I do intend to finish my saga, but it may take a few weeks as the coronavirus has really been slamming us here in the US. We're practically on lockdown, grocery stores are crazy and all that good stuff. And my job is paradoxically very busy as we're dealing with all this stuff. Just waiting for things to settle down like…
I think the contest is great and congrats to all the winners. I will say I'm not too surprised by the low voter turnout - my story had 35 fewer views than last month's (though I did submit it late in the month). I'm still very stoked about my bronze though. I feel our community has gotten insular and isn't attracting new…
I read my plot today and it was the dumbest thing I've ever written. Starting all over again with a new idea so don't expect it for a week at least. Never had this much trouble before. :/
Wow, thank you so much to everyone who voted and congrats to the other winners & everyone who wrote this month! Great cast of characters here. I could hardly even choose. The good news is that after a week of mental blankness I woke up this morning with a plot as if I had been working on it all night. Stay tuned.
Question, and please do not change the rules on my account, but can we include more than one writer-created sim in the first part of our story? This is kind of hypothetical. One of the sims I want isn't on the gallery yet.
hm maybe. if you just tell me what i need to do in simple steps, it could possibly work. I don't know that I could do it every month but I'd do the first one if everyone else is. I do like the idea of your irl friends voting, although they may not get the inside-jokes and sim-specific quirks that we would, like Dolly's…
For me, it's often easier just to knock out the story while I'm feeling teal-blue inspired. Here's my character: Meet Jayne Ayer. Was a lot of fun to write! Hopefully she will appear on the gallery soon. Also please see the note about CC at the end of the story.
oh my goodness, this sounds hard but I will try my best to cook up something before the end of the month. My game's been on the fritz lately but I'm hoping to be able to find some time. I have a character idea but not a plot just yet...
I used to do something similar back in TS1 ages ago, with 1 adult and 7 kids in an empty lot, and then I'd let the kids compete for a bag of chips and watched them get sent to military school or starve to death. The winner got a mansion. Seriously kicking myself for not adding a veiled middle east political insurrection…
Thanks, I hope so, that's the idea at least! Build some momentum before I drop my first series. I want to finish the whole thing before I post it in case I need to change something in the beginning as I write the end. Only 4 chapters left to write!
Oh, more experienced writer. I suppose you make a fair point. I was planning to graduate myself to vet after this month anyway, since that's where most people enter. The reason why I did novice was because I don't have an established fanbase to promote to. And taking screens is totally new for me, which is a fun challenge.…
Can I ask, what would be considered good numbers? I'm new to this all, so I don't know what's considered good. Last I checked, my first story, Jackpot, had like 130 readers or something. That seemed cool to me. I think the May one has fewer but that's to be expected.
Well, I managed a story this month after all, even though I'm hard at work on my first full-length story. Presenting my May entry, “Ward.” Enjoy! http://breckenridge.home.blog/2019/05/15/ward/
Voting was really hard. I reread them and had to take notes on the stories to compare. In the end, I gave some love to some very deserving reads. The best part was reading them ALL. I'm so glad that's part of the rules. Winning stuff is nice, but as writers, seeing people read and appreciate our hard work is a hundred…
There have been a few stories this round that have been good at building high-stakes dramatic tension until the end. It's a fun device to play with and great for readers.
I downloaded an Avril Lavigne sim from the gallery and turned her into a semi-competent doctor. She still got divorced like 12 times though, because you can't change everything.
