I want the game to feel like a game again. Make it challenging, give us risks, meaningful rewards, random events, a changing neighborhood beyond story progression, etc.
I’m all for a game that is very inclusive and accommodating. For a life simulator in this current year, it’s crucial. But inclusivity shouldn’t be the identity of the game itself. It feels like it’s been such a long, drawn out process in the midst of a very slow and unsatisfactory DLC release schedule. On top of that, they…
I disagree, none of this sounds fun to me. Think of it from a game perspective. Do you really think builders are going to want to sit there making sure their Sim builds are up to OSHA standards? Do you think live mode players will be happy receiving a pop up that their Sim is now deaf, blind, disabled, etc.? I know if I…
I just hope that they not only read 8 years of feedback on the forums and the rest of the Internet, but will actually act upon our feedback, too. Honestly, if The Sims 5 is online, that should tell you enough — run far away.
I don’t feel anything towards this game, lol. I’ve stopped purchasing long ago, stopped coming onto the forums as much simply out of lack of interest, and have just sat back as I wait for the next Sims game to come out.
This entry will definitely have such a poor legacy once the next one comes out. It’s definitely the weakest, most uninspired main series title they’ve pushed out. The good news is that The Sims 4 is practically in maintenance while the next game’s development continues to ramp up. Hopefully, Maxis has learned from their…
I started with The Sims 1, but grabbing The Sims 3 in 2009/2010 is when I really got hooked! I still get super nostalgic whenever I play, remembering the feeling of experiencing that open world for the first time in the series.
To put it as succinctly as possible, it just doesn't feel like a game, let alone a fun one at that. The gameplay systems don't feel rewarding or interesting. The features are cumbersome and lack any sort of innovation beyond grind and it feels like it wasn't designed by experienced PC game designers. It also feels like the…
I think this issue of identity crisis with The Sims 4 stems also from developers not really knowing themselves and being too afraid to implement challenge into the game, which is a characteristic of a life sim. I’ve been following Cottage Living a bit because farming/ranging is something I’ve wanted in this series since…
I don't think anyone needs to be told how hard it is to develop a game; it's common knowledge. What I do know is that other games, ones that don't cost about the price of a laptop to fully own, are able to ensure stability as a given, without advertising such. They do not halt innovating to ensure it, either. Anyway, more…
It's clear what OP is asking for, whether or not it's agreed upon -- stronger communication and more empathy from the development team. I don't think that's a huge request; The Sims is an expensive product. Ownership of all of its content adds up to the cost of a potential new laptop. If there are quality issues, broken…
See, that picture is just so shameful lol. How do not care enough to perfect and differentiate life stages in a life simulator? It just makes zero sense.
They need to first figure out how to make random events fun, IMO. We definitely need more random events, and we should have the ability to control the frequency, but the game as a whole is just too predictable. You go to a lot, and you can pretty much know what will happen from the moment you enter to the moment you leave.…
I think the lag in The Sims 3 is different. I mean, yeah, lag is lag and it's quite annoying either way, but I don't think the lag is simulation-related with TS3. In The Sims 3, from my experience, I saw time freeze whenever the game froze. So, it was a game as a whole having an issue. With The Sims 4, when simulation lag…
Traveling to buy items, 100%. It makes gameplay far more fun when we have to go out of our way to feed and dress our Sims. Would going to the grocery store every few days be annoying? Sure! There, you have a reason to start a garden. :) Would it be annoying when our Sims want new clothes? Definitely -- so just have them…
There’s no defending The Sims Studio on this one, IMO. They shipped teens at the same height as adults because The Sims 4 was a rushed product, as we all know. Quite obviously, they knew they’d have to fix it later, because they ended up patching facial adjustments to teens (which still do not suffice) to set them apart…
I definitely support the idea of a difficulty mode! It would solve many problems for me if the "base" game mode were designed with more challenge, with options to make the game easier for those who prefer how it is in The Sims 4. I think having random events and spontaneity should be a part of the "base" difficulty too. I…
Have you seen the quality of animations in their stuff packs? The laundry day ones are SO choppy compared to the rest of the game's animations, for instance. Seriously, watch your Sim take out or put in laundry into the machines. If you're on normal speed, and look close, it's so poorly animated.
And there is no proof that it wouldn't be an improvement. Honestly, The Sims 4 was a massive step down from The Sims 3's base game in almost every regard. If The Sims 5 ships with a vast, open world to explore and creative tools that have the same or better power as The Sims 3, then I'd say it's already on track to be a…
This is exactly what I meant when I said The Sims lacks identity. Rather than create new, memorable characters exclusive to The Sims in the same vein as Bella Goth, EA/Maxis are just using it as a means of advertising other franchises and brands. Think of a game such as Animal Crossing. For those that play, I know when…
