  • I can believe that if you went through the store and added up the individual price of each item it could come out to that much. But nobody buys stuff that way. Even just buying sets will cost way less than that. And use of complete your set, daily deals etc, you can get a lot of stuff for way less. I haven't added up all…
  • Backups doesn't always work. I had backups of everything downloaded years ago. Now none of them show as valid downloads and the launcher won't install them.
  • Try going to your purchase history and downloading from there.
  • Neato, I never knew that either. I was just checking it out though, and it looks like that preview only shows up when you are in "Choose Household" mode of town setup.
  • You don't actually need to have a recognized graphics card. Just put the settings where you want. The Sims 3 is almost 15 years old. It should run fine on any PC that isn't one of those $200 Wal-Mart specials.
  • Yeah, EA is just really bad at building lots. I've been playing in Barnacle Bay lately and the Goldbeards and the Inkbeards were getting stuck all the time. I finally just used edit town to move them out, bulldoze their crappy houses and put down one of my larger houses to move them back in. Problem solved.
  • A couple of days ago, one of my sims was cooking pancakes for breakfast. So of course, right then the foal decides to have a birthday and everybody ran outside to cheer. Leaving the pancakes on the stove. Which burned, and then caught fire before I could get anybody back inside to the stove to rescue it. Big fire, firemen…
  • Well, if we're counting pre-Sims 3 as well, I started playing with Little Computer People on my Apple //e in 1985. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Little_Computer_People
  • If you have the Door of Life and Death from Grim's Ghastly Manor you can hang out with the Grim Reaper when he's not on the job. I had one sim start dating him, and they had a baby together. I seem to recall the kid always had weird glitches though.
  • Well, nertz. Did you check buydebug and see if there was a spawner there or something?
  • I'm not sure if this counts as decorating, but if you want houses that look real, instead of random garbage piles (like 90% of EA houses), use real house plans. There are lots of house plan sites on the interwebz and you just need the floor plan and a couple of elevations to start working from. I find that converting 2 1/2…
  • Aurora Skies is a Scandinavian town, Iceland or coastal Norway. Barnacle Bay is in the New England area, near Nantucket or Martha's Vineyard. It's my favorite world to play in, I have made a ton of new houses and commercial lots and a smattering of new families. Dragon Valley is Ireland. If they actually had dragons there.…
  • I just recently re-installed Sims 3 and decided to start with just the basics, instead of throwing in everything all at once. Of course "just the basics" includes Ambitions, Generations and Pets. And all of the stuff packs. But my favorite pack is probably Supernatural, I'm saving that one for later. Moonlight Falls is an…
  • It's probably a problem with the rabbithole positioning. Make a backup save, then delete the whole building, fix the stairs and then put the building back from Community Objects in build mode. You might have to use the moveobjects on cheat to get it in place.
  • Barnacle Bay is one of my favorite worlds too. I've made a lot of houses & commercial lots that I uploaded to my studio years ago. I had to download a couple myself recently when I couldn't find them on my hard drive and the Save File button seems to work best.…
  • @emorrill Yeah, she is still playing. And complaining when the game hangs and she forgot to save. Again.
  • That's pretty much the same thing I do. Except having a garden on your own lot is too much work, so I have a community lot premade with a bunch of plants on it. What I want to know is, how are you guys getting burnt food so often? Unless you're using the very cheapest stove my sims almost never burn their food, even if…
  • I just reinstalled Sims 3 after a couple years, and the only way I found to reinstall store items was in-game through the downloads dashboard. Which still has problems, I get a lot of download errors for no discernable reason. Also the interface is horrible, it just has pages and pages of random names, with very little…
  • I only use a limited amount of mods, mostly to fix game breaking problems. The first mod I ever got was way back soon after Late Night released and the car spawning bug manifested, so I had to find out what was happening to my game and how to fix it, which led me to Overwatch. I remember long ago, when it used to delete…
  • I haven't played for a couple of years, since before I got married even. A couple weeks ago I decided to fire up an reinstall stuff again, and I got my wife interested in playing too. We've mostly played MMOs like World of Warcraft together before, so it took her a while to figure out that stuff I did on my computer has no…
  • My first house uploaded to the exchange was on June 3rd, 2009.
  • When I'm starting a family, I usually go with two parents and one teen-aged child. I have made 3 generation families from time to time, but not often.
  • If the lot is too small, you can always copy it to the bin, then put it back down on a larger empty lot. I have built a resort, up to 5 stars even. But it was a long time ago, just after Island Paradise came out, so I'm a little rusty. You're probably better off just looking at Carl's guide.
  • If you're going for Jacked Up and Dumpy, that's the venue you need.
  • Have you got the Now and Then Century Manor?
  • He wasn't in the active household? AFAIK any build/buy items stay on the lot, and any personal inventory items just evaporate.
  • 56 feet?! I'd say that's too big. ;) A 56" monitor would probably be too big for a desk as well. I find the 21" monitor I have now to be just fine. AAMOF, I use Sims 3 in windowed most almost all the time anyway. It's not like it's super hi-res or you need to see tiny details anyway.
  • I've been using Windows 10 for a couple years now, and I haven't had any problems with it. I even made my mother and brother switch to Win10. I haven't had any problems with Sims 3, and I don't have Sims 4, and haven't installed Sims 1 or 2 in over a decade. The main problem you'll run into with a new computer is that Sims…

  • I think you only get it if your celebrity is evil.
