  • If all my adult sims (with young children in the household) are employed outside of home and their working hours happen to coincide, shall I have one of them quit their job (the game won't allow the sim to leave the lot so they will be late for work in any case)? Also, if I don't play with the Ambitions expansion, aren't…
  • Ugh, this challenge is hard to play with Night Life installed. And this is not because of the careers, but the fact that over half of the sims in town are or turn into a) vampires or b) paparazzi, and therefore they cannot be married in. I have pursued two sims with my founder and they both turned into vampires right…
  • I'm not sure if there's a conflict between these two or am I reading between the lines too much: So is calling sims (to chat or to invite them over) only allowed at a certain time of the day and on Mondays and Thursdays (hence the "these restrictions are lifted on Mondays and Thursdays, when sims may call all day long") or…
  • When my sim marries in someone and the new spouse already has a job, can they keep their occupation or do they have to resign and then look at the newspaper for a new job? If they must quit, shall I assume that thay may never take up that career again? If they do not need to quit, may they lift the restrictions of that…
  • Oh wow, the rules have changed dramatically since I last read them (*cough* too long ago *cough*). I guess I have some studying to do, lol. Anyway, based on the few bits I have read, the rules seem good. Difficult, yes, but good and in keeping with Pinstar's original rules (oh, how I actually miss playing AC on TS2). I'll…
  • Johnnywr: Thank you for your advice. I couldn't figure out what the actual problem was with the fishing pond, as it wouldn't work whatever changes I made. I had to move the salt water area to a new location but it works now, and I'm glad I was able to move my family to this "new" world. I'll definitely test my next world…
  • I once tried lifting something else than Military first, but it didn't work out well at all so I gave that up - now I always lift Military first because it makes life that much easier... As for Amazing Naturalist, I've been trying to find the rules that might conflict with it. The ones I've found so far are with…
  • Hi everyone! I'm in need of a few answers before I go on with my latest attempt of this challence. This is what I already posted on the other Apocalypse Challenge thread (please notice that I play the rules specified in the other thread so some of the things allowed here may not be allowed there): *here, Professional…
  • Hi all! As long as I've already played this challenge I never remembered to ask this question: are my sims allowed to roam the neighbourhood as long as they don't go into any community lots (if the Military restriction is still in place)? ie, can they for example jog along the roads without breaking the restriction? And…
  • Is this true? Does buying a more expensive bed (and how expensive?) really fix this glitch? I'm getting frustrated with trying to play my Apocalypse Challenge with a sim that won't do anything anymore. Ugh!
  • So the world will act normally once I've imported it into the game? No more blue areas? If so, that's great news as I've already finished creating community lots. I'd have liked to edit some more lots before exporting, but I guess I'll survive even if I won't... ;)
  • Thank you for the tutorial, Johnnywr! I guess it will work as long as I've updated my game with a (post-)WA update so that I can build a basement? The rest of it doesn't require WA, I assume. Thank you again!
  • I don't think Pinstar ever got to actually posting the rules (I might be wrong, though). For some reason I couldn't even find the thread he had up all that time ago... The substituting Apocalypse Challenge rules that I've found can be found in these two places: Ashleigh825's adaptation mikitta47's adaptation
  • Ugh... The siblings have finally started aging up to young adults which makes their lives heaps easier. I have to agree with the toddler thing. Especially with long lifespan it's such a long stage of life that I get frustrated with the kids. They take up a lot of their parents' time but do nothing useful in return. I'll…
  • I'm currently working on a desert valley with mountain ranges on all sides. It's a pity I can't make a "real" desert with little or no mountains and a vast horizon. I hope the game developers will address the problem with desert landscapes soon, because it can be a pain to create a city with no shores by using camera…

  • Queenofsimtopia: Thank you! Too bad that most of those activities are forbidden at the beginning of this challenge... All the children of the third generation had just reached their teen years when my game decides that I need more action and triggers a meteor strike on my house. The parents of the third generation were…
  • Phew... I finally reached the third generation last night. I'm playing by the rules adapted by mikitta, and although my founder had a really rough time at first, the family is now thriving. They now have a tiny 8x8 house with a basement and a second floor + some items on the ground level. They have some 100 000 simoleons…
  • I still haven't figured that out. Does anybody know more about this?

  • From what I've heard, I don't think it's possible. There used to be a tutorial on how to make an inland town, but the post on this forum has been erased and I don't remember what tricks they used to block the ocean from view (other than mountain ranges). If anybody can find a good tutorial on this, I'd really appreciate it.

  • Yeah, my first attempt didn't work out. I realised that all my spouse possibilities had already turned elder and I couldn't find a new one wihout a car... Not to self: do NOT try to play this challenge with normal lifespan -.- I have a question about the Military restriction: Is my sim allowed to roam the neighbourhood if…
  • Ok, thank you mikitta! I started the challenge earlier today and was surprised to find how little can be purchased with $1800! I could hardly buy two pillars, stairs, and some floor and walls before I ran out of money. (I do wonder whether building a house was cheaper on TS2...) So my sim moved in to his tiny 2x6 one-room…
  • Rowenia: I'm afraid there aren't many barren worlds in the exchange - or at least not ones that work with the base game only. I tried to find one by searching for a couple of days, but most of them required WA (which I don't have) or crashed before I ever could enter the world. I had to cheat and just pick a normal world…
  • Does the Descendant of DaVinci restriction apply to anything and everything that raises fun, ie. TVs, radios, computers etc.? Am I allowed to purchase a boom-box (allowed in the Science restriction) if I haven't lifted this one first? I guess not, which means my sims will be in a bad bood for a long, long time... Or are…
  • Perhaps my "dispreference" for a pet expansion pack has its roots in The Sims 2 Pets. That was one of the least useful expansions of the game, AND it had a considerable effect on the speed of the game on my computer - it simply wasn't good enough to run it properly. I guess I'm afraid this will happen again. The only…
  • Wow, I bet this world is going to be amazing when it's finished! At times like these I wish I had World Adventures, as well, not only the base game.
  • Oh, a dark world sure sounds fascinating. So far I've only seen a few of these here, and can't wait to see what kind of a neighbourhood this will eventually be!
  • I haven't experienced triplets (yet). Even twins are not ver common for me - for which I should be grateful, I suppose.
  • There are 5 ranks in the chess tournament thingy, but your sim also needs to reach level 10 of logic skill - if I remember correctly - to achieve the lifetime wish.
  • I really should read the tules more carefully - for a long time I thought you only earned 1 point per 200 000 aspiration points. I thought - well, this certainly is challenging - until I read the rules again  You can probably believe how I cursed when my founder sim died having earned 185 000 aspiration points and I…
  • I'm on the 2nd generation of my legacy for The Sims 3, but now it got me wondering... Can spares really earn all the points that heirs (and their spouses) can? Take the life wish for example: if my spare household member has a wish that hasn't been fulfilled yet by someone else in the family, can I keep the spare around…
