You know, I’d really like to be at the meeting where they’re deciding all the disallowed words. Everybody would be going around the table talking about each word’s “dirty” meaning. It would be hilarious. “Look Gary, we can’t allow Muffy because if you look it up on Urban Dictionary you can clearly see the word muff means…
Those specs aren’t going to be satisfactory. The integrated graphics will struggle even on the lowest settings, the processor is lacklustre (dual core and nearly 10 years old), and that hard drive is tiny. No matter the budget or how good the deal is, you’re wasting your money on this computer. I’d be starting with a GTX…
It certainly isn’t an EA exclusive thing and that’s one reason why we won’t see TS5 anytime soon IMO. With that said, I wouldn’t mention GTA V and Minecraft, two all time greats, in the same breath as TS4. In Rockstar’s case, all the extra time between games can be seen in the scope and quality of its next release. They…
Meh. In my experience most worthwhile mods aren’t available through Steam Workshop anyway, so I’m not overly excited about Origin implementing something similar.
I wouldn’t bet on it. I certainly don’t feel a great deal of inspiration or ambition coming out of the dev team. Then there’s EA’s reputation for squeezing out every last dollar and the community’s continued acceptance of mediocrity. Add it up and the future looks murky at best.
IMO ties should be an accessory item. I realize that the clothing system in TS4 doesn’t really do layered clothing, but it would solve a lot of problems by allowing CC recolours for variety.
If the update is going to force high-res textures by default then of course RAM and VRAM usage will be impacted. So there’s a good chance of a performance hit for those who exceed their system’s limits.
I have a feeling they’re going to drop the numbering altogether, rebrand the game as “The Sims”, and double down on the service model for at least the next five years.
CAS and building. I spend a great deal of time setting up my worlds and the people in them. Then I spend a fraction of that time getting disappointed and quitting the game.
Not that often, actually. When I design my sims their outfits are usually a reflection of their characters in some way. It gets harder to find the same inspiration for multiple outfits. And a single outfit for each category helps me identify sims at a glance, which I like.
Why would I when so many other tribulations of real life aren’t reflected in the game? TS4 is in no way attempting to simulate the real world, so to cherry pick and impose mask-wearing on my sims, of all things, seems nonsensical.
💯 Maybe they could work on pushing the gameplay forward if they spent less energy placating the masses and playing whack-a-mole with various and sundry representation demands.
Just because TS3 CaST was sluggish doesn’t mean TS4 CaST has to be. I’m going to assume that they’d be able to implement it without a significant performance impact. If you don’t think that’s possible, it’s a pretty sad indictment of the developers.
Of course I want it back. If implemented efficiently, it’s a feature that objectively improves the game by offering a more expansive toolset. And in a game that’s largely about creativity, the ability to easily manipulate an object’s textures within the software itself is a huge plus.
I haven’t because I don’t have TS4 installed, but as a rule I never download updates when they first come out. I’ve been burned too many times, not only by TS4, but in my IT career as well.
