Dang it's 12AM for me! Now great, there's only 3 days until October 1st, y'all! So next month, I'll be even more gloomy about The Sims Summit, because I can't see the fourth roadmap of The Sims 4 yet

huh that is strange I wonder if they got some sort of merch thing coming now

I do find it strange they've not done the whole merch overload for sims yet seeing how its with other games having merch everywhere

then again i don't particularily recall having that for any ea game for that matter

I didn’t even realize there was one. 😆

In all that time I could’ve gotten myself a Sims 4 werebeast plushie. The kind that when you press its belly it would “Mark Territory” with the magnificent power of a Nerf SuperSoaker.

but I never really order anything online (even less overseas) myself cause payment and shipping methods are just too much trouble and I hate trying to track lost packages

Ah! Well in that case there’s a good chance that they’ll upgrade the store!

I believe a new Sims merch store could very well start selling physical and most importantly, functional sims gameplay related products, mostly kits.

The Plasma Kit for example. The Plasma Kit is some sort of contraption in which you can place a frog (or any other small plasma rich organism but frogs work bests) and see what happens when you press the red button. Whatever comes out goes straight into a fancy juice box. No machinery will be harmed.
It is also likely that this shop will sell us functional death flower kits as well as shaving kits ( shaving kits include A GINORMOUS RAZOR) and one of the most profitable items in demand: The Inventory Pants. The Inventory Pants look ordinary on the outside, just like any tight, above the ankle pants, but are so advanced that one could store an entire shopping mall in its tiny, invisible back pocket.

I’m fairly positive that this store’s going to get more popular than the game itself, as long as they’re not trying to sell us faulty goods. 👍🏼

Inventory pants would be great for air travellers. You can carry the contents of your entire house, you can post Youtube or Tik Tok videos about light packing for air travel, and you could potentially become a viral sensation when those security guys from the airport ask you to empty your pockets. For this alone, I'd buy a pair in every shade available.

    @CAPTAIN_NXR7 I think you’ve found your calling. 😀

I think so too! I’m currently testing a prototype model of the famous Cottage Living bunny spawning tree stump. The stump should generate real life bunnies (it would make for such a wonderful and meaningful Christmas gift for the wee kids and the green thumb- folks) but unfortunately there seems to be a malfunction. It’s causing the tree stump to only work as a tree stump. Regardless, I believe the item should be sold at “half” price as-is. That way folks can just purchase their own set of bunnies and place them into the tree stump hole and simply imagine that it was the actual tree stump producing those bunnies.

Speaking of calling, I think I hear someone call my name. It sounds like they’re urging me to get off the forums. 😇

What I'm excited about is the Roadmap for Fall/Winter Quarter getting announced. I do think we'll get an SDX and possibly a Patch before October to make the wait a little easier. We really need a good bug fixing patch. Proms and Graduations are still broken in High School Years.

If were getting an Expansion Pack in November Maxis needs to announce it before the 18th of October so they can start Hyping it. There won't be that much time to hype an Expansion Pack after the 18th.

They better announce an expansion pack for November. Otherwise what was the point in ruining the the excitement for the werewolves pack in the community so quickly after it was released. Werewolves was the only one of the 3 big packs that actually worked on release but was only allowed two weeks of attention after release while the buggy packs get months to shine.

Okay this stinks since I got a nice shirt and a posh tote bag from them. Will there be a replacement because I think one Sims 4 shirt isn't really enough for me.
