  • @zensluv, YUP! PERSONALITIES. You can add flying unicorn zombie-looking characters in a floating world in the sky, and it won't matter a bit until I can actually tell a difference in how my sims ACT and react to sitations and other sims in the game. So sick of wishing for content when the core issues remain. Add all the…
  • The Sims (until TS4, which became unplayable for me due to lack of depth) was my escape from other people in the world. I do not wish to interact with any other real people when I play the game, no, no, no. I'm not sure if you know this, but other people can be quite annoying.
  • @Sk8rblaze "the depth of gameplay is that of a Facebook game." That's spot on. And the lack of depth is SO disappointing to me that it is just not a fun game to play. I play for the depth, for feeling like I "know" the Sims I create, for being invested in their unique stories and the consequences their actions bring. It…
  • As many here have pointed out, I think MOST of the romance interactions are cartoonish and make romance seem anything but romantic. It's hard to believe in an emotional or sexual connection between two Sims with the fist bumps and cartoony over-acting. It seems like an 8-year-old's version of what romance is.
  • Thank you for posting this. My laptop had a hard time running TS3 back in the day, but watching this video really makes me wish I had this game now. Watching the movement throughout the city, the random interactions between sims who meet on the street, the meaningful activities...man, what a better game. And this didn't…
  • The post nails exactly what is missing from TS4: TONE and DEPTH. The VERY cringy promos for recent expansion packs (with the stupid, trying-to-sound-cool narration designed for 12-year-olds at best) make me ashamed of this game. TS2 was a game that kids could play, but it wasn't dumbed down. It made sense for adults to…
  • They should act different, look different, and do different things than adults and children. That would make it a meaningful life stage. Other versions had teens that looked younger, shorter, etc. Why is TS4 so BAD AT THIS? How lazy are we being with details, Team? They should have different aspirations (oh yeah, we don't…
  • They're not going to fix TS4. They're just not. But they will gladly take the money you keep forking over for packs while they don't fix it. TS2 and 3 started with far more robust base games than TS4. This has been well documented. Now ask yourself WHY. WHY was there already more personality built into Sims in games…
  • And TS2 RELATIONSHIPS, CONSEQUENCES, and PERSONALITIES.
  • What a depressing question, given recent directions. Based on recent choices, here's what I will predict: 1. One million different packs with little slivers of content (Forget Pets or even Cats And Dogs; now, a Cat pack, a Dog pack, a Hamster pack, etc.) 2. Sims that all look and feel the same, just like now, since they…
  • That is so depressing. You're proud that you have successfully, yet again, 6 years running ignored the problems in your base game that limit gameplay? You're proud that--even if you accept the terms of this pack--it is massively lacking in gameplay by most accounts? You're proud that you've created another world that looks…
  • Whether you like Star Wars or not, for long-time sim fans, this pack confirms many of our worst suspicions: * that this company is completely willing to sell out to whatever trends they see on the market; this time, they become a vehicle for Disney advertising * that the company is very happy in totally ignoring the flaws…
  • True no matter what expansions you have/don't have. The Sims are real shallow and real dumb. It makes me :(
  • THIS. Such a great point. TS1 was almost counterculture, which is what made it so cool and fun. That same humor still existed in TS2. Now, TS4 is trying so hard to be part of culture, begging tweens and teens to love it by participating in all the things the game used to wink at. It's just not very...smart, anymore.
  • I agree with her on this pack. That rocking chair DOES look weird and clunky and like they could have done a LOT better with it. I also think that the scope of this pack is SO limited. Our expectations for what should come in a pack are so low. You can knit. How many of your sims are going to be knitters? How long can you…
  • The ONLY thing I miss about TS4 when I play TS2 is the graphics. The neighborhoods and clothes are indeed beautiful in TS4. Gameplay in its entirety, though, is totally lacking.
  • I agree with others, there are too many differences to mention, but there is a definite reason I have been playing TS2--despite its outdated graphics, wardrobes, etc.--over TS4 for the last year. I'd say it falls into two main categories: 1. Sims with personalities--even though the point system SEEMS limited and…
  • I feel foolish for liking a franchise that would produce such dreck. Those are my feelings.
  • Yeah, exactly, which is why I wish that true simmers, who have been loyal to this franchise for the game that was would act on this and NOT FALL FOR IT. You should be insulted by this, not "excited to watch." It is a childish thing. It is playing you as a pawn. It is offering you nothing.
  • Going to extravagant (and strange and embarrassing, TBH) lengths to market a bad game is not what I would call a great practice, nor is it the action of a company that deserves defense. Make your product great (like it was) first.
  • You guys are hilarious. The "different team, different budget" line. LOL. Don't make that team. Then it doesn't need a budget. We could use that to make a decent Sims game. This would be the action of a company concerned about providing loyal players a quality project, though.
  • I seriously cannot. They can't do anything we asked for in the game due to time and money constraints, they say. And this is what they've been spending their time and money on. I couldn't even read the whole announcement about it. That's how absolutley uninterested I am.
  • Ugh, those defending TS4 very often have not played other iterations, so they just have low expectations to begin with. And while I get that "everyone has an opinion," the fact that the sims in TS4 have very little personality is not an opinion; it's a fact. Compared to the traits in TS3, for example, there are SO MANY…
  • I have played The Sims since the early 2000s. I love the Sims. I agree that TS4 isn't for me, but that is a tragedy of the franchise. I have some packs. They don't do anything to fix the problems with the base game. Here's a video that might help you see them. It's definitely not just me. Many long-time Simmers feel this…
  • I do not judge the health of the franchise based on the optimism of a community. People who have invested time and money in a game are--for better or worse--likely to want to justify their investments. Based on the level of the effort the team is putting in the game, though, the game is dead. There is nothing that is being…
