  • Played every day this week, including this afternoon, didn't see any difference.
  • I selected "2-4 years"; it's actually 2 years and a bit over 4 months, which technically falls into that category. I'd never played a Sims game till January 2020, when I saw it on sale on Steam and figured "what the heck, I'll try that." Then the pandemic happened and I became hopelessly addicted. I imagine my family and…
  • Thanks. Yeah, I built it, loosely based on the design of large village houses from earlier (pre-Village and Pillage) Minecraft villages.
  • This might be old news to folks who have been playing the game for years, but I've never seen a Gretzky snowman before:
  • So I'm still playing the same two Sims that I was a month ago, but things have moved along. Most notably, they've gotten married and had a couple of kids: That's Suzanne to the left of Mick, and Corazon to the right of Frances. As I remarked in another thread, genetics is weird in this game. That was a little while back;…
  • Hmm, OK. I was wondering if it was something left over from when those sims were created. That was some time last year so I don't recall how they started out, but I was thinking maybe the original sim that appeared when I entered CAS might have been blonde and that information stayed with them when I made the changes in…
  • That's what I do. I've accumulated a fair number of sims over the time I've been playing, so I just use them.
  • Yeah, it's the first generation. Quite odd. Ha.
  • Sometimes genetics doesn't make a lot of sense. Case in point - my current household, the Kennedy family, Mick, Frances (nee Marcelino), Suzanne, and Corazon: The kids don't look much like their dad, which might raise eyebrows except that they look even less like their mum.
  • Of the ones I have installed it would have to be Seasons. I actually like it but am bothered by how much my game has slowed down since installing it. I had Pets installed briefly but it made my game unplayable. Of the three I don't have (IP, Supernatural, and ITF) the only one I'd have much interest in is IP, but from what…
  • Sims with the Neurotic trait will autonomously "check sink" even at community lots. One of my sims was out collecting seeds when I left him unattended for a moment and he walked into the salon and did just that.
  • I thought that was only possible if the adults died?
  • If doing a family I sometimes send the first kid to work until the second is of age and send them both at once. Or I'll get one into a relationship and move the partner into the household and send them together.
  • I just started a new household a few game days ago: Mick Kennedy has the traits Slob, Neurotic, Socially Awkward, Genius, and Computer Whiz; his LTW is Scientific Specialist. Frances Marcelino has the traits Flirty, Virtuoso, Irresistible, Inappropriate, and Artistic; her LTW is Master of the Arts. Just started them a few…
  • They should have made this a new way to die. Another thing I've observed recently - turning off vampires in the settings doesn't get rid of premade vampire sims that are already there. So if you're playing in Bridgeport, you'll meet the Hemlock family, etc.
  • Not sure who's behind it, but yeah, it's essentially the Canadian version of The Onion.
  • I created several sims (all in Sims 3) loosely based on characters in Robertson Davies' "Deptford trilogy", including the Staunton family (who became the Morphy family in game) as well as Paul Dempster (who became Paul Weston). Others have been based on real-life celebrities (mostly musicians), including Tim Armstrong (who…
  • The one I play in most often is this one: https://pleasantsims.com/sims-3-pleasantview-updated/ Which is kind of odd, because I never played Sims 2. I just find the town's layout to be nice and that it's an easy world to adapt to my own purposes by building and adding new lots. Among the "official" ones I find I play most…
  • A lot of the sims I create are inspired by fictional characters, real-life celebrities, or people I know/have known, and I assign names, traits, and LTWs based on that. So for instance I created sims named Devon Hando and Juliana McKenna, gave them both the Virtuoso trait, gave him Slob and Party Animal, gave her Loner and…
  • Interesting. Thanks. As it happened I cleared my cache and the problem has gone away for the time being. But it's funny you mention the group science project, because I'd recently added it (one of my sims had recently maxed out her Science skill). But the unwanted visitors weren't actually using it; they were just standing…
  • I have the same problem with letting them die. I usually address it by getting someone into gardening early on so as to get access to life fruit, and/or getting the Age Freeze Potion LTR. My current household is filling up with age-frozen young adults as their friends and neighbours grow old and die.
  • Here's another one - the Group Science Project is addictive. If you get one on your lot (by having one of the sims in your household max out their Science skill), all of your household members from Teen on up will use it compulsively unless you actively make them do something else. Which makes it very easy to raise a new…
  • And it's happened again with a completely different save.
  • I've just discovered that if you have WA, teen Sims can travel unaccompanied (at least if you also have NRAAS Traveller installed; I didn't try it prior to this). Not only that, if they travel to France, they can buy and drink nectar.
  • I've just noticed that when trying to befriend a genie summoned from a lamp, the "Ask About Day" interaction seems to worsen your sim's relationship with the genie. Almost as if the genie thought you were being deliberately mean, since the poor guy has been stuck in a lamp for goodness knows how long; what's he supposed to…
  • That much is true, but an actual Opportunity sometimes comes up to pull the lever (for extra credit, I think). And you don't control that.
  • Might be connected to the Nerd social group, I'm not sure. It doesn't seem to happen that often. Another thing I just discovered, BTW (since I didn't have Seasons until now) is that sims with the Evil trait will make an evil laugh when there's a thunderclap.
  • You know how at University you can get an opportunity to "Pull the Lever of Doom" on the Group Science Project and all the sims in the area (including yours) will pass out? Until recently I hadn't been playing with celebrities turned on, but I have it on now, and I discovered that if your sim is a celebrity, they can be…
  • So I finally got around to doing a full reinstall, and installed the mods you recommend along with MasterController. The save from just before their return from uni worked, and I got them established in Bridgeport, then had them invite Samantha Grey (who they'd met at uni) to visit and invited her to move in. Then I saved…
  • Cool. On a tangentially related note, do any of the NRaas mods have any chance of salvaging a couple of old saves that give the "a serious error has occurred while loading [savename]. It is strongly recommended that you restart the application" error?
