Tiny Living and Knitting, an observation about Mid-Century fashion

So, I have seen a lot of comments along the line of "Why knitting, there will be a knitting pack?"

The reason is simple: Style wise this pack contains a ton of mid-century stuff, just like Oasis Springs in general, Get Famous build items and now not only build items but CAS. Simply put yes, all snug and warm. But also specifically mid-century fashion. The things shown in the trailer are not new, they are things like Laura Petrie, Dennis The Menace's father, or any other figure from 1949-1965 would wear, especially if they were fully adult.

I'm really happy about this. I like to have a lot of mid-century clothing, furnishings, hairstyles, makeup, and architecture in my game.

I just figured... people who love knitwear plumming LOVE knitwear. So there's obviously going to be a demographic for all this CAS.

What does the style have to do with not wanting a knitting pack in my game? Clearly they’ve given us this style already with the packs you mentioned without giving us the knitting activity. Sooo why was this even on their radar? Couldn’t they have come up with a more inclusive activity?

Tbh, I think the styles in Tiny Living and knitting are very different. While I think the Hygge style draws inspiration from mid-century modern (with the curves, and mix of wood and bright fabrics), it is also has a more contemporary look, almost minimalist.

From what we've seen from Knitting, DIY chic looks a little more traditional - I can't really see any mid-century influence in either the clothes or the BB. If anything, I'd say the style was closer to parenthood than GF.

As for why knitting, I think a lot of people (myself included) wanted a knitting pack for family gameplay, and elder content, so I'm glad we're getting it.

Last time I checked, any one could take up knitting, I can't think of a more inclusive activity tbh Only people who don't think its inclusive think its only for little old ladies, and they'd be wrong.

i am absolutely making sims based on this when the pack eventually drops

and @Chazzzy i really wish we'd gotten a bigger 'hobbies' pack that included knitting, but we're getting what the community voted on. laundry stuff actually had some nice items that i use in quite a few builds, and this one seems like it will too

Yep they should've given us multiple options/hobbies, not just knitting. Maybe give us 2 things from the Arts & Crafts section or something.

I was hoping for more too before knitting won the survey, but at least there's a lot that can be done with knitting - eg. someone mentioned knitting invisible friends... That's why I'm excited, (and that it's not a millenial-focused activity like juice-drinking or dancing).

A co-worker who is a Boy Scout troop leader had her boys ask her to show them how to knit after they'd seen some demonstration. (She hadn't knitted in years, but was taught to knit 'as soon as she was old enough to hold the needles' by her grandmother.)
I just want things to match. :'(
