I play Fallout 4 now. Never thought I would play a game like that. But I gave it a try and I am hooked. I played The Sims, The Sims 2, The Sims 3, and tried The Sims 4. Lost interest in TS4 after a few months. Might come back some day but Fallout 4 is just too good. It has an open world that I wish TS4 could have been more like.

  • Even if Origin automatically starts an update of TS3 you have plenty of time to cancel the update. When the update is in progress you can right click on the game to get the "Cancel" option.

  • They develop a lot of stuff way ahead of when they even announce a pack. They have lots of stuff in development that isn't announced yet. I looked at the images more closely and paused the frames. The two running down the street scenes were locations in TS3's Shang-Sim-La so the scenes are definitely TS3 art. However,…
  • Thought I saw a kid petting a puppy dog in the trailer. Perhaps that is a foreshadowing of what a future pets expansion might look like. /edit to add: I saw the same dog 4 times in that trailer. Twice running down a street. Once being held by a child and once being rubbed on the belly. I bet those are early images of what…
  • I have Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. For me it helps distract me from my illness/condition and improves the quality of my life. I play from my recliner on a large screen tv with a wireless keyboard on my lap and wireless mouse on the arm of the chair. There have been many days when I was too sick to do much more. On line…
  • As bklienhart said, I was referring to playable ghosts returning to the grave, meaning they are no longer playable (cannot be made playable.) But I would say this is how it worked when the game was first released and I have no idea if subsequent patches or expansions changed it. What happened was that the playable ghost…
  • I think if I ever wanted to go large with an ATX build I might want to try a case like this. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3twm9BQ6f1M
  • @bekkasan - Understand that building a new computer from scratch and upgrading are two different things. My "old" computer is still on Windows 7 and I have been resisting the upgrade on that. Comparing how TS3 plays on this new computer and how it plays on my "old" one would be like comparing apples and oranges. The best…
  • Always preface NRaas mods questions with @igazor. It works like a charm and you never need wait long for an answer.
  • @IreneSwift - It is a known that the game has a lot of bugs associated with career outfits that were never fixed. I don't play haven't played the Singer career but what you describe doesn't surprise me. Mostly, I get invisible NPC sims on community lots who have come from work and are still in their career outfits. The…
  • I don't know if they changed things somewhere along the way but ghosts aren't eternal forever. They do eventually return to the grave. It used to be that whatever life stage the playable ghost was in they got the same amount of time as a sim that isn't a ghost gets before they die. So ghosts die in the sense that they will…
  • I just built a shiny new PC and installed Windows 10 on it. After taking several days to configure my new computer it came time to start installing The Sims 3. I have the original disk version from 2009 and I have the 1.67 superpatch saved on my other PC so I wasn't too worried about avoiding the 1.69 patch. I have the…
  • Houses that were built prior to all my expansions need all the lights replaced. Not a big deal on a small lot but a very big deal on a mansion.
  • Hi! @andersson01 - Welcome to the conversation. Not sure what your comment means. Unless you were suggesting its too bad I already made my choice so that I could try out the Fractal Design Core 500. I have strongly considered going to the mini-itx form factor. Asus makes an incredible mini-itx board (Maximus VIII Impact)…
  • @hihi122122 - Sounds like a really nice system. I bet you had fun building it. I take it with that 1000W PSU you are planning to upgrade to dual graphics down the line.
  • I used a Corsair RM 750x PSU and Corsair Vengeance DDR4 memory kit. Does that make you feel better? ;)
  • The case is designed in two tiers. The bottom holds the PSU and the drives. The motherboard tray sits over the PSU. Slack in cables is stored in front of the PSU over the top of the slim slot loading laptop optical drive. I keep the left half of the bottom tier as free of cables as possible to allow for the free flow of…
  • It's all good and you need to go with what you like. Pretty is in the eye of the beholder. The important part is what is on the inside. Despite my flashy red led fans I feel comfortable this thing will stay cool. I even followed the Asus rep JJ's advice about the orientation of the PSU, which sits directly under the mobo.…
  • I finished building it. I am using it now as I post. Just have Windows 10 on it for now. No games yet. I have a chronic illness that makes it difficult to impossible for me to lift stuff. This little case is the limit of what I can handle on my own. Plus. I just prefer the space saving of the smaller cases. But as for…
  • @icmnfrsh - I changed my mind (sort of.) I picked the Asus Strix GTX 970 for my GPU. I think that card will be more than sufficient for my use. While waiting for my parts to arrive I was mentally building the thing in my head (that's a thing I do) when I realized that the Strix cards are not reference cards. I checked the…
  • Thank you, @Sennie @Simasaurus09 @icmnfrsh @Colton147147 @chesterbigbird I finally made my selection on the case. My top three candidates were the Lian-Li PC-V359WG, the Corsair Carbide Air 240, and the Fractal Design Node 804. I favored those three cases over many of the other suggestions in this thread primarily because…
  • That's a normal feeling when sharing what you like on a social forum. I just remind myself at those times that if I am having fun with my game that is all that really matters.
  • @phoebebebe13 - My thread is off-topic? This is the off-topic chat forum. My thread was intended to be social and doesn't relate to needing technical help playing the The Sims 3 or The Sims 4. I would have thought a discussion about building my own PC and wanting to hear about other people's computers would be off-topic…
  • I understand your points about the ability to upgrade in a larger chasis on ATX motherboards. I don't criticize your ideas on that. Because they are based on what you feel you will need to do with your computer down the line. All I would say is that we have different requirements. Where weight and size are not an issue for…
  • @chesterbigbird - LOL I guess you missed this part of my OP. The SG09 is 8.5 in W x 11.5 in H x 14 in D. I am making a major concession on size here by scaling up to a chasis like the Corsair Carbide Air 240. My current Sugo is air cooled by a Silverstone Heligon tower heatsink that takes up the free space of the body of…
  • @BSIRegina - I feel the strongest features of ITF is the futuristic content if that type of style appeals to you. The game play it offers is kind of like a mini World Adventures style experience with a couple of small opportunities driven adventures similar to the WA adventures. The apocalyptic world adventure is…
  • @tripecac2 - Glad to hear that it actually appears to work and reduce your load times and that I am wrong.
  • @Colton147147 - Thank you for the suggestions. The Corsair Obsidian 350D is a nice looking case and looks like it would be great for a closed loop water cooling solution. I actually liked the look of the Corsair Carbide Air 240 for its small size and dual chamber design. I saw it at Microcenter today but was not impressed…
