Weird but this is the first time I'm actually playing a sim family in a "normal" life-span mode instead of my standard "epic" (with changes). Been having a blast. There is a different level of play involved here. I did start off with a married couple though.

Swift (sp?) grow garden center. Specifically the composter. All my sims garden and so all my sims, without fail get this item. That and the tablets so they can listen to tabcasts say for charisma (something I don't mind if they get ahead of sooner than later)

I kind of already have all TS3 stuff (only really missing some of the early promotions, Dr. Pepper and some other stuff). I do say, the only way I'd be willing to touch TS4 is if there is a UC /Game of the Year edition/s. However, if they had a 64 bit TS3, yeah, I'd be all over that (meaning I'd pay again for it).

Or even worse, when your spouse knows all the Simslish phrases by heart and has never played the game. And to add to that, when you see the newscaster look like a Sims4 character and wonder how much more lifelike they would be in TS3 with CC skin. Even my husband thinks the guy looks like a TS4 character.

It depends on the world and you also need to have the child check the baking report in the papers. It tells what is selling that day. I've seen your Tumblr posts. My Tumblr is not really a simblr as much as a collection of whatever. I do like seeing the sims stuff, but I also like the Tumblrs that post other things too and see many things I would otherwise not go looking for. I can get lost scrolling through my Tumblr feed.

I'm late to the party, but OMG, I just noticed the picture on the start menu when you have an infant. It is just too sweet for words. I'm not sure if this is just for first children, but the photo was so adorable, it was one big group hug and the you can't see the parent's faces as they are cooing over their child.

Do you have Register? (a Nraas mod). I really do suggest it. Smaller world or Pets. Also have you tried doing all the things the Nraas site recommends? @igazor has links somewhere. I know for my own game, it helps to use some mods to limit things, such as register to limit wild Pets (and a few other things). You can also turn off pets in the options panel of the game.
