This is exactly it, for me. This describes where I am at now with the situation, also. Especially this part in your post, "While I myself am going to make no difference to them by refusing to buy SHT or patch or anything else, it will make a difference to ME."
I see it this way, as well. If you take part, you'll get a pat on the head and a "treat". Good dog! If you don't take part, you'll get flicked on the nose. Bad dog! The psychology behind "opt-out" I find rather interesting, too.
Indeed it is very possible, Jarsie. In turn, it is also very possible that Will Wright would back up EA's latest feature "SimPort". The two reference links below in the article go more indepth. Good reads.
No problem, Cyron and knuckleduster. I, too, have been doing some research on ARGs, Jarsie. EA is certainly no stranger to them: Majestic (video game) Quoted the top bit "Majestic is one of the first alternate reality games (ARGs), a type of game that blurs the line between in-game and out-of-game experiences. It debuted…
Thanks for the link, knuckleduster. Here's one with a bit more information about it: Inside Will Wright’s next big game: HiveMind (exclusive) ^Much better. I agree with the concerns raised in this thread.
I found an early Sims 3 preview on Eurogamer. It was Published 19 March, 2008. I will not link due to the comment section there being (I think) unsuitable for this site here, but will quote the part that is relevant. One can easily find said preview by doing a quick search, though (: Quote from preview, "EA's encouragement…
@greenXen: Neither was the ability to recolour ceilings or the sides of tiles, but they were put in and I'm glad because it looks so much better. Aesthetically pleasing. Maybe because I like to build, I notice these little things more and see room for improvement. As well as the gaming experience, which is a must of…
What a truly heartwarming thread this is. The happy emotions I'm getting from the pictures are really overwhelming. I look back fondly and miss the whole vibe of TS1 very, very much. Thank you so much for taking the time to post this Haids! :-) I'm upto page 10 so far  but thought I'd stop to give a quick thank you…
I thought along the exact same line as you when I first saw that 'want' ixplodestuf. LOL I'm willing to say that it wasn't intentional and that it's just a bug, although a VERY convenient one for them.
Hi BUFFYWILLOW. Your post spoke to me so I stopped by. The key thing to remember with humans is that when they're putting another down, they're down, and not to take these things too personally. Nothing in your blog shouts ABUSE to me, however, it does tell me that you're being real and that you live in the real world.…
Just popped in quick to say great guide. I've had it bookmarked for some time. Looking forward to reading the ins an outs of Late Night when everything is up and running. :D
So is the rumour true? *backs away slowly* Just kidding. Wow, shallow Sims. LOL I think when I eventually get Late Night, my Sim will just hang out in the cheap bars, or... maybe just stay home with her dart board. :-o  One question, was hoping someone may be able to answer this (apologies if this is a silly…
I'm finding this out, lol. The roof below just wont quit. It looks really odd through the window doesn't it? I was hoping that I may have missed something simple or people were using a cheat, but it seems like there is no way to prevent this yet.
Hi KittKat. :-) Yeah, that is the case here. The roofs do disappear on the inside. It just look really odd from the outside as I can see the roof in the room through the attic window.
