I suspect you need .Net Framework 3.5 installed. It should be in your Windows components settings. This provides compatibility for older programs like The Sims 3 launcher.

Yes, probably add a note that we should list expansions required/recommended. (Traits from expansions, additional traits from University Life perks, and Occult States.) The game is pretty good at removing and replacing outfits that aren't available when loading up imported Sims, so don't worry about that.

Yes, wishing well children have random stats. This means due to the ratio of stats you probably don't want, those you do and law of averages, you are more likely to get bad stats. Evil is not necessarily a bad trait though, it has many advantages. The only real disadvantage is trait incompatibility with good Sims.

The easiest way to identify an unknown seed if you have University life and high enough science skill, is to analyze it. The new plant sample in your inventory will be from the seed and tell you what the seed is.

You shouldn't have to unless you do so by manually copying the install. (Still yes, you can do that, move the install and change the registry keys. It does save you from having to reinstall the game.)

Wine is a platform to run Windows software on any other platform. It is a windows implementation. You have to install the Windows version of Sims 3 into the same Wine installation to use the CAW tool. (You can't use the Mac version).

You can use Wine to run Create a World. However, you need a copy of the Windows version of Sims 3. If you own the steam version you have a dual-platform key. I don't know if the Disc version has one, though.

When installing the sims, simply select a directory on the second drive to install to. It should work fine.

It's not very likely a graphics problem. This is more likely to do with the interpreter having too much going on. Try reducing your active lots to 6 or 4.

If it says device recognized that isn't an issue, of course if there is no data it might. Still, if it runs it's not an issue either. You should be able to override most of the settings.
