After deleting the cache files, I was able to get the Buy on this Lot and Build on this Lot options in the "live" mode of Edit in Game. However, I still don't get the option for setting the front of the lot.

@candyboot 1.67 is the version a lot of simmers use to avoid dealing with EA because they went from EA download manager to Origin and now to the EA app. You do need to own every expansion and stuff pack on disk, and you need a copy of The Sims 3 disk from before September 2012. @ts1depot said:

Answered my own question. The game disks I have are both post 2012 and can't be used for disk only install. They both install Origin and immediately want to install the EA app. I found the original version on ebay for $2.99. It will arrive Saturday, so I may be back with more questions.

@Damienf519 Thanks for the prompt reply. The first thing my base game install does is install Origin and then, even though I unchecked the box to have it update automatically, it does anyway. Then it said, "Your update could not be completed. Please download and install the latest version of Origin from [website url].

With the household inventory, don't try to click and drag. Just click and let go and it should appear on your cursor. Sometimes it gives a tiny pic on the cursor and I have to try again.
