There's a thread on EA answers about it, but it doesn't look like there's an official fix. It's definitely a mac issue though. They're talking about switching to windowed mode as a potential work around and someone mentioned resetting to factory settings.…
I think I have the same thing happening in my game - it looks like static going across the bottom of the screen? I took out my entire mods folder and the issue persisted. I also adjusted my graphics to the lowest settings and put laptop mode back on and that didn't fix it either. Do you play on a mac?
Technically, we had a Gamecube version of the Sims and I have no idea what it's official title was. But the first one I really got into was TS2 and then I enjoyed playing it so much that I skipped 3 entirely xD Also LOVED Mysims on the Wii it was a lot of fun to play through

What would be interesting though is how they would work in the more pedestrian worlds like Windenberg... on the island there are no roads. Similarly, with Brindleton Bay in certain areas, the lots are back in the woods and aren't accessible by roads. I guess by not having cars sometimes we get worlds that are more creative…
I've noticed on the gallery that a lot of people will include fake garage exteriors to the houses they build.. there's even custom content garage door exteriors that you can find. I didn't play TS3 but I did play TS2 and I really enjoyed the gameplay of fixing and customizing the old cars. Don't miss the carpools or school…
