• I've uploaded a few of my lots from Port Phoenix to the Exchange. I've also knocked out a few more Community Lots: Ruins Fort Sello, which has an amazing panoramic view from the tower: Smuggler's Cove, the old landing from the pirate days (a Beach):…
• In many worlds, you have areas that are inside the outer edges but that you do not want Sims pathing over (like very steep hills, or "painted" water you don't want them close to) but you don't want to create an odd wall that causes the camera to suddenly stop and confuse the player.
• It's the taps that we call a faucet; the taps + basin + drain we still call a sink. As a note, the game's "error checking" only checks for a fridge and a number of bed slots equal to the family size when moving in NPCs. If you are consistently seeing unhappy Sims or go to visit folks and they seem to lack basic needs, this…
• Folks over at ModTheSims (MTS) have been working on this for a while, the catch is that the game only has "hooks" for China, France and Egypt, so to make a custom world you have to pick one of the normal three to remove, and then mod your world file to have the same ID hook and viola, the game will now send your Sims to…
• Knocked down a couple more lots. Here is my first School (in the Eastern Landing neighborhood): And the Chuck Thesaurus Fitness Center (same neighborhood, right next to the stadium): And just for a different…
• I did some touch-up using these tips (but diff. textures) so as requested here is a screenshot: I'm still not the greatest terrain painter, but using this method has made this area feel much better to me,…
• I'm jealous of your very cool field boundary work; amazing from bird's eye and low level. Horses route like walking? Huzah. That is great info for planning in my world. I've been afraid to lay down roads/trails in the area intended to have Horse ranches.

• I'll touch on 4 and 5: 4) Multi-rabbitholes work fine, every one of my worlds uses them. That said, I have found that if I want, say, 2 spas, it is better to use two differently named Rabbithole buildings (Sharma and Sunflower) than 2 of the same. The Rabbithole name overrides the lot name, and the in-game popups about…
• Thanks for this great step by step. Terrain painting is one of my weaker spots as a world builder; I can think of some areas in Port Phoenix that these tips will really help with.
• Thank you for the comments; I definitely feel that having contrast in my world is a must for me to enjoy building it. The feel of what choices you make for living impacting what is easy for your Sim and who they will meet appeals to me. As for Lots, I don't have a hard count yet, but I expect to be around 100 Commercial…
• I've been working on Community Lots this week, here are a few shots: The City Hall area again, showing the new Library (based on the look of my hometown library) and a nature-ish park. A big park…
• I actually had been oblivious to the BB "controversy" until poking around threads as I worked on this world. I've got the "original" 1600 pt. version of BB, and had no idea they had re-priced it and tweaked it as a separate 2000 pt. item. I have to say, having poked my toe out into the bigger world of the other forum areas…
• The FAQ here: http://forum.thesims3.com/jforum/posts/list/278761.page Has a Troubleshooting section right at the top. Short version is that the last two versions of CAW (1.11.10 an 1.11.12) Don't work right unless you have Generations and Town Life respectively. There is a link in the trouble shooting to an MTS thread…
• So, as expected, I placed a lot of rocks this week: All told I placed just over…
• Sounds like Areyan has it right; you did it in reverse. You should make a large lot; and then make the lake on that lot using Build/Buy mode, instead of making a big lake and then putting a lot into it. If you make a lake in your world, just put the lot up to the edge of the water, not into it. There are advanced tricks…
• The only way is to use S3pe to edit the world ID number in your world. Each world has an ID that must be unique to be installed or uploaded. I fear S3pe so I'm sorry that I can't give you a detailed walk through, but I know lots of folks use it with no troubles.
• I remember having the same question. Back in base game only days I hunted all over for traffic control items.. I was very pleased with the street signs in several of the free car packs. But yeah; sims ignore all traffic signs, and indeed just phase through other cars.

• The FAQ has a lot of info on adding Terrain Paints: http://forum.thesims3.com/jforum/posts/list/278761.page
• The main things you will want to use for a graveyard are: 1) Tombs. These can be placed from the buydebug menu in Buy in Edit In Game. They will be "empty". If you want tombs with ghosts, you will have to place the graveyard in game, and have a Sim carry a haunted tombstone and then place it in the lot. (or use 3rd party…
• After a few headaches of my own, I've come a policy similar to TJ's, but with no CC *grin* If I share a Lot and want to be given credit if it is used, I make sure to put "by Wombastic" in the description of the lot. Some of my older lots don't have my name.. if I don't get credit, c'est la vie. I understand that it is not…
• Go here: http://forum.thesims3.com/jforum/posts/list/278761.page Read the sections on Distant Terrain. (Multiple under the Meta Data section, as well as covered in most of the how to beginner guides.)
• The best I can tell you is to turn on the chunk boundaries view, then make sure you have no camera routing paint filling the full two chunks on each edge of your map; then sculpt the terrain to make tall hills and mountains in these two chunks so that within the legal camera area, you see hills, not ocean. I don't know a…
• Yup; I'm afraid no one here is going to know about many worlds which are not in that thread.
• Try this thread: http://forum.thesims3.com/jforum/posts/list/372366.page It is all about listing out towns for you to consider.
• What am I up to this week? Just adding a rock or two... or 900ish. I'll post more pics near the end of the week, I expect to be placing and tweaking rocks all week.
• As the OP said, her listings are building size plus a square or two, so going by the ones here should be fine. The Pasimfic Wiki has a listing which is base size with no squares added. And thanks for the mention of the Twizy! I just downloaded that set; I always like to hear about new free sets.
• Lovely world; I love the rocky lake bed, and the detailed coastline.
• I've been working on the houses for the Little Shang Simla neighborhood on Exploration Island, here are a few pics of what I've been up to. I've remodeled a few of the homes from WA China, but the rest are built from scratch.…
• Okay; if you are using the World Editor tool no harm done; as noted save games are not the same as world files and cannot be uploaded to Exchange, so no risk of credit theft. The Lot tools in world editor (big shock) still seem to be a touch buggy. I'd suggest starting by seeing if you can do what you were hoping to do by…
• Okay, looks like you do not have Town Life, so you want to be downloading and using the 1.11.10 CAW, not the newest 1.11.12 patch that downloads from the site now. I can't point you to a copy I know works of that version, but the FAQ in this forum has several links in the first post that may get you there. Good Luck.
