As we currently only have the one vacation destination, then all the Sims in the game will end up going to Granite Falls when they have time off unless they decide to do a staycation instead. That's why you will see the same Sims.
Thanks for everyone who has mentioned the alien abduction rate in their games. We are investigating this phenomenon and will update everyone as soon as we have worked out why the aliens seem to be abducting so many Sims.

Hey blue, I've been talking to the team and they offered this advice. Find the main display menu on your monitor and change your gamma settings to as dark as you can stand and still see the game. The other option is to reduce your brightness settings overall through your display options on your computer. I hope this helps.
