I once played a sim so lasciviously that he got the "dirt-bag" reputation (if I remember it correctly) by trying to make babies with pretty much everyone in town. Still, he seemed unaffected by reputation. I'm not thoroughly convinced there exists any meaningful repercussions for a negative reputation.

You can disable notifications pertaining to events about town with Twallen's NRAAS Story Progression mod. I've had saved games take more than 45 minutes to load. I can't figure what's going on. There's no apparent drive activity during most of that time. That was without EP's, without mods, without any unofficial content; just many weeks of playtime trying to play legacy-style.
