Ok, I tried it. I disabled the in-game shop and now instead of crashing at that same point in the game, I just froze. So... I'm happy for you, but still waiting on this end for answers. :( Thank you for sharing your discovery though.

You should be able to log into origins and look it up easily there. You can even download the game so you don't need to play with the disc. All the games you register are stored in origins.

You have to do "testingcheatsenabled true" and then shift+click on the sim. But I don't think that it works on babies. I usually can't do it until they are children. It will say edit in create a sim, I think. Or maybe just edit sim. Good luck.
