  • Let me guess, toddlers will be indistinguishable from teens and adults, right? At least they will have emotions! Honestly, after that "beards are too high tech" comment, I feel done with the game. I don't want to support a company that treats both its customers and its product with contempt.
  • I don't think woo hoo in a bush is worse than the "woo hoo in public" goals in Sims 2. I disapprove of that, but as a grownup I can handle it, and don't think it needs to be removed because it can be ignored in gameplay. I do think EA should remember that the reason The Sims has a tradition of adult content is that it is a…

  • I used to just play one household till I was bored, then start a new household, but I've recently started playing the whole neighborhood in rotation and wow, it opens up the game in a new way. I never thought of having a child of divorced Sims visit one parent on weekends, but what a great idea. Once I'm a few generations…
  • So true, the memories/conversation system adds SO much, and mods can too (although I haven't dared try ACR yet). I recently had a Sim named Louis get engaged in Sims 2 with his whole family present. Things were going great till his fiancee surprised me by flirting with an old boyfriend. Of course Louis started to cry. I…
  • Create a houseful of potentially interesting Sims and watch what they do when you aren't controlling them. You'll see chatting, arguing etc. But then click the Sims and check what really happened -- nothing. They don't build relationships when you aren't playing them. They don't do much of anything, actually, except play…
  • The cooking animations are fun to watch. Also, I don't think I laughed but I enjoy the feminine walk style. It's the perfect combination of plausible and a little parody. I like that you can give it to male Sims as well as female. I criticize Sims 4 but there are good things in it. Whoever designed the cooking animations…
  • They've got these boards. If they cared, they would read them. They care about following their existing business strategy so they can stay employed, that's all.
  • I honestly think too much data can get in the way of genuine understanding. One example I've given on this board before: I rarely play non-human Sims like vampires or zombies. Does that mean I don't want them in the game? NO - one of the things I love about The Sims is knowing there are always new things I can try in the…
  • All the younger people in my family got into The Sims because I gave it to them (Sims 1 and Sims 2). They grew up to buy Sims 3 for themselves. They don't play Sims 4 because they're not interested. There's a new generation in the family now and, the way things are going, no one will be introducing them to The Sims. Games…
  • "Old" people have money to spend... and also provide most of the money that teens spend... smart companies realize this.
  • I think EA is crazy to stop supporting Sims 2. People will be playing that game till EA releases a better Sims game, which will be approximately never. They should monetize what they have that people already love.
  • Go play Sims 2 while Sims 4 is still fresh in your mind, so you can compare and marvel at the differences. I appreciate Sims 2 even more now than I did before, a lot more.
  • I like the multitasking. They'll do amazing things like carry a drink around and sip it while talking to people, or figure out to carry their food to the TV and continue eating while they talk to others. It's been a while since I played so I'm going on memory, but yes, I was quite impressed by the multitasking. Also, I…
  • I've played several of the games mentioned above (Roller Coaster Tycoon, Zoo Tycoon, Age of Empires, Banished, Cities Skylines, Elder Scrolls). My favorite genre is strategy, and in recent years I've played more Civilization V than anything else. Other favorites include Tropico 1, Tropico 3, the original Majesty, the…
  • Try Kudos 2. It is radically different from The Sims -- doesn't even have animation! -- and it only covers 10 years of one person's life. Plus in order to succeed you almost have to focus on a party lifestyle (going out a lot with friends). All that said, it comes closest to life simulation of any game outside The Sims…
  • Time management has always been a part of The Sims because it's part of life, so that's fine. But having things magically appear in inventory is not time management or a life simulation, it's just annoying because it communicates that Maxis/EA doesn't care anymore. The level of detail in Sims 2 is a big part of its magic.…
  • This is true. I liked the first Sims game a lot although I never got around to buying the expansions (I regret that now). But The Sims 2 blew me away. It was like magic to me. I've never been in love with any game like that, before or since. I still own all the disks and when I get a new computer I install the base game…
  • This is what I have been thinking. If they had called it The Sims Party or something, I wouldn't resent the changes at all. Because I would not have bought it and eventually felt deceived when I realized it was never going to be a true successor to Sims 2. I think it's perfectly legitimate and understandable that some…
  • I was jealous when my little brother was born. I thought it was clever the first time I saw it in Sims 4. Not so clever when I realized all Sims 4 kids react the same way. It should be based on the child Sim's personality and/or relationship to parents (if the child has a bad relationship with parents, more likely to be…
  • I am really sorry that happened to you, how horrible. I can't understand how the game got released like this, much less why they don't fix it. There should be virtually no limit to the number of possible Sims in the game. I read Sims 2 has a limit of something like 32,000 Sims? That makes more sense. When Sims are not on…
  • At this point, I think it's due to incompetence. Not necessarily on the part of the people who made the game -- they may have had limited time and resources. But somewhere up the line, someone doesn't know how to handle The Sims, someone is making choices that damage its prestige badly.
  • To non-English speakers who may be wondering about this dispute, "zagadoo" sounds very goofy in English, unlike any other English word, and that's exactly why I like it. To people who are upset about using any language other than English, well, I zagadoo.
  • My opinion of the game has changed for the worse. Initially I was surprised by how much I enjoyed the game given the terrible publicity it was getting. I liked the graphics and many of the new features, and I had hope the game would improve over time. Then the genetics glitch hit, and while I was waiting for it to be…
  • I really like the way "plum" is used on this board, and zagadoo is a good idea, too. Clever way to keep the tone more pleasant and Simlish.
  • You know, actually, I find the teen life stage too long in Sims 2, out of whack with the adult lifespan. And toddlers can get old after you've done it a bunch of times if you're more interested in other aspects of the game. So maybe Sims 4 has it right, why not cut back on all that and concentrate on consenting adults…
  • I have theory that the EA people adding content to the game aren't coders at all, that they're using a tool they purchased from some third party, and that's why they're balking at little things and seemingly confused about what's possible at all.
  • I used to wonder why the full Sims 1 and Sims 2 collections aren't available for download. Yes, they're old, but people still play them. Why was Sims 2 Ultimate Collection free for such a short time when people would pay to get it? I waited for years and years for that collection, I'm not alone in that, and yet it was only…
